If they're not part of Wonderland, what else can even they be?
[Lapis does not have strong opinions about the whole simulation theory. That's largely a deliberate choice, since it's obvious that pursuing it too hard would quickly go nowhere good; she doesn't get computers, and she already knows they're trapped in something terrible, which is the important part. Until the day Peridot successfully does hack into the system, it doesn't matter that much whether it's software or an elaborate magical pocket dimension or anything else.
She generally goes along with it anyway, since it's not like she has better ideas. In the end, regardless of any underlying reality, Lapis is never going to think about things the same way Peridot does, which is probably for the best. Questions like this one ultimately work either way.]
