Zack knew it could happen -- knew it probably would happen -- but it still hurts. He has to wait a good hour before he can actually keep it together enough to click on his device. ]

[ Just like that. Somehow, Wonderland seems so much dimmer in her absence. It's a minor miracle that he manages to keep his voice steady. ]

Her room is empty so I guess...that means she went home.

[ An awkward pause, then- ]

[ With that, he cuts off the feed. ]

[It's hard knowing the right thing to say in a situation like this, so Kunsel takes his time with his words. He's glad that others are quick to offer their condolences, that Cloud was quick to go to Zack in his hour of need...but Kunsel doesn't want to smother his friend. He knows Zack all too well. The First would be liable to put on a brave face if too many closed in at once, all worried about him. Because that is the kind of person Zack is, the kind who hates worrying his friends...]

[In the end, that's probably why Kunsel sticks with texting, the same as he's always done.]

[ Is there ever really a right thing to say?

Zack doesn't know. He just hurts, and words aren't especially effective in filling the void he now feels deep in his heart.

He understands the sentiment, though, the intentions of the people giving them, and it's that knowledge that really actually helps. He still has friends here, and even though the love of his life is gone, there are others who will stand by his side. ]
