[ What remains from the event is not the image of a dying man on a flickering screen. What lingers on Buckingham's mind is the sensation, or rather its utter absence, of warm skin and pliable flesh transformed into unyielding metal. Cold metal, he would guess, but of course he could not truly know. He could, in fact, know preciously little beyond the impossibly distant haze through which he navigated a world he could not taste, smell, or feel.

The thought is to be banished from his mind as soon as possible, as thoroughly as he can, and without lingering to even receive George's transmission, before he knocks at her door. ]

[...Tohru reminds her of Dolores, kind of. Maybe a slightly less bizarrely punk rock version of her. Same sort of mothering instincts and all that. And if she was back home, yeah, she'd probably go to Dolores eventually. Or Dolores would accost her about it, anyway.]

[George squints a little at that first suggestion. The girl doesn't really talk like she's legitimately a queen, but, uh.]

...Was that a real thing that happened? You being a queen?

[The games and all sort of throw it in a weird light. Not that she thinks the girl is lying or anything but. Yeah.

She might take her up on the game offer later. When she starts feeling pissed again. Right now she's just...sad.]

[George has had a few people visit, at this point. But the pain is still there. She has the feeling it always will. What she saw was too plausible. She hadn't even realized it was something she feared until she saw it, but there it was. Something she dreaded into nonexistence in her mind, burning out of a screen.

The image fades with time, with support. But it's still there, blinding her from remembering she isn't expecting anyone else for the time being. When she looks up at Buckingham, she trembles.]

[She doesn't have the will to keep him out. Part of her hopes he's not horrible enough to over stay his welcome when she's feeling so fucked up. Another part is glad for the familiar company.

Yeah. She, uh. She was kind of a weird kid. I mean, it wouldn't really surprise me if she...if she did that.

[It's just that it'd probably be George's fault. Because she died. Because she gave Reggie that obsession with death.]

It was this LARPing thing we did. Loads of fun, would totally do it again. Had ourselves a big war and everything. [ And here's a little eyebrow wiggle. ] Got to meet a fairy, that was a once in a lifetime experience. [ Pause. ] Guess being in Wonderland can qualify as that, too.

[George nods. She'd never argue that a pet is any better than a sister. She lost a dog that wasn't even really her pet and was devastated. She has no place to judge.]
