[The camera is focused on a large tea cup, somewhere in the mansion, and there appears to be something humming inside it. After a moment, there's some muttering - not truly singing but there is something of a tune trying to crawl out.]

There it goes...my last chance for peace...lay me down, but...I get no release...

...I try to keep..._awake...trytoswim'neath...still...can feel this narcolepsy s l i i i d e...to 'nother nightmare....

[The Dormouse goes alarmingly quiet in his cup. Then, he hums something different, but not at all unrelated. The feed cuts out abruptly mid-hum.]

[A talking mouse??? That catches Peter's attention. He watches the little guy in the tea cup, singing.

He wonders perhaps he might know where to find him a wand.]

Hello? That's an interesting song. Are you... are you really a mouse?

[The Dormouse leans hard on the edge of the cup. It seems the reason he isn't quite singing is because he's actually very much asleep. Still, that doesn't stop him. He doesn't answer his question properly, but he does acknowledge Peter with his words, spoken with some vague tune to them.]

Everybody needs to know...it's the year of the rat. Every day...we've got to hold on...'cause if we hold on...we could find some new energy...

[Peter has to admit the mouse is rather adorable while asleep but his words strike him hard like a punch to the chest.

Year of the rat? It couldn't be just a coincidence. He'd been in Wonderland long enough to know that.]

[It seems the little fellow has taken it upon himself to change a word to make it fit.]

[Tilting his head slightly as if that'll help him see into the cup.]

Are you drunk little one?

[As if on cue, he pokes his sleepy head out, but his eyes are still shut and he still seems asleep.]

No...I'm just tired...and on a swing you push me hard so I'll come back to where you are...and you know...I'm never far.

...No decisions, nothing hard.

[And his sleepy hums continue.]
