[ When Jane starts her video feed, there's a moment she's laughing at someone or something, pushing it/them away lightly before re-focusing on the screen. ]

Hi, everyone. I wanted to apologize for the tattoo shop being closed for so long. I left, but I've been back for about a week now. There was the ski lodge thing and before that...

[ There's something muffled said that can't quite be made out, but her eyes dart in the direction of the voice, and she laughs, bringing her left hand up to cover her mouth for a second which reveals a flash of a wedding ring. ]

...I was honeymooning. So, anyway.

[ She professionally clears her voice, getting back down to business. ]

Any appointments that fell through because I was sent home for a while can be considered back on the books and priority. Just let me know when you want to come by and I'll fit you in ahead of walk-ins. Oh, and I can confirm now that any tattoos I do here will completely disappear and not come back when you return. Which is, I guess, great for return business. All of the tattoos I gave Kurt are gone.

Just let me know if you need anything. Oh, and Kurt's back too. Thanks to everyone who checked in on Sarah.

Trapped in some strange portal dimension, she could have been stuck with only an antiquated rotary phone to communicate, or...telegrams. Though, being transported back in time might have at least been somewhat interesting. Being here in actual Wonderland is just insane. ]

I've gathered that there a lot of other people trapped here, too, so I'm totally including you in all of this when I say - if we had to get stuck somewhere, did it really have to be Wonderland? Couldn't whatever grabbed us from home have dumped us - I don't know - on a beach somewhere?

Is that too much to ask?

[ Overall, she's adjusting to this fairly well for right now. Because of course, of course this is her life now. Finally take down Sandstorm, feeling like she can catch her breath at last, and before she can fully lift her head above water and enjoy life again, she's dumped here. ]

Is everyone...okay? Anyone out there hearing this - did you just get here, too, or have you been here a while?

And I'm really - really hoping some of my team is here. Anyone. Please? I'll just...be here in the lobby. Not moving. Hoping this is some really, really terrible dream. No more combining tequila and Doritos for me, seriously.

Though I'm open to trade agreements with fellow snow nations.

[Georgia doesn't address the network until later, when she's had a chance to clean up. Her hair's dyed back to its usual dark brown. She has a black blazer over a white shirt, a few sizes smaller than she's used to, but they look like her clothes. She has shoes and she's seriously debating sleeping in them. And she has sunglasses, wrapping the world back in its usual comforting monotone and hiding her far too normal eyes. She looks like herself again. She nods as the recording starts.]

My name is Georgia Mason, and I can tell you for a fact that I have never been here before in my life.

[She shakes her head, holding up a hand.]

I have never been here before, and yet I remember everything. I remember space. I remember wizard school. I remember paintball and New Year's parties and writing op-eds that pissed people off and actually starting a print publication.

[It's almost comforting that she feels the same amount of disdain for print. Anything that's the same about her is something to cling to. She takes a deep breath before continuing.]

I remember a lot of things that didn't happen to me. Up to and including, my brother holding a gun to the base of my skull and shooting me before I could turn into a zombie. I know that didn't happen to me because that's not the sort of thing you live through. Those are all things that happened to Georgia Mason and I--

[She smiles shallowly, almost sadly, and forces herself to keep looking at the camera. Not like anyone can see where her eyes are pointing through the sunglasses, but it's important to her that she stays strong.]

I'm the closest thing you're gonna get. I'm a genetically identical clone with 97% of her memories, and how the fuck that can include Wonderland when I didn't remember it at the time of my death is one of many things about this place that will never make sense to me. It's up to you to decide if I still count as her. I don't know how to be anyone else.

[She adjusts her sunglasses, leaning in towards the camera and adds, in an entirely pleasant and matter-of-fact tone:]

Now. Can anyone tell me where the fuck my brother wound up? His stuff's still here, but he's not answering his phone. If Wonderland was seriously enough of an asshole to take him away before I got back, I'm going to start setting things on fire until I get him back.

[She reaches to turn off the camera, then hesitates. Nothing matters as much as finding Shaun, but that doesn't mean nothing else matters. She's Georgia Mason, for better or for worse, and she has a paper to run.]

Until I find him, address all queries about The Shattered Mirror to me. Thank you.

Wonderland Log #3.

We're in the middle of a new event, one that seems to be rather... recreational in nature. At first I was apprehensive. Wonderland rarely puts us in events that are meant strictly for our own enjoyment, but after careful analysis, it does appear to be exactly what it is- a, as Earth ones say, vacation

[her voice rises in excitement]
And since my defection, I have never been farther than the Earth's moon. I can only imagine how amazing the rest of the universe is when I'm not viewing it through Homeworld's lens! This is going to be great!

But fear not, my fellow victims to Wonderland's machinations. I know the wider galaxy is a vast mystery to Earthlings, so I'll be happy to act as an interpreter and guide. It may not be a system I'm familiar with, but heh. If you've seen one space hub, you've seen-

Gotta say, out of all the things Wonderland could've drawn from for me, this is probably the best end of the deal. So hey everybody, welcome to the Citadel. Yes, you're in space. No, you don't need a suit unless you wanna go outside, and I wouldn't recommend it.

If you need directions, the holographic terminals are VI information guides. Ask 'em whatever. Or, y'know, you've got the extranet in the palm of your hands, so you can just search it yourself.

[She looks like she's gonna stop, and then grins a little bit wider.]

Oh, and one more thing...

[She steps away from the wall to show she's standing in front of a display sign. A very particular display sign.]

You could be happy here. Having anything you desire, or being given a second chance. You could be happy, or at least not faulted for wanting to believe the dream. Dreams can be powerful, or quickly become a nightmare.

( Three guesses as to what Leliana's considering and the first two are probably correct. She knows that this is not in fact the Fade but it's the closest base of reference that she has -- somewhere that isn't quite real, where magic is more powerful than you would believe, dreams, desires. Demons. There is some influence here, and something else -- what else would want them captive? )

It would be more unsettling if we are simply left to our happiness. They take memories, feeding from us. Is that power only to feed what they do or is there more to it? What else will come, even if some have been waiting for so long?

( Perhaps some of the memories were not powerful enough, only giving a fraction of the power another memory did. Was it happiness or sadness, perhaps fear or anger? )

Would you give up something to keep this happiness going, or does fear of what may come stop that?

Such an array of colours and textures! I find myself mourning my poor ability to see all the different shades, but oh, the sensations underneath my toes! The feeling of raking my claws over the various chairs and couches in this lovely building is nothing less than sublime.

I’ve been missing out my entire life, only able to sharpen them against the cold metal of Zone 0. It makes a most unpleasant sound, but one must endure. Hygiene is very important, children.

And they have even made me a little present. While I would prefer some fresh quarry to chase, or perhaps something to open those vexing little tins with, this device is more than satisfactory. It is made just for the charming, rounded shape of my paws.

[It kneads them against the screen, purring in a satisfied manner.]

Tell me, my well-kept inmates, what is the purpose of our prison? Are you happy here?

Don't answer immediately. Take a minute to think about it. It's a complicated question. The concept of happiness is vague and hard to define, especially if we try and generalize it for all people. Certainly, there are moments of joy to be had here. As far as cages go, the gilding on this one can't be denied. Anything you want for free? The ability to come back to life without a hunger for human flesh? Eternal youth? No one is starving to death here. Everyone has a bed and a roof. Compared to a lot of the places people come from, this place is downright utopian even including the events. I know I'm dead at home. That's almost enough to counterbalance the lack of internet. Almost.

There are a lot of reasons to be happy here. All we're giving up is freedom, and how many of us even really have that at home? It's the permanent all-expenses-paid resort vacation no one asked for, and time isn't moving so it's not like we're even missing anything.

You know who was especially happy here? The people who lived in the Wonderland we all dreamed about in December. The ones who didn't remember ever living anywhere else. Talk about a happy ending. No one fighting, no one in pain, everyone living every day in pure, ignorant bliss.

I've called Wonderland a lie before, and I maintain it, but it's the worst sort of lie because it's so very tempting to believe it. Would it really be so bad to give in and just be happy? Why fight it when it isn't our call, when we are powerless to do anything but try and survive whatever Wonderland throws at us?

I say bliss is overrated. What's the point of being happy when you aren't yourself anymore? Is it really a vacation if you have no choice but to take it? There's so much here that we know isn't right. If we give in to being happy, we risk complacency, and if we get complacent, we risk losing the opportunity to rise up when we can.

I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy the good times Wonderland gives us. God knows they're few and far between. Be happy. Just never forget everything Wonderland gives us is the equivalent of giving a favorite pet a nice toy. Wonderland is pampering us because it is using us. The minute we forget that is the minute Wonderland owns us. None of us are free. Never forget that.

So am I happy here?

It doesn't fucking matter.

Most of the time she finds herself wandering if she has no tattoo appointments, or tucked away somewhere sketching. For today, there's a little bit of browsing in the library (she picks up classic novels this time around plus two cookbooks) before she tucks herself in the main entrance of the mansion with her sketchbook after finding a comfortable, oversized chair. She'd thought to sketch the grand doors and the view from the windows, but instead, her mind has something else in store. if it almost looks a little manic, well. that makes sense, because that's her in a nutshell.

she gives the device a bow before she speaks, a big sweeping gesture that sees her hair trailing on the floor and her nose almost touching her knees. when she pops back up she takes a couple of steps back, far enough back for her bare feet to become apparent. it's all very odd, really. )

( which isn't a lie, she can feel the presence of so many conflicting thoughts and feelings pressing against her mind already, but she doesn't let anything more than a small frown reflect this on her expression. all smiles here, still. after all, headache or not, this place is absolutely fascinating to river. ) Is there somewhere silent to think alone? Somewhere without so much chatter.

( note that the hallway is completely noiseless, except for her. )

Noise, noise, noise. All she wants is the quiet, just one or two or three hundred and fifty seconds. Not a lot. Is there somewhere here that can be quiet?

( on that lovely final note, she skips back up to the device, plugging away at a few buttons, and then the feed disappears. )

Bruce doesn't remember the last time he felt this on edge -- which is saying something for him because he is always on edge in one way or another. This place seems mostly peaceful so far but it has to be some sort of deception. He was taken from his home, after all. And Gotham may not be the best of places but it is home and he'd like to get back to it. But he knows it won't be that easy, no one would bring that many people here without some sort of ulterior motives in play. They want something from all of them, the only question is what.

He throws back his first drink in one go. He can't imagine the catch is anything good but he has a feeling he'll know sooner or later. After all, there's always a catch. Some might call him cynical for jumping to conclusions like this so quickly but he likes to think he's being realistic. While Clark's death may have restored some well needed optimism to Bruce that doesn't mean he's blind to how cruel and ugly the world can be. He just knows now he has to try to be better than that himself.

What that means for him here, however, remains to be seen.

[ The feed opens to a view of Darcy in the corner of the coffee shop, a steaming mug beside her and an assortment of electronics. She may or may not be making up for lost time thanks to Hell. Not cool Wonderland, not cool. Thankfully her time there hadn't been too bad - handy to have a buddy with a literal infinity stone inside of her around. ]

'Sup fellow Wonderlandians, I thought it'd be cool to do a little gift exchange throughout the mansion - especially after our latest adventure courtesy of this place. It's also getting to be that time of year that it gets tougher if you've lost people or feel like you're on your own. So! I wanted to do a Wonderland Secret Santa or a Holiday Super Secret Gift Exchange or a-- [ Time for everyone to get a front seat to the spinning wheels of her mind at work. ] Secret Christmahanakwanziwhateverelsepeoplecelebrate...ta if you don't celebrate Christmas........... thing. [ Don't worry if you're confused by what she just said guys, it's pretty evident by her expression that she confused herself. She's trying to make an effort to keep it inclusive, but she didn't exactly plan out a new name for the thing beforehand. ] Anyone can participate, newbies or if you've been around here forever. For people who don't know what it is, you get a name and you have to put together a present for them. Doesn't have to be anything special, but it doesn't hurt to make an effort. Also, it's a cool way to get to know new people or to just stay in touch.

I know it's a little early to be throwing this out there, but the Mansion likes to throw kinks in Holiday plans usually, so better safe than sorry on that front. Fingers and toes crossed this place doesn't turn a solid chunk of the population into tiny children again, getting stuck on the coat hook was no fun. [ Yeah, that's a whole 'nother story in and of itself. ] Any questions, feel free to hit me up or stop into the coffee shop. [ She picks up a stack of paper, scribbled notes and scientific drawings cluttering the pages. ] I'll be here for at least a few hours working through this stuff. There will also be a bucket on the counter down here if you need a little time to think about signing up. Hoping to get names out to people in the next, like, week and a half to two weeks. Thanks everybody!

[ And with that, she ends the feed on the laptop - shooting off a quick text to Steve before going back to building a way to keep track of everything in between pages. ]

Private to Steve:

Hey. Do you have a few minutes to chat tonight? I have a question for you.

[ it's evident barry's at the bar — or a bar, given how his phone's sort of sitting on the top of a tipped over bowl that had held peanuts — with a few empty bottles around him. his efforts to get drunk have proven fruitless, but barry allen is determined. ]

So, uh … [ barry looks a little tired, hair a slight mess, but he's not slurring his words. he wishes he was. ] What are you supposed to do when someone leaves? Does time kind of stop? Do rabbit holes appear out of nowhere for people to fall upwards out of?

[ it wasn't really covered in the pamphlet how you're supposed to react when someone just up and disappears. barry's never been good at that. he's tried running and he's almost going to catch a cold with how wet he always is. (his clothes are a little damp from running so fast and him winding up spluttering in the pool.) ]

Iris — Iris West, she went home. [ without him, but that's implied by how his tone drops and then picks up quickly, almost like barry doesn't need to take a breath. ] Can someone bring me a brownie? I kind of ate all the ones I brought with me and all I've got is peanuts. [ he flicks a shell a little too fast, a very brief flash of gold sparking. ] And maybe a broom. I kind of made a mess. Sorry ...

[The ambient sounds of Lux Deux is prominent in the background as the feed starts up again, and for a long time it is the only sound aside from the clink of the glass being moved against the bar while Freya tries to get her words in order. She’s ascertained from her siblings at this point that she’s been gone far longer than would be considered “normal” for Wonderland – if there ever was such a thing.

She could simply announce that she’s returned and leave it at that, let those who wish to seek her out come find her, but that has never been her way, and while she doesn’t wish to talk about herself, she’s curious about something else.]

A question for you, Wonderland, though it is a rather specific one.

[Her words are slow and deliberate, likely indicating the amount she’s had to drink at this point – enough to dull the events of the last few months spent home, but not enough to make her sloppy – and the sound of her placing the glass back down on the bar can be heard before she continues.]

At this point, I’m sure we’re all aware of the … complications, involving those of us arriving from different points in the same timeline. For those of us who have come here and then learned of our future before actually going home to live through it, what do you think was worse? The speculation of what was to come, or the events themselves?

[There’s a small scrape as the glass is lifted again.]

Would you prefer to have remained ignorant, or do you feel at peace having lived the truth for yourself?

[And she’ll have the device with her to answer replies, though if you would prefer to visit her in person, she would not say no to company either. She’s probably going to be at the bar for a while.]

[Alice has decided to occupy an empty bedroom today (interestingly, not her own) and when the camera turns on she's flopped on her back on the bed, with her hair dangling over the side.]

I've been thinking a lot recently...or, well. The thought just sort of came to me, as thoughts often do. But...it must be so hard to be here when you aren't from Wonderland, isn't it? It's fine for me of course, since I live here, but...you must be very lonely, right? Being so far from home, far from the people who love you...not that you aren't loved here, or at least I hope you are. What I mean is, it must be easy to feel lost here, especially for those of you who have been here a few years, or who are here by themselves.

[She sighs.]

I suppose all you can really do is band together...I wish there was more I could do for you. Oh, but I did find this in the attic! [She rummages around off-screen and produces an instrument.] That's what I'll do! I'll play you a song, and try to cheer you all up!

[And she puts it to her lips and plays.

Badly. Very badly. It's worse than a shrieking recorder and you have to endure it for a full five minutes before the video ends.

[When the broadcast starts, it goes from silence to the immediate noise of two people screaming, punctuated by the sound of laser gunshots and mechanical whirring. It seems the device is on a side-table, giving a flat view of Ford and Alphys… perched on another table. Alphys is curled up, hands over her head, looking incredibly distressed, while Ford seems to be shooting at something off-camera.]

Oh m-my god, oh my god, we’re going to d-die here, I’m so s-sorry, I didn’t know they were all going to start...

Don’t worry! I happen to have excellent aim.

[All of a sudden, something takes a flying leap up onto the table, and Alphys yells as Ford shoots it down. The ensuing shot causes the device to fall over, revealing the floor is absolutely covered in knife wielding box tentacles, some with multiple arms, some with multiple knives, all running over each other and stabbing the floor, themselves, and the table. Alphys is still yelling. Ford is still shooting. It looks like an absolute catastrophe.]

Maybe we shouldn’t have prototyped them with the basic ability to learn--

Well it w-would have been fine if it was just, y-you know, one of them! They weren’t all supposed to turn on at the same time!

[Suddenly, Alphys turns her head and seems to notice the device, turning herself around and reaching out to grab it, bringing it in close to her and Ford.]

Uh, t-this is totally under control! No need to panic! I d-don’t, uhm, know how long this has been broadcasting, but, it’s f-fine! … And m-maybe don’t come to Ford’s room for, uhm, a little bit, for uh. Reasons.

Is that thing on? Uh, I mean-- Yes! Everything is absolutely, 100% under control. There is no need to worry about anythi-- [Ford cuts himself off and hisses.] Watch out, Alphys! I think it just tasted my blood!!

Oh g-god please don’t let that do anything new.

[And the device blinks off, cutting out the mechanical whirring sounds with it.]

[ Jane's living with Kurt now, that much has been established, but she doesn't want to do tattoos out of his apartment, so she's decided to do them out of her old room. It's already completely furnished and sure it looks more 'I live here' than 'I do tats out of this space' but she'll figure out what else to do with it later. For now, she has an actual offer. ]

Hey, Wonderland. Resident tattooed lady here. Jane. Or Professor Doe, I guess, since that event wasn't terrible at all. [ She's not even being glib about that! ]

Anyway, in between things that happen, I've been working on my ability as an artist. I love to draw anything and everything from portraits to landscapes. I've been using the closet to get tattoo equipment and I've been practicing on fruit skins. It's taken a while, but I think I'm ready to start offering this to everyone. A few people let me do practice tattoos on them which was awesome, and I'm pretty proud of the work. I won't reveal anyone if they don't want that, but if they want to chime in, I won't stop them from giving a testimonial. I'm sending out an attachment with a link to the work I've already done. I'm up on the fifth floor, room 51. All sanitary, professional, and I'm pretty sure you don't have to commit to having this in the real world when you go home. If things really do go back to when we left, then I guess the tattoo would go away too.

So feel free to come by, or ask questions here. I'll work with you, sketch out what you're thinking of or work off of your drawings.

Click here to be re-directed to tattoo portfolio.

[ With that, Jane feels pretty good about things, glad to be doing something that's more than just sitting around. ]

[ooc: Feel free to action it up by having someone drop by for a tattoo. Or ask general questions for video or action. Or go a completely different route! Up to you, I'm flexible!]

[ Unlike her announcement of Leliana's departure, this one does not reveal her voice. It's only text, written word with the author's feelings left implied, and less verbose than last time, too. ]

Alistair has gone. His room is empty and his things have vanished. As his fellow Grey Warden, I thought it best to inform those who may have known him.

[ Leliana, Brennan, Dorian. Alistair, too, now. All of her closest friends in Wonderland seem to be steadily vanishing (and she hasn't heard of Bethany Hawke, yet, another one who would be regretfully added to the list). ]

He was exactly what a Warden should be. He was brave and kind and with a good heart.

[ Ridiculous jokes and all.

Soon after, she sends out one private message to Anders: ]

Anders,

Alistair left behind Purrlock. Do cats and mabari get along? Could you teach me how to take care of a kitten, if you have the time?

[The video swings back and forth to the rhythm of Max's footsteps. Sticks crunch underfoot and golden rays filters in through the forest canopy, coating the ground in dappled morning light. It's not quite autumn, Max's favorite time of the year- the green forest stretches on into the distance, no trace left of the party that had been in full swing only the night before.

The video turns this way and that as Max scans the forest, apparently trying to find one specific area. Having chosen a direction, she then continues walking, the camera jerking up and down slightly as she does so.]

I think this is near where I first woke up in Wonderland. We're all familiar with what that's like: wowser, enchanted forest, big fancy mansion over yonder, etcetera etcetera. [The words are light, but Max's tone is strained, tight; reminiscing but also purposeful and laden with restrained emotion.] I stumbled through here- I think this was it. And- and standing over there- [She points the camera out of the forest now, where far away the mansion looms. The smaller second mansion is partially obscured behind it.] was Alex Kralie. Right where the trees end, big flashlight pointed right at my face.

[The video becomes still as Max stops walking.] It was winter and I was soaked, and he didn't offer me his coat. He's not what you'd call a good Samaritan. [She sits now, and lays her device next to her, the camera pointed at the forest ceiling. Blue sky, clouds, and sunlight peek here and there from between the leaves. Max lets out a long sigh, self-conscious about speaking for so long to an audience. But this... Wonderland needs to hear this.]

...So I dunno how it happened, but he ended up being my first friend here. And one of my best friends. And... and now he's gone.

[A wind rustles through the trees, blowing away a stray leaf here and there. Max gets into her stride and keeps talking, her voice becoming softer now and then as she shifts position.]

I'm not sure how much he ever told anyone, but home for him is a pretty screwed up place. He's... He was going through a lot. Everyone here is, right? [Max has always noticed that, at least.] And believe me, I know that he could be a total ass about it. Or just... in general. But that's because he wasn't okay. And he needed help, but... didn't know how to ask for it, or accept it even. Like I think... somehow he knew he was going home. And he never told anyone... or, or me. But what I- I liked about him was that he- he was never... selfish about it. He never did anything just because he wanted to... in fact, a lo- lot of the time, he didn't want to. But he felt... like he needed to. A-and that, you know, to give up the things you w-want or love, and-... and even yourself, because I think toward the end he was sort of... of letting go... that's... hella brave.

[A short pause here as she drags in a shaking breath.]

I just... wish he'd told me. And I w-wish that I... knew how to- to help him. Be- because he needed it and- and I- he-... w-we never got to shoot off fireworks like he w-... wanted.

[Another shaky breath.]

W-wonderland doesn't make much sense. And it's so- so cruel to send him home. I don't... I don't get why he was even here. Why he was even... fuck...

[She jams some sort of jewel in front of the camera, and her hand shakes as she holds it.] Someone- someone has to tell me what the f- fuck this is, because goddammit Alex this is the worst fucking goodbye gift!

[She drops it and fumbles with the camera to turn it off, though it catches one last, shaking mumble, followed by a sniff.] A-asshole!
