[Sans is here, and he looks--a little off. His eyelights are a bit fuzzed, for one thing--and for another, he looks almost...openly nervous about something. Which, if you know him, is a bit strange. He's usually pretty damn good at keeping his expression neutral.]

[He's still smiling, of course, because he's a skeleton, and it's physically impossible to stop smiling.]

well, there's one of those rift things near my door, and it looks like my cat set it off. which i guess means it's honesty hour in room 220 and probably nearby as well. which is extremely--unpleasant, because i'm really not big on tellin' the truth. which is incidentally the truth.

[There's a little voice in the back of his skull that's telling him to shut the hell up, but he can't help it. He can't even just switch the video off and try to ride this out somewhere where no one will try to ask him questions. It feels like he needs to metaphorically bare his soul to anyone willing to listen.]

[There's a scale of things he doesn't want to be honest about, though, so he's hoping he can deflect any impending conversations toward something more benign. Something that won't be as big a deal to be honest about.]

hey, so does anyone else feel like this event is building toward something really bad? because this whole thing is making me pretty nervous. i think it'd be freaking me out more if i was capable of it, but--yanno--depression and all.

[Given the sheer volume of network posts in the last few days, Satoru hadn't wanted to clog things up further. But he's finally figured out the compass he received and it seems like...something people should know about.

When he starts the feed, he's standing outside, though it's difficult to tell where he is exactly. Kayo is behind him, playing idly with a Rubik's Cube while she waits for him. A few glowing rips can be seen in the vicinity, but they're staying away from them like the smart kids they are.]

I got a compass. [Just going to throw that out there first.] But it didn't point north. I followed it to where it did point and found this.

[He pans the camera around to show a hole in the ground. He turns it back toward himself after a moment. He has no idea what it is he's found, but he has a feeling it matters, and so not knowing is kind of irritating him.]

He's stroking it lovingly as he looks at it in its temporary pot.]

Hello, glorious citizens of Wonderland! It seems a lot of us have gotten mysterious gifts from an equally mysterious RQ, and it's such a tantalizing state to be in, isn't it?

[He delicately nudges a bud, untangling it from another leaf so that it can stand out prominently.]

And what a fitting gift this is for me! Flowers for a star! But not just a simple bouquet, oh no; a potential unending supply of beautiful white roses, just for me!

[He moves the pot to the forefront of the camera and lets it take up the whole frame so all its details are on display.]

I don't know who this RQ is but clearly they have excellent taste in being such a big fan of mine. I love you too, RQ!

[Mettaton then pops back into frame and blows a kiss to the camera. Presumably for this RQ he is talking about; how embarrassing.]

So! My question to you all is: now that I am done showing this off, what should I do with it? Should I plant this bush in the gardens for everyone to see? Maybe erect a plaque on it so everyone knows it is mine? Or should I keep it here and put it in a bigger pot to lavish my room in more elegance? Oh~! The possibilities!

[So she was wrong. She didn't just make it to the Surface. She made it to another world entirely, or so the pamphlet she read seemed to indicate.

She's done crying now. When she turns on the video, her normally yellow eye looks more reddish and puffy, but other than that, there's no indication that she was just weeping openly at the sky. The network is greeted to a one-eyed, blue-scaled fish woman with fins on each side of her face, her head mostly bald save for a long, bright red ponytail.

She looks all business, as she clears her throat, currently sat at a desk. And then she smiles, a mess of very large fangs revealing themselves, as if she were part anglerfish.
]

Attention humans!! I have an announcement to make.

I'm going to need each and every one of you to explain to me why I shouldn't KILL YOU ALL!!!

[Suddenly hit with a flash of energy, she summons a bright blue magical spear from thin air, half climbing onto the desk as if to rush every human watching through the screen itself.]

I'M DECLARING WAR ON HUMANITY!!! EVERYONE, LINE UP AND FIGHT ME FAIR AND SQUARE!!! I'M TAKING THIS WHOLE MANSION DOWN!!!

I'll be waiting on the grass out front, you punks!! NGAAAAAAAAH!!!

[And with that, her broadcast ends.

She can be found afterward on the grass near the gardens in front of the mansion, around where she first arrived. If anyone noticed her weeping openly at the sky earlier, you definitely imagined it, because she is far from tears now. She's just continuing to marvel up at the sun, squinting at it and muttering things like, "I'll get you, punk," and, "You think you can just float up there, huh??" under her breath.

[This past event, he was in over his head, and he knew it. Tim ended up with a second soul (SOUL?) and a new set of monstrous features to boot, and Jay had no idea how to help. Clearly there are things going on here in Wonderland that Jay hasn't even started looking into, and now he's been burned for it.]

[He takes to the network several days after Asgore and Tim recover.]

How do souls work in your world?

Back where I come from, people talk about them. When you die, they say your soul goes to Heaven or Hell (or Purgatory or whatever afterlife you believe in, I guess). But it's not like anyone's actually seen one.

[The world's saddest boy is eased in sadness and also fur. Asgore Dreemurr awakes in his room and finds himself as whole and living as he has been of late, although perhaps more tired than usual.]

[A short video is posted to the network. It is a close up of Asgore's face; it is late, and he looks weary, but the weariness he feels is deeper than the hour alone would give.]

I have been dead, but for the second time in my experience, I find that I am no longer so. I apologize to anyone whom I may have worried or harmed with my death, especially my children. I apologize for laying such a heavy burden on Tim. I did not wish for my SOUL to be absorbed by one of the Ice Giants by accident, and perhaps making one of them even stronger, enabling the deaths of others.

If my choice was wrong, I take responsibility for it, and again apologize to anyone it has harmed.

I don't even know how the hell this is supposed to be me having bad luck since I've just been wandering around bored with nothing to fight.

At least in the other challenges there was stuff for me to hit...though I guess I'm glad I didn't get a giant block thing dropped on me like Taako did.

[He sighs and adjusts the grip on the communicator, and with the new view (still slightly angled) it's clear to see a large ax on his back and a long lance that looks almost like the hand of an elaborate clock.]

So yeah, I guess just hang on and try not to die while I try to figure this shit out? That'd be real great.

It is rather bare in comparison to the almost gaudy things he’s put up before but this one is straight and to the point: a picture of a ghost that some of Wonderland may recognize and the words on the top and bottom of the flyer say in big bold, eye-catching print HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GHOST? Anyone who happens to explore the mansion today will run into a lot of them hung up all over Wonderland.

There’s a couple of seconds as Mettaton adjusts the flyer so it sits perfectly on it and, satisfied, he reaches a hand back to the camera and turns it to face him.]

Hello Wonderland! It’s been awhile since I have posted here, I know, it’s a tragedy that I need to remedy more often, but that’s a problem for later. For now, dear Wonderland, I need your help. You see, in that last event or perhaps a little before it, someone important went missing. And I know some of you knew them, so I will need your help in finding them!

[He says this with a confidence that does not betray the anxiety that has been building in his soul that he has been fervently denying.]

Now I know one of the first questions some of you may ask me is “Is their room empty?” Well. Their room being empty, whether or not it is, doesn’t matter right now. What matters is that they are missing and that I will find them. Any information you have as to where they may be would be incredibly helpful!

[Now Mettaton looks almost imploringly to the camera, but of course he’d never come off as desperate, no, he’s Mettaton! He’d never potentially lose his cool like this.]

So! If any of you have information about the whereabouts of the dear and lovely Napstablook, I am all ears! I will be all over Wonderland and if you have anything at all, respond to this and let me know.

[With a decisive nod he ends the feed.]

((ooc: If you’re feeling an action thread, Mettaton can be found almost all over Wonderland feverishly looking for his dear friend, so feel free to run into his rather desperate search as he denies that Napstablook is gone. Great, a trip down memory lane. Just what I was hoping I'd get for my birthday.

[With the deadpan tone and the face that's expressionless as ever under her sunglasses, it's hard to tell if Georgia's being sarcastic or not. She sits at her desk in the After the End Times office, posture rigid, hands in her lap.]

As many of you might have guessed, the latest event was my own. I suppose it could have been Shaun's, but I suspect there would have been actual zombies to play with if this were coming from his memories. But no, politics and conspiracies. That's more my wheelhouse. Besides, Sacramento is the city I died in.

[Her tone remains as measured and professional as her expression. These are facts. There's no reason to get emotional about something as cut and dried as facts.]

The paranoia, the constant fear... this is what my team has been working to try and overcome, to spread truth instead of misinformation, to overcome the lies and the bullshit and make people understand the facts. People are afraid. The choices they make often don't actually do anything to make them safer, just keep them afraid. Zombies are not as big a problem as the people in power would have you believe. Most of the outbreaks I've faced that were within residential areas, as opposed to in actual hazard zones, came about due to sabotage and terrorism, not normal zombie activity.

[And it was often to try and silence her and her team. That sure doesn't help her sleep at night.]

I'd apologize for putting you all through this, but I know as well as anyone else that this is on Wonderland, not me. I would have stopped it if it were within my ability. I don't hate my world, believe it or not. It might be fucked up, but it's home. That doesn't mean I wanted anyone else to experience it.

[There's a lot of things she didn't want.]

This is Frisk, coming to you live from the RNC!!

A needle full of Kellis-Amberlee was found today. People think it might've been intentional. Like some kind of asassination attempt. But there are a lot of scientist people and stuff around here, so maybe it wasn't! Maybe someone was studying it, or trying to get some samples or something. We can't really know unless we ask!

But no one's asking. They're just quarantining people without asking! and someone's hot dog stand was even burned down over it. It's not fair!

So I think we have to take this chance to remember that we're all here together. We're all just people, fighting against something inside us that keeps trying to win, so we can't let it! We're stronger than any virus. But we have to have faith in each other, O.K.? That's the only way any of us can get through this!

Greetings! This is Toriel!

I have been thinking, recently... and today, I became curious about other's opinions on the matter, as well.

How many of you are happy here?

Certainly, this place is far from ideal. We are of course, being kept here against our will, and I know that I personally, am not as bothered by that, as I have spent most of my life in a similar situation. Not to mention that, quite often, the events that it forces upon us are... well. Ordeals.

But for some, a place like this may be the only place we can see some people close to us. People we may have lost. For others, this is the only place we could truly exist at all. Wonderland, despite having entire worlds to pick from, does seem fond of picking people who know each other, people within close-knit groups within those worlds.

I have met people, made relationships, and enjoyed experiences that I could not have ever had, otherwise. Despite all its faults... I am glad to have been brought here.

That someone is soaked through, wearing a white shirt and a dirty, red tie that stands out almost ghoulishly against the pallor of his skin - just a little too grey to be natural. Maybe it's just the cold. He's shivering and gripping his upper arms, viewing the bloody carnage that surrounds him with the wide-eyed bewilderment of a child.

But no matter how you spin it, there is something visibly off about this man. His colour is one thing, but the bluish veins that stand out against his skin and the pewter-grey shade of his eyes paint a very peculiar picture.

He looks more like the bodies surrounding him than anyone who might be watching.

She has to do her best to warn everyone, toe the line between scaring the shit out of people and making sure they understand. Sitting at her kitchen table (and that's a weird thing, too. This isn't anyone's but hers. This is all...hers. Her house, her couch, her mantle where she hung her katana thinking in a bout of optimism that it could stay there) she turns on her device, her face a little harder than usual which is, in all honesty, saying something. ]

If you don't know me, my name's Michonne. This is my world. Looks nice. Quaint. But it's not. Most people in Wonderland call it a zombie apocalypse. We didn't know what it was.

[ She really can't help having this moment out loud. ]

It was never entertainment for movies and tv in my world. It's real. Most of you already know what to do: shot to the head is the only thing that kills them. It's not good enough to just cut off the head. It can still bite. You get bit, you die and turn. Come back as one of them. Don't worry about being able to tell the difference between someone alive and someone dead. You can see it. Smell it.

[ And uh, one other thing: ]

If you get bit on a part that can be cut off, arm, leg. Do it. Cut it off as soon as you can. If you don't bleed to death, you won't turn.

[ But everyone knows this is temporary, so maybe people would just rather die than go through an amputation. Maybe they'd die and turn because eventually, this will end. They don't have to keep living it every single day. ]

I don't know if walkers will even be the issue. It could be anything I've gone through, right? There's enough fucked up shit that's happened, the biggest threat might not even be the dead. Just trust me. Get a weapon. Stay close because there's safety in numbers. I'm at the very end of the neighborhood with cases of water and food if you don't have any, but look in your pantries and see if there are rations, first. If you know how to use a gun, I've got those too.

Just know that noise draws them in. Gunfire is dangerous, might as well sound off a dinner bell for walkers. That's why I've had and always will have a katana. If you smell like them, they won't bother you. Smear their guts on you, smell dead, walk slow, you can get through a hoard.

[ She should stop, she can't tell everyone everything, it's too much. ]

You know how to reach me, if you need me.

[Ahem, ahem. A boy with a shock of bleached hair clears his throat, fidgeting around in his seat in search of a comfortable position public speaking doesn't afford. Some of you might recognize him from his ill-fated adventure in the forest (and others from more ill-fated adventures in flirting) but fortunately today's message isn't half so dire.]

Hey, so, anybody wants to come, we're doin' a thing down by the stream Wednesday night. Nothin' fancy, just a few people.

We're havin' our own lantern ceremony. Like a, uhh, dedication thing for people who've passed on. People you're thinkin' about, stuff you're prayin' for. Shit like that. It's tradition back home, but everyone's gotta have stuff worth commemoratin', I figure. So! Everyone's welcome, even if it's not your custom.

[It's then the boy sighs and lifts a rectangular shape into view that was resting out of sight by his feet. It's a paper lantern, beautifully hand-painted in a koi pattern that makes the fish seem alive, as though they're swimming along the folds of the paper.]

I told him to keep it simple. [Damn it, this is not simple, Yusuke.] You don't gotta go overboard like... this.

[He looks awkward holding the thing, eyebrows pinched exasperatedly, and finally just sighs.]

What you do is take a lantern like this, write your prayer or message or whatever, then light a candle inside and float it on the water. That's how it works. The light's supposed to guide spirits--or that's how the official story goes, anyways.

If you wanna join in and take one of these puppies for a spin, that's where we'll be. That's all I got to say, so... thanks? Maybe I'll see some of you there.

(OOC: And you can find the mingle log for the 12th up here! Be there or be square. Or be square and come anyway, we don't discriminate.)

Um... H-Hello. This isn't anywhere near as important as the last couple of videos... Or important at all. You could skip this if you want, I don't mind. I was j-just, um, curious.

I was encouraged to try and perform, b-but... I don't really know much about music. So, I guess...

W-what is your favorite musical instrument? And why?

Let's talk news.

[Georgia's sitting at her desk, dressed in her usual black blazer and white shirt, staring at the camera seriously through her dark sunglasses.]

I'm sure no one's guessed, but it's an important topic to me. In my world, the news, like everything else, changed radically during the summer of 2014 when the Rising happened. While mainstream newspapers and tv anchors were reporting that everything was fine and laughing about "hoax" zombie sightings, bloggers who took it upon themselves to figure out what was really happening. For bloggers, spreading the truth was more important than maintaining the rapidly deteriorating status quo. They risked their lives to learn how to deal with zombies, and they wrote everything down even while fighting off infection, so that more people could use what they'd learned to survive. They were the heroes of the Rising, and a big part of why we're still around.

The Rising ended over twenty years ago, but we never forgot. There's a reason I'm a blogger, and it's not because I couldn't get a job with a so-called "legitimate" newspaper if I'd tried. My generation trusts bloggers to tell the truth on their own terms, not to bow to the will of various outside powers with different agendas. That's what I'm here to bring. The truth, nothing but.

[She sits back. Her eyes are hidden behind her glasses, but her intense focus is clear anyway.]

But that's my world. I'm interested in hearing about yours. Internet, newspaper, hell, even if the best you've got is a town crier, you've got to get your news somehow. So tell me: what's your experience with the media?

[ ooc: consider this a party post. feel free to tag around as much as you want to others, chiming in and giving advice. be anonymous like clementine or don't be anonymous, up to you. cw for underage drinking, probably mentions of violence, death, etc. ]

( the first time clementine ever had a drink, it was in a shed with nick. they thought they were going to die. it was the grossest thing she'd ever tasted. burned down her throat. moonshine. the second time, it was rum while they all sat in a circle, toasting to the people they'd lost. the third time, it was rum with coke when she checked in on shaun after georgia left.

the fourth time, it's rum again with coke, and she's had a little more than an eleven year old should, but she hit the anonymous function on the post before writing )

how do you deal with all the bullshit life throws at you?

like death and losing and surviving and wonderland and assholes and babies

and cannibals.

or whatever else you've been through. too much free time here.

( definitely feeling the rum now. but with the alcohol, it's like she's finally found some feeling she's been missing. her eyes burn. trust has become so hard that she doesn't trust anyone completely, because everyone has their own priorities. it's how the world works. it's what she's learned. iris is gone. everyone died back home. she has a newborn to take care of there. she's still got walker blood in her veins like michonne, like georgia and shaun have zombie blood in them. when she dies, she'll turn into one too unless someone shoots her first or she does it herself. and she doesn't know how to have emotions anymore. things should reach her and they don't. or maybe she just doesn't let them, and she can't tell the goddamn difference. )

::The video feed turns on. Asgore is in it. He is sitting next to a... Christmas... tree... which he has apparently put up in his room. For some reason. And he is wearing a very Ugly Christmas Sweater. The absolute worst.::

So! Because it is almost Christmas time, I was wondering if anyone other than Monsters celebrates this special holiday. It is a time when Monsters exchange gifts with friends and family, and decorate trees, such as the Christmas Tree which I have behind me.

::He pans the camera over to get a look at what appears to be a very average Christmas tree; he must have asked for 'generic Christmas Tree decorations' from the closets or something. It has lights and balls and tinsel and non-religious bauble at the top. He keeps the camera on the tree instead of on himself for the rest of the video's duration.::

I thought that if you wanted to, you could share what you were hoping for for Christmas this year. I always enjoy a new necktie bottle of Stetson cologne shaving kit new kind of tea. Who knows, you may be visited by Santa and he will bring you what you want.

::The video feed cuts off::

[Perhaps on the heels of such an interesting event, one wouldn't expect a person to be bored--and yet.

The message is short: a simple text, offered up without context or commentary.]

There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.

[Let's see what comes of it.]
