[ It's been a while since Sharon made any sort of announcement over the network, and for the most part, she likes it that way. All too often, the network seems to carry horrible news - this person is missing, that person hasn't been seen in so long, that person is still here, things like that.

But for this, she'll make an exception. Even if it isn't what she would consider work-related.

Yeah. She has personal curiosity. What're you gonna do, punk? ]

Apparently, there are some worlds out there with time travel. And reincarnations where people spout wings and bond together with fusion. Zombies, obviously. Invisible zombies, less obviously. And there's probably more weird stuff than that.

So, I'm curious. Anyone out there willing to give me a science lesson about how the hell things work back home? I'm not an expert, but I like to think I'm no slouch, either. I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around some things and want to have a better understanding.

Alright. Should we begin with time travel, or perhaps increasing speed? We could even reverse gravity.

Reverse gravity? You mean, like, flying?

I mean creating an anti-gravity field.

[agentxthirteen]

[ Sharon considers that for several seconds. ]

Would lessons about anti-gravity fields include making an anti-gravity field?

They're not something to be used lightly.

But okay, okay. This isn't about making dreams come true, it's about learning. Fine. She gets it.

She straightens up and sighs. ]

Okay. Let's start with time travel, then, please.

I based it on Gestalt principles. Technically it's a "temporal consciousness transfer engine", given that you're not physically taken anywhere.

So time moves, but place doesn't?

[ Is she right so far, teach? ]

Both move. Just because your body hasn't physically moved doesn't mean that you won't be somewhere else.

[agentxthirteen]

[ Sharon stares at her. She clearly is having some difficulty with this.

Normally, if she were dealing with this on the fly, she would accept it and move on. But since she currently has time to try to understand it, she's going to take advantage. ]

So... you're in two places at once, but your consciousness is only in one place?

Maybe this isn't the topic you should have started with.

[ Sharon fights to suppress the urge to stick out her tongue. ]

Zombies seem to crop up a lot here. And after the invisible zombies, how about tackling invisibility and seeing if I do better with that?

And just what of invisibility do you wish to know? As admirable as making yourself knowledgeable is it's all a little vague.

It's hard to be precise when I don't know enough to be. [ Honestly. Come on, super-geniuses. ]

So back home, they were working on tech to make people invisible, but the nearest they could get was camouflage. But to follow up on some of their attempts, how could you refract light around a moving object so that it would appear to be invisible?
