So, according to the Dormouse, it’s finally time for a Hogwarts AU event! Get ready for your crash course in Harry Potter Canon!


Your character is now a Witch or Wizard at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and has been for as long as they can remember. Congratulations! They’re there for one of two reasons:

1) They are a student. Students are between the ages of 11 and 18 (first year – seventh year students), and are sorted into one of four Houses based on their personality – Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. If your character is older or younger than that age range, it is perfectly fine to age them up or down accordingly for the event. Everyone of the same gender, year, and house will be rooming together, whether they like it or not. Non-binary students will be assigned to gender-neutral dormitories (marked with an N in the chart). If you're having trouble picking a house, try a sorting quiz!

2) They are a Professor. Alternatively, you can keep your character an adult and have them be a Professor. Positions are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We heavily suggest that you only sign your character up to be a professor if you’re going to be around this weekend – don’t be that guy that claims a handful of professor spots and then doesn’t play at all. Nobody likes that guy.

If someone has already claimed the teaching position you wanted for your character, you can do a one of a few things:

1) Talk to the other mun: The person who took it might be interested in co-teaching the class, or dividing it into Advanced/Rudimentary versions of classes, or whatever solution you can come up with.
2) Make up a class: Why not? If there’s nothing that fits your character but you have a cool idea for a magical class they could teach anyway, go for it! Just let us know and we’ll add it.
3) Pick a random class: Again, why not? There are a lot of classes to claim, so it might be fun to have them teaching something else.
4) De-age them and make them a student: As mentioned before, you can also age characters down and make them students if you want to.

We also need four Professors to step up and act as Heads of the four houses. These characters would be alumni of the four houses – one for Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. We’re only allowing one Head house position per mun, NO exceptions, since there are only four slots. The same is true of Quidditch Captains - one captain position per mun, no exceptions.

Similarly, we need prefects! There are six prefects per house - two in fifth year, two in sixth, and two in seventh. Typically there is one boy and one girl, but it could of course go to a non-binary student. There will be no head boy or girl for this event.

If your character is non-human, you may either humanize them or have them be a magical species from within the canon. Also, this is an AU event, meaning that everyone will believe they were always a part of the Wizarding World.

Finally, please do NOT sign up for a position (whether it's as professor, prefect, or quidditch position) if you are NOT going to be here for the event. We are very backtag-friendly here, but it's not fair to people who will be around during the event.

I think that about covers it! I’ll keep adding to the table as we get more sign-ups and changes and such. If anyone needs any more sources, The Harry Potter Lexicon and Harry Potter Wiki are both great. Classes will be held on regular schooldays (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during the event) and this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) will conveniently be a Hogsmeade weekend for Students Third Year and above. Hooray!

Peter Petrelli

Peter is a Gryffindor and is in his sixth year. The sorting hat was going to put him into either Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, but eventually he was sorted into something he was more inclined towards based on his concern for what his family would think! It’s well known that the Petrellis were all Slytherins and Peter's the first who's sort of strayed from that. He gets teased for being the only non-Slytherin in the family whenever he goes home, but takes it all in good stride.

During the school holidays, Peter spends a lot of his time volunteering at St Mungos, just helping out and learning from the Healers as he’s keen on saving lives much to the chagrin of his entire family. Boo!

As for his studies, he's good at Potions, Transfiguration and DADA, but mostly sucks at Arithmancy. Dude needs to focus more of his attention on his studies, but has this tendency to daydream during classes…

He doesn't play Quidditch, but he's always around whenever someone needs help mending any scrapes or bruises.

Peter's always thought he'd go work at St Mungos after finishing Hogwarts, but lately has been focusing most of his attention on DADA -- slowly but surely obsessing over wanting to do more, believing that he's meant for bigger things. BOOM!

awww, peter. i kind of want to use this opportunity to get established peter and iris cr, since they're both sixth year gryffs. iris is prefect, and she'd be a hands-on prefect at that, so she'd know everyone in their year pretty well, i think. let's get these cuties up and running. ❤

omigosh yes, they'd be the cutest study partners, and iris is known for being a grounding influence on those around her. she'd gently yank peter down from those clouds. the petrellis and the wests knowing each other would also be cool, and i think they could know each other feasibly ALSO DO IT it's my favorite thing in the world

He has a sphinx - a mean hairless cat he calls chicken because seriously when it's just lying curled up in a corner, it looks like a atfsgdjfk defeathered chicken! @.@ He also has an owl, but it got way too fat over the summer and he couldn't stuff him in the cage so it got left at home.
