Wirt does exactly that, gently placing the books on the bed, but he does perch on the edge. He's given the books more room than himself, but he doesn't seem to mind.

Despite the anxious words, he's genuinely excited as he plucks a book off the top of the pile. "I found a collection by William Carlos Williams! I think he's probably my favorite American poet? He does like, amazing things with the rhythm of his poetry. The spacing really gives each line a punch of importance and it's just...melodic, when you're reading any of it out loud."
Any poet that makes Wirt want to read their work out loud is worthy of note for that alone. Someday he'd like to be as good at triadic stanzas as William Carlos Williams.
