[Welcome to a feed of the diner, where Souji is standing behind two pyramids carefully constructed from cheeseburgers (there's also a plateful of Christmas cookies, but they're shoved off to the side because Mansion made those, not Souji). He's looking at them in bemusement, as though he's only just now realized just how many he's actually made.

He's wearing a pale pink apron that probably actually belongs to Tohru. In the background, he's already dragged out the Colonel and decked him out with a Santa Hat and string of lights.

After a few seconds, he shrugs and looks at the camera, noticing it's on. Well, that decides it.]

I'd like to propose a trade. [As though this was his plan the whole time.] A cheeseburger for a Christmas gift idea.

[OOC Note: Souji will be about 5 due to cookies from 12/13-12/15. I'm including a top level catch all thread for anyone who wants to interact with him during those dates. This will probably be the only time he'll ever be shorter than most of the other residents of the Mansion.]

[Tohru's in the diner as well, and since Souji's making so many cheeseburgers, she's taken a moment to come out of the kitchen and clean the tables and counters. She gladly lets him use her apron (which, frankly, is probably something that happens a lot) and she was very enthusiastic about the idea of bringing out the Colonel early. Colonel Santa always makes things a little more festive, somehow.

She can't help over-hearing the post he's making to the network, but she waits until it's over to go speak to him.]

That's a really good idea, Souji! But, who are you trying to come up with a gift for?

[Souji looks up from adjusting the burger pyramid with a spatula.]

A friend of mine from home. You know Minato?

Oh! I do know Minato!

[Unfortunately though, she doesn't know Minato very well, or at least not well enough to know what kinds of things he would like as a gift. But maybe she can still help Souji come up with something?]

Um, well. What sort of things does Minato enjoy in general?

[Brainstorming time!]

[Souji considers that and holds up a finger as he lists things.]

Music, video games, coffee, kendo, photography...

[As Souji lists things, Tohru realizes she wishes she knew Minato a little better.]

It sounds like there's a lot of things he really enjoys. Kendo might be a little difficullt to give a gift for, but everything else would make for good gifts! I know it can be hard because people can get anything they'd like from the closets, but I think the fact that you're thinking of him is what will make it special.

[Souji smiles. What a Tohru thing to say.]

Maybe I can use some of his interests to make something for him.

That's a good idea! If you make something for him, that's something he wouldn't be able to get from the closets, and it would be nice because it came from you!

White Day is easier. You just make chocolate.

That's true! Everyone expects chocolate for either Valentine's Day or White Day, so it's hard to get it wrong - unless they don't like chocolate, of course!

I've never met someone who didn't.

[But that is a possibility...hm.

As he's thinking, he looks at the Colonel and something occurs to him.]

Do you think the way we celebrate Christmas is kind of strange?

Hm?

[She looks over at the Colonel as well, pondering the question for a moment or two.]

...I don't think it's strange, necessarily? But I was really surprised to learn it's not more common in America! The Colonel is American after all, and so are fried chicken and cake...I wonder how that mix-up happened?

...I wonder what Americans eat at Christmas?

I'm not sure. Maybe we should ask...what if they eat soba or mochi for Christmas, since we eat American food for it?

[Probably not, but it's a good guess...kind of...not really.]

[Souji's pretty sure that's not true, but he has to smile.]

Maybe we can start a new trend. [There are enough Americans around.]

Maybe! That would probably be a lot of fun. Maybe Mr. Ned would like to try?

[Probably not, but he's the most readily available American they have.]

...I bet he could figure out how to make a mochi pie.

Do you think he really could?

[Mochi doesn't seem like it would be a good pie ingredient, but Tohru sounds amazed by the possibility.]

If anyone can, it's him, probably.

[He's had mochi ice cream. Mochi pie doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.]

Or maybe red bean pie.

Oh, red bean pie would probably be really good, actually! It might be like a crispy version of anpan?

[Souji nods.]

We should suggest that to him. It's still pretty far away, but we could have it as a special on Tanabata.

[At least it would give Ned plenty of time to get the recipe figured out. And in the meantime, Souji would have plenty of pie to eat.]

That's a really good idea! It would be perfect for Tanabata, and if anyone could figure out how to make it, it's Mr. Ned.

Let's ask him after Christmas.

We're still doing the chicken, right?

[Because he has spent a lot of time trying to mimic the stupid herbs and spices mix and he is so close.]

Of course! It wouldn't be a Christmas party without the chicken, right?

[Well. Maybe it would, but it wouldn't be their Christmas party without it.]

[Souji smiles. Perfect.]

Would you like one of these, Tohru? [Souji gestures to the cheeseburgers.] I'll have to feed the leftovers to Tefra.

[That dragon does not need any cheeseburgers, the fatty.]

Um, okay! I'll have one, and then Tefra's welcome to the leftovers!

[It's nice to be able to eat others' cooking for once, and she did try and help with gift ideas, so she met the initial conditions for a cheeseburger.]
