[For those that know Seth, he's looking much better than he has for months. Pulled together, all sharp creases and straight lines. There's no dark circles under his eyes and he doesn't seem to have a glass in front of him. At least for now.

He also looks bitterly amused.]

A guy goes out into the woods for one freaking week to try and get his head on straight and you all go nuts. Nice to see that much as some things change, everything else just remains the same.

With a week or so of sobering up and learning my paranoia apparently has jackshit to do with my diet of scotch and whiskey, I had a thought that came to me and if I have to live with these thoughts, so do the rest of you.

How do we know that everyone that vanishes goes home? I mean, what if some of those that are positive about serial killers and criminals in our midst... [Hello, pot? This is the kettle.] ... what if they're right and someone's bumping people off and we just assume they're being sent home like so many others?

After that thought, not sure if sobriety will pay off but we'll see how long it lasts.

Yeah well, so technically is my brother, I guess, but he can't do shit like that.

[Okay maybe that is cruel of him to call Richie that but still.]

[Crowley makes a soft noise, like a scoff and a snort mixed together.]

Well not sure if it is but some would call him that. [He's hedging on it, more so than he often does, but also being more open about it than normally he is about Richie's nature.]

People throw around the word 'demon' too easily these days. [Crowley mutters, rolling his eyes.

It used to mean something. It used to be worse than calling someone a witch, but no one cares too much about that, now, either. Humans have long since come up with entirely different ways to drag each other through the proverbial muck.

'Liberal' is one of his personal favourites.]

[He probably shouldn't, but Seth laughs.]

Different. [He replies pointedly, though he isn't going to stop there, at least. Crowley rolls his eyes behind his sunglasses and shrugs.]

I'm going to run with the assumption that your brother wasn't created in Heaven and followed Lucifer out in his grand rebellion of Someone-knows-When.

No, he wasn't. He was born to a mother who deserted us when I was about two.

And then he was... Fuck. He died and didn't, and now he's different. Turned, I've heard some call it.

[Crowley tips his head slightly - subtly, enough that it could be missed, but it's at glaring sign that he's actually listening to anyone who knows how to read it.]

'Turned'. [He almost rolls his eyes. Almost. Sounds like something out of a vampire novel.] Cursed?

Cursed sounds about right. That bitch shot him and saved him. After she fucking worked on driving him mad.

It isn't a long drive but still.

[Anger and pain twist his words.]

[Crowley grimaces slightly. That tone in Seth's voice isn't new to him - he heard it, too, when he was coaxing him out of his static-state not so long ago.]

Poor son of a bitch. [He mutters.] But demons, where I come from? Fallen angels. Won't say it has to be the same for you.

Huh. Never realized that. Not much church in our childhood let me tell you.

[He snorts, seeming amused by that.]

Cursed works then. It may be the same in my life. I'm not even sure what else is in our world now, you know?

The church sends more people Downstairs these days than it keeps out of it, believe me.

[He shrugs. Fact of life right there, bud.]
