[There's a face very, very, very close to the screen. Not a shock, given he's basically sitting on the device with wide eyes and a mouth hanging open a little in awe. It makes strange noises sometimes and he's not sure what it is but he will work it out. He's smarter than he looks, he'll have you know. He's a smart cookie. The smartest of cookies even because cookies are remarkably dumb. They don't even put up a fight when he eats them so they're clearly inferior to the all mighty Groot.

He leans forward slowly. He licks it. Ew. Nope. Not food. Hmm.

Okay, back to square one.

It's not doing much but be kind of reflective, it's probably not a weapon and--

Oh! He can see his face!!!

He pulls funny faces into it happily, delighted with how he can see himself and somehow not paying attention to anything else in the screen but himself.]

I am Groot!

[This looks like a rather amused face, eager to introduce themselves. Wanda's own reply has her offering Groot a small smile.]

Hi, Groot. I'm Wanda. [She'll introduce herself in return, to start with.]

[Oh. Oh. Look, there might be other tiny talking trees out there in the world. There might even be other beings named Groot. But Georgia has never believed in coincidences, especially here, and Rocket has told her about his Groot in enough details that the connection is not hard to make.

She smiles slightly under her sunglasses, leaning in.]

Hello, Groot. I am Georgia. I'm a friend of Rocket's.

And you're really cute .... to boot!

[ the girl onsreen giggles, delighted. ]

I'm Coraline Jones.

[Oooh, a talking face thing. He had no idea this device was able to talk. He pulls back and smiles happily as the face called Wanda.]

I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. [Wanda is a silly name but it's okay, you're a giant face on a screen, you've clearly got bigger issues than your name.]

[Rocket is here? Good, he clearly needs someone who can assist him and he's not sure it's going to be the strange girl wearing sunglasses. He's not a fan of sunglasses. He's not sure why humans are so worried about getting bugs in their eyes. He assumes that's why sunglasses are a thing.

Kind of like windshields. Personally, he just smushes the bugs.]

I am Groot? [Can you lead him to Rocket?] I am Groot! [They can walk together, he'll keep the bugs out of your eyes.]

[He beams very happily. Yes, he is adorable. This little girl knows what's what. He points at himself and nods his head.]

I am Groot!

[ Despite everything she's seen in both Columbia and Wonderland, nothing has prepared Elizabeth for a tiny, cute, talking plant. When he starts pulling faces into the camera, she sticks her tongue out right back at him. ]

Aren't you adorable!

Nice to meet you, Groot... Can you say anything else? Or type?

[ She reaches for the screen, flips out the keypad and hurriedly twiddles her thumbs. ]

I am Coraline.

[Is.. that all Groot can say? Maybe. Or maybe Groot is just lost and scared or something.] Are you .. lost? This place is kind of weird.

[He's a child.

Rocket has told Rip about Groot; his dearest friend, the one who sacrificed himself. And perhaps in a way it makes sense that he would be reborn anew, to live and grow once more. Still, it's a bit of a surprise to see that small face pressed against the screen, so clearly delighted with this new thing he's found.

Rip almost doesn't reply. Part of him thinks he truly shouldn't, given how things stood between Rocket and himself.

Still.]

Hello, Groot. [He even manages a grin of his own, though smaller and faint.] I'm Rip.

[He is adorable but please don't let that distract you from his amazing mind and brilliant strength. He's more than meets the eye. Even if what meets your eye is adorable. Do you see his inner qualities? Cause you should.] I am Groot?

[It's a guess. She can't understand him. But it seems like a safe guess.]

Where are you? Can you point the camera at your surroundings?

[Because she doubts him telling her will help anything.]

[Can Groot type? Well, there in lies a mystery. He opens up the text function and then the emotes distract him and that's honestly all he wants to do. Writing is for nerds.]

I am Groot. [Kind of but it's okay, he has a phone thing and he kind of likes it. It has a nice talking face in it and fun buttons to press. He holds up his hand and waves again at Wanda.]

You're a happy tree that makes berries?

[He waves his hand at Rip and then sits down on the device, idly watching the strange man talk with great curiosity. So many talky heads here, it's truly interesting to see so many human around, even if they're tiny and in a device. They're not nearly all as ugly as Peter. Good to know.

He presses his hand against the screen, as if to see if he can touch Rip.] I am Groot? [What is this thing and how did you get into it?]

[He already said that! Was she not listening? With a slow nod, he decides to be more gentle and talk slower.]

I. Am. Groot.

[He's in a big room and he's not sure where it is. He wraps his vines around it and lifts it up so she can see the big room. Lots of pots and pans. A fridge. Some food smells. Clearly he's in the garage. Right?]

[...Ah. Conversation is clearly going to prove interesting, isn't it?

Rip waves back, though in truth it's little more than raising a hand and wriggling his fingers a bit. Still, an effort is made! Though the greater task is going to be figuring out how to interpret that repeated set of three words, which apparently comprise the entirety of Groot's vocabulary.

So. What would a child—an alien child—ask if presented with a bit of earth technology that seemed to show them other people?]

Are you wondering about the communication device? [He mirrors Groot's motion, pressing a finger against his screen briefly.] I've got one too, just the same as you.

[ He's never actually met Groot back home...or any of the Guardians but he knows of them. They have fought with the Avengers- the Avengers have fought with them. So hearing and seeing Groot isn't...well it is shocking but not in a oh god a talking tree way. More in a oh, someone else from a similar world way. ]

Hi Groot. I'm Billy. [ and he waves because well, he's a sort of adorable tree isn't he? ]

[ Well, this is the sort of message Steve normally would have let other people handle, but there's something about it all that's familiar. Some sort of tree creature, calling itself Groot? Yeah, Rocket mentioned this when he told Steve about the Guardians. Steve had been expecting something much bigger when he was told about a walking, talking tree, but that's neither here nor there.

Rocket will no doubt want to find out that his friend(?) is here, so Steve straps in to make his attempt at interacting with a creature that may or may not understand what he's saying. ]

Hi Groot, I'm Steve. [ He smiles, for good measure. ] Are you one of the Guardians of the Galaxy?

[ Is that... is that a talking plant-tree-person? Sure, why not. It's Wonderland. And either way, he's adorable. ]

Hello, Groot! I'm Caitlin.

Groot, stop putting your tongue on things.

[it's a reflex. said almost haphazardly as he happens to be halfway looking at the device.]

[he drops his wrench.]

[He picks up his communicator and just stares at it for a second.]

Stay right where you are. I'm comin' to get you.
