[Souji's sitting in the grass somewhere on the grounds. A fat gray dragon about the size of a schnauzer with very useless little wings is wandering around behind him. He's looking back at her before turning to the camera with a pensive expression.]

If this war turns out to be an actual war, what should we do about our pets?

[He figures they'll just have to be kept out of the way, but it worries him. He's had that dragon for over five years now, and she was a gift from someone important. He's sure everyone else with a pet feels the same way.]

Should we...I don't know, designate someone to look after them?

That's quite the valid concern! Thank you for bringing it to our attention, Narukami-kun! [He thinks of Mondo's pet dog, with much concern!]

We should indeed find someone to keep an eye on them. Perhaps even a group of people would do better, especially if there are a lot of pets! And where in the mansion should that be kept? Hmmm, that would be tricky, especially when we do not know the manner in which this war would be waged!

[Oh shit, Magnus hadn't really thought about that when he suddenly became the dog dad to seven dogs a few days ago.]

Uh, maybe we should make like a giant pet kennel to keep them all in if shit goes down? Maybe we can arrange to do shifts or make it a part of the Wonderland Guard or something.

[It's probably not on the same importance level than trying to make sure other people don't die, but he'd hate for something bad to happen to any dogs (or any other animals...~~but mostly dogs~~).]

[The war's coming. Sure, Archie was able to scoot out of the way when the Reaper landed--okay, more like launch himself out a fourth-story window and climb down the exterior wall by sheer force of will and feline disregard for physics--but Jay doesn't want to chance that again. [She's never seen a pet dragon before. Or if she has, she's forgotten.]

Um, maybe we could set up a safe place for them? Or um, some people could teach their pets to attack or protect them.

[Though not everyone would probably be good with that idea.]

[Did Beatrice just find a way to make herself useful?]

Well, I like animals more than people and I'm not planning on fighting unless I absolutely have to. I was planning on hiding, but I can hide with the mansion pets.

[ Monika stares. And stares some more. If ever there were something she never thought she'd see, it's Souji with a dragon, of all things.

For a good while, she keeps looking like she's going to say something then stops short. Once, twice, a third and fourth time. Eventually, words finally come out. ]

That's a dragon.

[Mettaton's eyes practically sparkle at that adorable creature lurking in the background before turning his attention back to the subject of the video.]

I don't know, honestly. I hadn't thought about what we could do with our pets since they usually seem to disappear during events or somehow be out of harm's way? But that's not always true either... and this doesn't seem like it will be a regular event.

[A beat, and then-]

Is that a dragon??? What an adorable thing, where did you get it?

[He looks around his room until he spots 4, safely perched on the windowsill, looking out over the grounds.]

sounds like we're gonna need a collective pet sitter.

I'm pretty sure my cat would lead the charge, actually...

[She doesn't reveal Shiro, but her hands are in front of her inside a large front pocket of her pink hoodie. Maybe she should be a little more surprised about someone having a dragon, but things are getting less and less surprising in Wonderland by the day.]

I always thought dragons fight things...I guess that's just in stories.

[It seems unfair to tell a tiny dragon it has to defend itself.]

Oh, no... [ Her heart hurts even thinking about that possibility. ] I didn't even consider that...

[ She can't stay behind to watch them, not with her experience in battle, but... desperately, she hopes that someone will. ]

Oren is a war hound and so he'll be at my side, but I also have Purrlock to think about, and there are so many other animals here...
