+ Unless-- Unless we're all part of the same dream +

Hello everyone! As you've probably noticed, things are a bit of a mess right now. In the last character event, the White Queen turned into the Jabberwocky and flew away, and Alice, her royal adviser, does not have the situation even remotely under control. She called an Address and was immediately called out for lying to the Mirror public about the situation. That being said, she's determined to do what she can to fix things, and to bring the White Queen back to her throne. Because surely this is all some big misunderstanding, right?

Alice (with the help of the Tweedles and the Treacle Trio) will attempt to conduct a magical seance on Thursday, June 6th. Seances call on those who aren't here anymore, right? It seems like a perfectly fine idea to Alice, and no one has thought to correct her. So up in the attic of the mansion, they will hold a magical seance and attempt to contact the other side.

However, this proves to be a bit too powerful. The spell will cast across the entirety of Wonderland (both Real and Mirror Side) and every single person in Wonderland, no matter what they were doing prior to the seance, will black out. When they awake, they will find themselves in a strange and twisted world outside of time - a different one than usual. Elements may seem familiar, but it's clearly a different place.

Welcome, Mirrors and Reals, to DREAM SIDE. The sky above is dark and speckled with far-off stars but the world below is unnaturally lit and bright. There is a mansion at its center, but it is warped and unusual, as though someone stretched it like taffy, but if you try to enter it, you'll find that the door is not just locked - it appears to be painted on, as though it is just static scenery. It isn't a mansion that can be entered, just a cartoon-ish mansion cobbled together from dozens of memories.

Dream Side, as you might have guessed from the name, is not a static place. It is built from the scraps of dreams of those who cross into that side of Wonderland. Characters on this side of Wonderland are not asleep, but the world they are in is shaped by the contents of their dreams. Unlike the glass between Real Side and Mirror Side, there does not seem to be an obvious thing connecting this Side of Wonderland to the other two - at least, not something visible.

They are not alone in this world either - because the girls were conducting a seance, they have inadvertently called upon the dead. For each time your character has died a mansion death, there will be a ghostly copy of them wandering Dream Side. They will look as standard ghosts do - pale and translucent, looking as they did the moment they died. They will have a tendency to haunt their current living version (and those who care about them), but they will not be able to speak directly with them. For Mirrors, these ghosts can be Unmade versions of themselves, if they were ever Unmade. Some ghosts might be hostile and some might just gently haunt from a distance - it will depend on the character and what they would do if they were a ghost how they behave.

Under the cut we have a few more details!

  • In the plot post we will have a thread for suggesting locations. This way, since this world is cobbled together from the dreams of many, people will know where their characters can go. No one is required to stay in a section that represents them - the world is big enough that they might not even choose to spend time there at all.

  • Characters will find that they no longer need to sleep while they are on Dream Side. They also won't have access to any items that weren't already on their person, but some locations may have doors in them that function the same way that closets do. It is up to your characters to guess and check to figure out which doors are closet doors, but they will function the same way closets do on Real Side and Mirror Side.

  • Dream Side is flexible - because it is made of dreams, characters may be able to influence their surroundings to a degree. It will essentially split into two categories:
    1. Characters who are normally good at lucid dreaming when they sleep will be able to bend the setting to their will (within reason) if they think about it hard enough.
    2. Characters who are very bad at lucid dreaming will also be able to bend the setting, but will be unable to control how it changes around them. For example, if they are scared, the area around them may become darker and more intimidating.

  • The longer they are on Dream Side, the more nightmarish the world will feel. People will start to increasingly feel like something is coming for them. For those who are not good at lucid dreaming, this will cause parts of the world around them to warp and become nightmare-ish, but those who are good at it may be able to resist. Some might feel it sooner but everyone should be feeling this to some degree by the 10th or 11th, even characters who are not being actively haunted by something. This, combined with the black starry sky, might seem familiar to those who were here last Ewaymas.

  • There will be a mingle log - the network devices will not work on Dream Side. The mingle will split into two sections - one is for character top levels, and the other will call for volunteers. Characters who are signed up in this section will receive a special encounter at a random point during the event. All volunteers should be available during the event - not necessarily every day all day, but enough to thread the thread. These encounters will be for giving out pieces of information about this Side of Wonderland, the plot, or other fun secret surprises!

What’s going on here? How do they get out of here? And just where is the Jabberwocky or the White Queen? (or both, perhaps, if the previous event is to be believed - do you believe it?) Time to put your thinking caps on, if you don’t get too distracted by this odd Dream Side you’ve all been transported to!

Please hit up our FAQ thread for any questions you might have, and hit up our locations thread to volunteer some locations for Dream Side! You’ll be able to add more to it while you’re threading as well, but this thread will give people an idea of what is freely available to be used. And finally, come plot with us here on this plot post! What are your characters doing? Who’s trying to figure out what’s going on and who’s just trying to survive with the least amount of trauma? Anyone’s Mirrors having some existential crisis-es or taking matters into their own hands, since Alice is clearly not the most competent leader? Come let us know in the comments!

And most importantly - have fun! ♥

Location: A small ten-minute stretch of New England forest! Some of the trees seem to have faces and ooze a thick black oily substance. There are no closets here, but later in the event people feeling particularly hopeless as they pass through may start to feel leaves and roots trying to grow around them.

DEAD END FLATS

[personal profile] charlastan 2019-06-04 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Location: It's a cheap motel that seems to be in the middle of a desert somewhere. All of the rooms look sort of like this inside and it looks like kind of a horrible place to have to stay, let alone live in long term because you don't have anywhere else to go. There are a few dozen rooms available and about half of them have functional mansion-style closets. Towards the end of the event you'll be able to hear gunshots and vague sounds of escalating violence outside if you're camped out in one of these rooms.

SCHOOL UNIVERSITY

[personal profile] howsitgoindude 2019-06-04 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Location: A traditional Japanese-style high school circa the 2000's, surrounded by cherry trees with blossoms constantly floating dramatically through the air. There don't seem to be any students or teachers, so no romancing the entire cast (I'm looking at you, Souji), but there's plenty of normal school things to check out-- chalkboards, gym clothes, box lunches, etc. The catch is that you can't actually interact with anything without pulling up a visual novel interaction menu with multiple choices...some of which make more sense than others. Oh, and the only things available from the closets seem to be "gifts" meant to woo a potential mate.

Location: A few blocks of a metropolitan city (NYC for those who recognize it) in the middle is a giant skyscraper emblazoned with a giant A. If people try to enter the building they will immediately find themselves on the top most floors. There are living quarters that look well used and slept in, a state of the art gym, a giant tech lab, a biology lab, kitchen, living room etc.

If you camp here in the beginning of the event you will get a sense of home and contentment and friendship; as the even goes on you will start to find the living room destroyed like there was a big fight in the middle of it. That contentment you felt will slowly turn into feelings of betrayal and a sense of being lost- unable to find home.

Location: A castle made entirely out of yarn and yet somehow has structural integrity. There's about an acre of grounds around it that seem to be made of candy and treats with ice cream bushes and one large stuffed animal tree. It feels like a safe cozy place to rest in, but later in the event, you'll be compelled to hide there forever and avoid the scary stuff and if you try to resist or a friend tries to pull you out, everything will start to decay and turn monstrous. There is a closet in the "mayor's office," but it only gives out adorable toy versions of anything you might ask for. Location: A small section of West Virginia forest. Specifically around a road leading to a run-down old bridge going over a steep gorge with a river at the bottom. The bridge is rotten and one side of it is completely gone - you could jump the gap if you took a run at it, but can't cross otherwise. An abandoned flat-bed truck (sans cargo) is found in the middle of the bridge, left hurriedly between both lanes. All around the forest you can hear the wheezing death-rattle of zombies- you might even hear a twig snap but no walkers come out to play. If that wasn't creepy enough, there's also creepy singing coming from the bridge. You won't see the singer, but there's a terrible sense of dread and loss in this place.

Welcome to Fabletown. It's run-down and neglected, full of crammed-together apartment blocks above strange stores. You'll see such stores as 'Chateau D'if Fencing Academy', 'I am the Eggman Diner', 'Webb n' Muffet Market', 'Glass Slipper Shoe Store' and a seedy looking strip-club called 'Puddin' and Pie'. Most of these businesses are closed. You can, however, go down some grimy stairs into a bar called The Trip Trap. It's a dive bar to be sure, but where the streets outside carry a feeling of resigned sadness, the bar feels safe and happy- a place of family. You're safe here.

Location: A large, bustling town surrounded with giant walls. Everything has an old-timey, medieval feeling to it. There is no electricity, or even anything powered by steam. Townspeople go about their day without noticing the dreamer.

While the dream is still pleasant, the town will stay fairly normal. However, when the nightmare begins to creep in, Pure-Type Titans will begin to appear in greater and greater numbers. The town will become a bloodbath as the Titans devour the citizenry.

Quick facts about Pure Titans:

-3 to 15 meters tall.
-Often grossly deformed.
-Barely sentient, and are driven entirely by the need to eat humans.
-Stupid enough to fall directly into traps or for other kinds of misdirection.
-Have no real physical need to eat and have no digestive organs. When they have eaten their fill, they vomit up the dead bodies in order to consume more humans.
-There is only one way to kill a Titan. The area where the brain stem meets the spinal cord must be severed. They will quickly regenerate from any other kind of damage, including having their heads blown off.
-All Titans were once human, but have no real memory of their past lives.
-For some reason, Titans with female features are rare.

WIRT, STAN, TOHRU and MIRROR STAN

[personal profile] charlastan 2019-06-05 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Wirt will be pretty terrified of this place, but he's going to try and keep out of the section that is very deliberately based on his subconscious...though, he gets lost very easily, so he'll probably wind up back there entirely by accident now and then. He's not really a lucid dreamer at all, so when he gets worked up and anxious the world around him will have an absolute field day warping and twisting. He's not going to have a good time, especially if he's by himself. There will be two Wirt ghosts wandering around of him, both wearing his old gnome costume. One will seem to be soaked to the bone and is missing his hat, and the other has a gruesome head wound, but they both act the same way. They seem drawn to people Wirt knew in life, and have a tendency to lurk around them, but if someone looks at them directly, they'll vanish.

Stan is mostly focused on just trying to survive in this place, and he'll find a place with a functional closet and try to stick around that general area for the most part. He's actually canonically a fantastic lucid dreamer, so once he gets that he can actually push back against this place a little he'll try a little harder to find his people and get them out of trouble. If you want this old man to give your character a hand, let me know! There will be two Stan ghosts, one dressed in old timey clothes but otherwise seemingly unharmed, and the other has a large stomach wound from a laser gun that looks like it bled quite a bit. The one in old timey clothes will be more mischievous than malevolent, but the one with the stomach wound is stuck in the mood he was in when he died - furious.

Tohru will probably try Granny's Diner on Main Street first, but without anything but lasagna there, she can't really do much. She'll probably settle in School University, because even with its unusual menus it's still more familiar than most other things (unless I come up with a location for her). She's not a lucid dreamer and will be prone to her emotions and thoughts warping things, though probably not as badly as Wirt. Even though her death toll has been reset since she was re-apped, I'm still going to bring back two Tohru ghosts. One was stabbed in the chest, and the other has a very severe neck wound, and they will appear to people who could use a calming presence. ...Unfortunately, neither Tohru ghost looks particularly comforting, so when someone inevitably has a bad reaction to their approach, they will vanish instantly.

I'll be skipping Mirror Wirt and Mirror Tohru unless something comes up for either of them, but Mirror Stan will hate this turn of events because he will be haunted by everyone's favorite Grunkle, Mirror Stan 1.0 Grunkle Lee. He's a gentle ghost who lurks around but in particular will be interested in this new version of himself. Mirror Stan will get the sense that this dead version of himself is judging him, whether he is or not (whether he's capable of that or not) and will spend most of the event just trying to get away from him.

HALA / THE SUPREME INTELLIGENCE

Location: The Supreme Intelligence can only be reached by taking a shuttle through the city of Hala. There's no access to the rest of the city, only the shuttle, but as you pass through, you'll see skyscraper like structures, unlike anywhere on Earth. Hala is the center of the Kree Empire, and they treat it as such.

Once the shuttle reaches it's destination, if you follow up the stairs and step on the platform in the center, the world will abruptly change focus and you'll be in the middle of the stark white room, with the person you admire most, living or dead, even if you don't remember them. The Supreme Intelligence is here to ease your worries, act as a confidant and see how your skills best be applied for the good of all Kree.

As things get more nightmarish, however, this being's true colors will begin to show. You will be used for the good of all Kree. Whether you want to be or not.

Location:: It's a two story casino/arcade! The first floor is where you'll find the prize counter, which functions like a closet except you have to earn casino coins from the games and slots on the bottom floor to pay for any of your stuff. Luckily, there is no actual price put on anything, just as long as you place at least 100 coins on the table. Easy to get that when all the games are free play and they all pay out at least 10 coins per play. You could also try your luck at the Monomono Machine, which only costs at least one coin to play but will only spit out random items (Anything from the list except the underwear and post-chapter items).

As the event drags on, the screens on all the games will be playing this creepy video, rendering the games unplayable. This is probably a good thing, since all you can get at the prize counter now are portraits of your dead friends/family/important people from home with their faces crossed out in red ink. At least the monomono machine is free to play now.

FLOODED CITY

[personal profile] ssmisery 2019-06-05 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Location: A few blocks of what was apparently some kind of alien city; the buildings are sleek, unadorned metal walls in blue-grey and green-grey, on all sides and all so staggeringly tall that it feels more like being at the bottom of a ravine. Oh yeah and let's not forget the whole thing is underwater. Everyone can breathe and talk just fine, and somehow gravity still wants you to walk along the ground -- you can break away and swim if you try, but it's harder the further up you try to go. Fish and other ocean fauna roam freely, having made themselves at home, and here and there some determined stands of sea vegetables have managed to break through the streets' metallic shell. The light that filters down from above will dim further as the event goes on, and this penned-in space among the giant imposing buildings may start to seem pretty claustrophobic.

There is little trace of whoever built the city. The buildings are so committed to their inhospitable harsh-utilitarian aesthetic that it's hard to even find a door or window, and inside they barely have so much as furniture, which is in any case likely to be ruined and/or colonized by sea creatures. The same can be said for any remaining scraps of broken-down technology. However, solely because I'm nice, if you look hard enough, you might in fact find a door somewhere that functions as a closet. Why not, it's a dream.

She'll also have a (light) stab wound in her hand. Living Claire will be trying to make sure Jamie doesn't jump off a bridge because of this, but!! She'll also be searching through different locations in search of friends and such.

Also, she's not really a lucid dreamer, so there very well could be nightmare Wentworth prison. Maybe.

Michonne has 3 ghosts omg all u lucky folks. Ghost #1 looks perfectly fine but she has no heart. (There's no wound, thanks OUAT magic.) Because she has no heart, this ghost will be a real spoopy haunter, glaring but if you step closer poof, gone. Your left with the essence of angry samurai.

Ghost #2 technically is zombie!Michonne??? Not that the ghost will bite (and it wouldn't do anything if it did) but if you ever wanted to see...Michonne as a zombie with no risk I guess this is your time?????

Ghost #3 is killed by a...what was it called? That lil' demon baby thing in the Tower event? A changeling? Whatever it was it looked like her son and then murdered her so she has a nice gaping neck wound from that. Dealer's choice in haunting okay, let's go; u, me, and the neck gusher.

The second has its neck broken, so have another bent-neck-ghost. The third, which is my personal favorite, has his rib cage cracked open and his chest cavity full of Valentine's candy hearts. And ghost four just has a bad, bloody wound in his side. So if you want any of these fine gentlemen to come and bug you, that is a thing I can make happen. If characters remain in the area long enough, they can hear the echoes of screaming and gunshots around them, although there is no way to pinpoint the location they are coming from.

There are closets, but they won't be reliable. You can get food, but some of it may already be rotten. Sometimes, regardless of what you ask for, you'll just get a hoard of monarch butterflies. Be careful, they bite, and throughout the event will become more antagonistic.

Chloe, Julia, & Juliet

[personal profile] thereporter 2019-06-06 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Chloe has ONE ghost to offer. This ghost will be wandering around in a half-zombie state, complete with a pretty horrific gunshot wound to the head. She might be close to you, but she might also just stand in the corner and haunt you from a distance.

The undead Chloe will be doing her best to steer clear of the more creepy places, although she'll be having a hell of time shaking her own ghost.

Julia has no mansion deaths. Contrary to Chloe, she will be focused on exploring every single new location that has arrived and chronicling it. Chances are, if she figures out a place belongs to your character, she will have a lot of questions. The radio station is from her world.

Juliet has no mansion deaths. She will just be trying to round up the people who are important to her - primarily the people that she has been ignoring. She'll be pretty freaked out by all of this, and doing her best to ignore how freaked out she is.

Please hit me up for any plotting or ghostly wants!

Louis, Sunburst and Grendel

[personal profile] teamfun 2019-06-06 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Louis has ONE ghost wandering around. Thanks to the fact he turned it'll be a zombie ghost but at least it won't be looking to eat anyone- there will be huge claw marks in its chest and a bullet hole in its head. It'll mostly follow alive Louis around but it will break off to go loom around his loved ones like a creeper if they come near the live Louis.
Louis himself will be trying to find his loved ones- he'll keep ending up on that awful bridge he hates and he'll peace out of there as soon as possible each time- he'll be moving around A LOT though so if you want him, he can be there.

Sunburst will ironically not spend ALL his time in his own dreamscape- he has some magical stuff to research and after everything he's heard about the Jabberwock, he's expecting a sighting. You'll find him wandering around especially magical places, with a notebook and quill ready to learn stuff.

Gren won't be around a lot- once he finds his own dreamscape he's going to hole up in the Trip Trap and avoid everyone because he hates everything. He's there if people want to talk to him and see a weird fairy tale character refugee home.

THE ABATTOIR

[personal profile] deathlessness 2019-06-06 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Location: Set in the middle of the French Quarter, Louisana, the Abattoir has barely changed since it was originally built during the early days of colonization. The three story brick building opens into a furnished courtyard used for entertaining guests and (frequent) parties. The home base of the Mikaelson siblings while they're in the city means there are rooms for each of them, and each private room is marked with the sign of who it belongs to two Fs, an E, two Ks, and a R. Those doors are locked when their owner isn't present (so Elijah, Finn and Rebekah's are permanently closed for obvious reasons).

The setting will remain serene for the most part. The Abattoir has always thrived when there are people present, so it will do it's best to draw you in. Maybe it's the sound of a Mikaelson party, fancy dress and booze abounding, or the sound of a parade lingering just outside the windows, whether it's for a wedding or a second line, it's hard to say. Everything sounds like a celebration, no matter what.

If you linger in the space too long, however, you might notice the way things seem to flicker around the edges. There might be a splash of blood on the floor or walls that disappears almost as suddenly as it was there. Maybe the sound of the brass band outside distorts just slightly, or the roar of the party turns to that of a shouting mob. By the end of the event, the building itself will be in complete disarray, alone and abandoned just as it had been for the last five years of the Mikaelsons' life. A cracked facade, waiting for someone to come and breath life back into it again.

SECRET CDC LAB

[personal profile] choosetruth 2019-06-06 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Location: From the outside, it could be a normal building. Once you're in, though, it's a maze of white rooms and two-way mirrors, though it isn't til the later parts of the event that you'll be sure anything's watching through them. Everything is sterile and white. There are sterile white cabinets that almost blend into the wall, but to use them you'll first have to do a blood test to prove you're not a zombie. Once inside, you can only get bland hospital food or soft white clothes. Nothing that could possibly be used as a weapon. Nothing that can help you get out.

THE MAN CAVE

[personal profile] krmvgivv 2019-06-06 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Location: Home of the Manotaurs, the Man Cave is a naturally occurring cave that's filled with all things manly. There's a gym and a foosball table, other sports related and fighting stuff, a giant gong, lots of bones lying around, and, of course, a PAIN HOLE. That's exactly what it sounds like. You put your hand in and you experience PAIN.

No closets. It's way more manly to throw your clothes on the floor and HUNT YOUR FOOD. LIKE MEN.

That being said, music from a certain icelandic pop group can be heard faintly throughout the caves.

Clementine's House

[personal profile] waitin 2019-06-07 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Location: It's a house with a tree house in the backyard. It looks like it was once a home, might feel that way at first too. The closets in the kitchen give out food, but the kind of food an eight year old might eat only and nothing else. Another closet might give out weapons if you want them, but they're not guns or knives. No, these weapons are hammers-- only hammers. The answering machine contains messages that will play on a loop whether they are selected or not. There's a splotch of blood against the wall and one on the ground (watch out, don't slip on it!). As the place turns nightmare-ish, there will be the sound of walkers in the background, and an overwhelming sense of emptiness and loss.

Clementine

[personal profile] waitin 2019-06-07 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Clementine has ONE ghost wandering around from when she was eleven years old. She can be found some in her childhood home, which is mostly very nice except for the extra flavor of creepy/sad added in with the voicemail messages and blood and eventual walker sounds. She'll also be looking for the people that she cares about as much as she can, and she'll be trying to figure out what the fuck is happening, worrying about the Jabberwocky, but also probably revisiting her home at least once more so she can hear her mom's voice again cause she forgot what it sounded like. It's been eight years, okay?

Mirror!Clementine: Hoo boy, Mirror!Clementine is pissed. She's been at the end of her rope for awhile, but now that there are no Queens to have this unmake-power hanging over her head, she wants to burn shit to the ground. If there are still no Queens after this plot, I can only imagine Mirror!Clementine's going to come over on the Real side, and nothing's gonna stop her, and she'll have to be forced back, but that's a player plot for another time. BUT if any mirrors are feeling similarly, Clem's about to say Fuck this leadership, fuck it all, time to take control! :E She was a leader of a group of people before so she's not against that, but she also doesn't have a lot of powers beyond being a really damn good aim with a gun.

The Hanged Man

[personal profile] bloodmagics 2019-06-07 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Location: The Hanged Man, a run down tavern that smell as bad as it looks. In back are four bedrooms, and each closet door in those functions as normal, but a door in the main room will only serve questionable alcohol, including a hangover cure named Pig Oat Mash and mystery meat stew, featuring a different mystery meat every time you get some!

Louis is 100% drop by the treehouse he wants to see it after hearing about it, wow. And then he'll feel bad about the messages because why not continue our delightful happy sad train as always.

Mirror!Sunburst is also VERY much done with the status quo, and he'd side with her if she decided on a coup. BURN IT TO THE GROUND.

SWEET. I will reply to his post with her so they can meet up on spooky murder bridge before heading forward to her house. She'd want to show him the tree house . And both their ghosts will just be hanging out through all this. Gotta love our delightful happy sad train. It's like how I felt upon seeing Lee on the train in Clem's dream (delightful happy and sad all at once).

Y A S. She is definitely going to decide on that. Together they will burn it to the Ground. Fuck the police, fuck the queens!
