[It isn't a very confident answer that Lucy gives him, but instead of completely opposing his words, there is a shred of hope in what she says. Someone so young who's been through so much isn't likely to have a lot of self-esteem.

And if she's willing to offer help, that must mean that she has some faith in herself, or at least the potential to find it.
