The Girl in the Sweater - which is exceptional, actually, and he knows a certain knitting detective who would be impressed by the workmanship - is friendly enough to offer him a hand, skeptical as he is about physical contact with children. On a fundamental level children are sticky creatures, and while the baker in him does not mind stickiness with regards to honey and/or fruit, humans are a different matter entirely.
