[The entire video is taken up by a wet canine nose, sniffing loudly. Then it pulls away and the owner - a brown and black dog with a red leather collar covered in strange runes.

The dog barks several times, rather loudly. Those particularly familiar with dogs might notice it sounds a bit off. Like someone doing an admittedly very good impression of a dog's bark. Still, not 100% authentic. Then the dog sighs and sits back.]

I suppose with all the other oddities here there’s no point in pretending to be a typical dog. [Yes, the dog talks. With a rather pleasant feminine voice in fact.]

I am the Disreputable Dog, and I must say, this place has the most fascinating smells. Really can’t complain. On any other occasion I would love to wander around this fine building you all have here and see what there is to see. But I have a rather pressing issue currently. Has anyone seen a young woman answering to Lirael? Pale skin, dark hair, painfully shy? See, we were rather in the middle of a grand adventure. Saving the world you know. And I'm pretty sure she can't do it without me.

[Toothless doesn't pay his comm too much attention, as a rule. It's difficult for him to use. But when he notices what's on it, talking, like a Viking, the Night Fury stares. What in the...?

He rumbles, confused, at the screen.]

[She's not impressed per se - she's seen a lot and a dragon is hardly the strangest. But if she had an eyebrow to cock, she would.]

[A talking dog is sort of near the top of Toothless', well, very eccentric list. Though it still doesn't beat the Wingless Vikings who can fly and project their thoughts into your head. He cocks his head to the side, his second rumble much more questioning. He's seen a few Vikings that resemble the one the... canine... speaks of, but he doesn't think any of them are 'Lirael'.]

Not much of a talker are you, big guy? No worries. Lirael wasn't either sometimes.

[A pause and then a smile]

Do you like adventures?

[His ears shift forward - really, he isn't any kind of talker, unless rumbles count - before she asks her question. Then he gives her an emphatic nod. Adventures are good. Adventures take his mind off of things. Even when they're dangerous, or perhaps especially when they're dangerous. It's like being back at home, with Hiccup.]

[A return nod]

Then I'm sure we'll get along just fine. What's the point of being somewhere new if you don't go exploring and such?

[no_eels]

[Toothless nods, though he's explored plenty and knows all about the strangeness of the woods. Still, they can be nice, if you need a break. The mansion can be even more confusing, overall.

But having something around that isn't Viking-shaped will be nice. He trills quietly, in agreement, in the back of his throat.]

[In her mind, there's always more to discover, so she smiles ]

After all, you can fly! I can too sometimes, but it's a lot of work making the wings and such

[A noise, perfectly confused, escapes the dragon's mouth. He regards Dog with some suspicion and doubt. She's a canine. She doesn't have wings, and canines can't make wings. Can they? What is she talking about?]

[justadog]

[Now she's smiling broadly. She lifts a paw and wiggles her toes, which are currently quite a bit more longer and more finger like than a dog's should be]

I'm hardly a normal dog. That would be boring!

[no_eels]

[Toothless absorbs that for a moment. Not a normal canine? But what does that make her? Is she kind of dog-shaped Wingless Viking? He rumbles, curious about what she means.]

[justadog]

I'm kinda special. But that just makes things more fun, right?

[no_eels]

[More fun... Well, it does seem boring to be a canine, confined to the ground, so that sounds right to him. The Night Fury nods, trilling quietly in the back of his throat.]
