action/video/mirror writing

[Souji rises early and gets a bottle of red ink and a brush from the closet before heading down to the entrance hall. He sets his camera down a little ways away on a table and turns on the feed to broadcast what he's about to do.

On a large mirror there, he paints the following message:]

To the Queen of Hearts—
I'd like to speak to you.
It's about your sword.
—瀬多総司

[He steps aside and lets that stay on the network for a few seconds, then retrieves his camera and shuts it off.]
pottershotter: (For so long I thought)

[James can't read the signature, but it's being broadcast by Souji and that's more than enough to make him reply.]

The Queen of Hearts? Souji, what are you doing?

[He appreciates the bravery, but the Queen of Hearts is dangerous and mad and not someone that anyone should be taking on by themselves. And yet here Souji is, calling her out, and James hasn't heard anything about a plan. His friend instincts are screaming "Why in Merlin's name are you trying to do this by yourself?!"]

Why? She's already a horrid double-crosser. She'd probably just take any information you've got, get the sword back, and then not kill the Jabberwocky out of spite.

[He seriously wouldn't put it past her.]
pottershotter: (But I swear that you've got me all wrong)

Really?

[That's...surprising. And it doesn't sound like him at all as far as he knows. He's actually left stumped for a minute, trying to think of any conceivable scenario where he would advocate allying with the Queen of Hearts for anything and he's not coming up with anything.]

Err. ...I mean, I suppose he would know better, but...

[It's clearly not processing as something he would do.]
pottershotter: (What's the sense in waiting?)

Right, right. I just don't see why she has to be the one to hold onto it when she's been such a tyrant. I mean, anyone could swing it, right?

[Couldn't one of them find her sword? Or maybe even one of the other locals would be a better owner than the Queen of Hearts or the Duchess.]

pottershotter: (This is easy)

[He looks sort of frustrated at that first question. He wants to protest really badly, and it's obvious, but...Souji's also obviously right. They can't risk it.]

Well, she's got personality alright...

[It's not a good personality, but it's there.]
pottershotter: (I've gotta be honest)

[Well, even James can't argue that.]

Fair enough, I suppose. We can always worry about what she'll do with it later, once the Jabberwocky's gone, but for now...

[Ugh. He doesn't like this.] For now, I guess we haven't got much of a choice.
pottershotter: (I'll be useful)

[These are qualities that also describe James, so he's a little wary at first. ...But, ultimately, he trusts Souji. And he will usually listen to that trust blindly instead of taking in the obvious facts.]

Mm. You'd better not! If you do, I'll have to come rescue your arse, and I will be absolutely sure to say "I told you so" at least a dozen times.

[Even so, he would definitely come to his rescue in a heartbeat if he needed it.]
pottershotter: (I'll be cavalier)

[At first, he's unsure what Souji's trying to do - it's a little hard to tell over video. But then it clicks and he grins wide and does the same, holding his fist out to "meet" Souji's.]

Good! I'll hold you to it, then.
