[The woman who appears on the feed might be familiar to a few people. She's sitting at a table or a desk and facing the camera, composed, but a little worse for wear. She looks tired.]

You sure know how to make a girl feel at home. [Not that she's faced frost giants or dark elves before, but dropped into the middle of a fight she wasn't expecting and wasn't prepared for? One that probably should be left to gods and super soldiers? That is familiar. The last two days haven't been boring] Is that normal?

[Natasha taps the table in front of her twice, drawing a slow breath as she considers how she's going to play this. If putting her face on the network is a mistake, then she's already made it.]

I think I'm ready for the welcoming committee now.

Hey. [Mirroring the greeting, alert despite her fatigue and a long list of surprises.] Natasha.

[A pause, letting the informal introduction stand a beat before she continues. But there are too many questions to leave it at that.]

Just how many of them have you seen? When you put it that way, it sounds like more fan a few.

Kind of loss track, but, I've been here since last December. We have a few weeks of 'peace', if you can call it that, and then another 'event' happens. Some are okay. Some? Not so much.

[Well. She asked.]

[She did, and if it's not the answer she wanted to hear, Natasha won't hold that against her. She didn't imagine anyone would have good news.]

Sounds like the peace isn't so peaceful.

Well I guess it's a good thing we're already used to that unpeaceful peacefulness.

[Good job, Daisy.]

Was trying to avoid saying something like that right now.

We're kind of from the same place.

[Natasha's expression is rueful at Daisy's admission. Considering what she did to Agent Carter, this is probably fair turnabout.]

Just kind of? [The possibility of them being from subtly different places can't be ruled out.]

So does that mean you know who I am?

I mean, we live on the same planet and we're in the same line of work.

[SHIELD. She means SHIELD. Of course she's not going to rat her out to everyone here with the kind of work she did back home.]

We've never met though. Until now, in a completely different world. Which should be much more weirder than it actually is.

Kind of used to weird though.

You realize that's saying a lot, being in my line of work.

[A lot of possibilities. SHIELD seems like the one people would admit to, but spy, assassin, profilers... there's a lot of possibilities there. Up to and including superhero.

And that's just the beginning.]

You know, I'm not really in that business anymore.

Yeah. I guess it is.

[Is it bad that her saying that gets a smile out of Daisy. Just as quickly that smile fades though. It may not seem like it here, considering Daisy is doing her best to help Jemma and Fitz out when she can and they were part of SHIELD. Back home though? That was a different story for Daisy.]

Neither am I. Guess we have that in common.

Sounds like it must be quite a story.

[Which isn't exactly asking for that story; asking for answers opens her up to too many questions in return. Natasha just recognizes a complicated situation when she sees one.]

So I take it you're hooked up with SHIELD here?

Yeah, well, everyone around here has a few stories.

[It was her own problem for even bringing up SHIELD. Did she know about the inhumans? Did she know that Daisy was one of them?]

I guess I am, yeah. Just one of those things you can never really escape.

[~~No matter how much she tried to for months.~~]

[If Natasha does, she doesn't give a sign. Either she doesn't know the details or she finds it preferable to leave that off the table for the time being. ~~If only we knew for sure.~~]

I don't know about that. Guess there's only one way to find out in the long run. Here, knowing a few people might be an advantage.

[One worth tentatively putting aside certain politics at home and hoping they don't re-emerge down the road.]

Yeah. I guess it is.

[It took her a while to come around to that idea of being part of a team again. After everything that had gone down back home and Daisy having completely isolated herself.]

The closets are a pretty big advantage too. Sort of. Not sure if you heard about those yet.

I have. They have to be about the only thing everyone agrees is good.

[It might not be a good sign, the fact there's only really the one thing being brought up.]

I'm sure I'll get to appreciate it before long. At the moment, jury's still out on how I feel about something like that.

[Seems awful hard to trust, she means, but then that might just be Natasha being Natasha.]

I mean, that is pretty much it. Trapped in Wonderland might sound appealing to some people, but, it loses that appeal pretty quickly.

[Daisy definitely understands why Natasha didn't trust the closets though.]

They're mostly harmless, but sometimes they've been known to screw with us.

Any horror stories I should know about? Go in for a ball gown and all that comes out is polyester?

[Let's pretend for a moment that a less breathable fabric is the worst sort of horror story they'd have.]

Maybe accidentally wandering into a second even stranger dimension if we go inside?

[That lame joke does get a small chuckle out of her at least.]

Invisible zombies. That one was a lot of fun.

I haven't heard about that happening, but, I guess anything is possible here. Even Narnia.

[Natasha is doing her best. Can't blame her if her jokes are a little off. Or probably they weren't that great to begin with.]

Well...

Pretty much what it says on the tin can.

[Daisy doesn't mean it to be rude, she's just not sure how else to explain it because she isn't sure.]

It's no fun when you can't tell where to shoot.

I figured that. Still... [Natasha shakes her head. Of all of the places to stumble, it would be on something like this. That one last ridiculous detail that makes the whole situation unbelievable.

She tries to let it go.]

I can imagine. That really sounds like something else.

[Daisy laughs bitterly at that.]

Yeah.

Which is saying something considering all the stuff we've seen back home.

[The use of we is interesting. Natasha files it away for later. For the time being, she'll stay on topic—other questions can wait for later.]

If those show up, it might be time to officially retire.

That's cute. We both know retiring from SHIELD never works out.

[Daisy left them on pretty bad terms and they were still trying to bring her back.]

You're not exactly wrong about that.

[But SHIELD isn't exactly trying to bring her back into the fold right now as it is. Natasha has to wonder just when Daisy is from, if she doesn't know that. Or maybe she does? Hard to say how things shake out that way, and Natasha holds back from asking outright.]

So far, I've had a pretty good record.

Really?

[Yeah. She didn't know.]

How did that happen? You know, if you want to talk about it.

[Did Natasha know about her? After all, she had been all over the news. Maybe she didn't know. Or maybe she didn't want to ask.]

[It might be a little early to answer that question how it deserves.]

Well, I left the KGB for SHIELD, and SHIELD for the Avengers.

[That's all public knowledge already.]

Seems to have worked so far.
