--4 [video/action, backdate to day 1 lol] Talk You Up To Calm You Down
[Remember, all those weeks ago, when a horrible shriek echoed through Wonderland? It's here again, but closer - inside the former mansion. With you. <3
It starts from a room on the first floor, with banging and crashing and general sounds of destruction. The enraged screaming does stop, but the thumping and crashing doesn't - it just moves into the hallway, and further into the school.
It eventually stops in the gymnasium. Not the sounds - but whatever's making them seems to have settled there for the time being.
Some video either helpfully provided by terminals, security cameras, or her own communicator (pitched carelessly to the side, sitting amongst some smaller and less interesting debris) shows a gangly, diving-suit-clad figure throwing fireballs at the walls and windows, as well as pieces of gym equipment, from volleyballs to basketball nets - and not all of them with her hands. Some of them fly through the air physically unaided, only to smash or bounce or crush against the walls and barred windows.
She screams again, and jumps out of sight of the camera, but the noises of destruction are still audible. Especially if you're by the gym.]

action; whoops hello tl;dr
Once he snaps back to, and realizes that oh, she's creating a pretty massive mess, someone should probably do something about that before she hurts someone. ...Or kills them. He's worried this might be because of whatever secret she has that the place is threatening to tell everyone, and it could result in him getting hurt or...worse...but they're kind of friends, right? Maybe she'll listen to him and...stop breaking everything. And if anything, he's trained to deal with this sort of thing.
It's a rush down to the gymnasium, he's running as quickly as he can and just hoping to get there before someone ends up in her way and she throws them like she is the gym's equipment. And, when he arrives, the destruction he'd seen on was not quite as bad as seeing it in person, standing in the doorway.]
Hey-- [Wash calls out to her over the noise, raising a hand like that might help her notice him as he steps further into the gym. He keeps some distance between them for the moment, just in case she rounds on him, which doesn't seem like a huge stretch with how worked up she is, but ultimately he's as concerned about her as he is anyone that she might end up hurting.] Hey! I know this whole thing is...weird and upsetting, but I don't think destroying the mansion--or school, whatever--is really going to help you or anyone else. So, uh. Maybe you should calm down?
[Okay, so he's not good at negotiations, but he's trying.]
I'm sure we can sort this out in a manner that ends in less...wreckage.
action; yes good
Then she realizes she's not alone, and the sounds register, and she's angry -- She's woken up somewhere unfamiliar - someone took her - and the walls aren't yielding, and there's no ocean, and nowhere to go,
and no sisters, and now someone is here watching her act out! And telling her to what to do! Are they going to be mean too?!She whirls around and with a shout, throws the remaining (and luckily smaller) half of the bench towards whoever was speaking. That'd teach them -- well, something, she wasn't picky. More importantly, it'd make her feel better.]
action;
Of course, then she acknowledges him by spinning around and tossing half a bench at him. Having anticipated at least a possibility of something like this, Wash is quick to react. It does catch him a little by surprise, if only because he was hoping she'd recognize him and not try to shut him up by throwing things, but it's nothing he can't handle.]
Whoa-- [Dodging the bench half by leaping and rolling out of the way, he's back on his feet in seconds and turning to face her again. This time, he's even more prepared to duck out of the way of thrown objects, and if it's necessary, he's even ready to reach for his weapons -- but that's about the last thing he wants to do.]
Okay, okay! You're mad about this whole thing, I get it! But I'm just trying to help, okay? [He raises both of his hands in the air this time, almost like he's apologizing if he came off the wrong way, but also in part to show that he's not here to attack her, or...anything like that. He remembers her mentioning that people were mean to up here. Trying to speak as gently as possible while also, you know, dealing with some shock and slight panic given the current situation, Wash continues:] I swear! I mean, you can throw benches all you want, but I don't think it's going to change any of this! I know the threat to reveal your secrets is a piss off, but there are better ways to deal with it!
[That's what has her so angry, right? The secret thing? That's his assumption, at least.]
action;
But then - she gets a better look at the interloper, and his silhouette becomes recognizable - blocky, armoured, shiny-- oh!
She's still audibly breathing harshly, but she's standing still, at least and staring. Her head tilts, a little, but the assault has stopped, at least. And then she snaps out of it a bit more and straightens her posture entirely.
She knows him! It's the armoured man! The Protector from the surface! ... And she just threw a bunch of junk at him! And he saw her acting out like a poorly behaved Little girl-- oh no oh no oh gosh
She tries to think of something - to
saydo, to communicate - something -- and then how to - do that, exactly, and then what and how, and she hadn't expected to see him here - and her hands kind of hover uselessly in the meantime. Unconsciously, the rest of the debris, net and all, shoot behind her, as if to hide the evidence.Finally, she raises a hand partway. It's the one with the spear on the arm, and there's a volleyball still impaled on it.
um.
hi?]
action;
He stays as he is for a few seconds after everything hits, whether it hit him, the ground, or the walls behind him, but soon he's peeking over his arm when nothing else happens. It looks like she' stopped. She's stopped and...recognized him, he's pretty sure. When she snaps up to stand straight, he's certain of it, leading him to release a breath he hadn't realized he's been holding onto.
It's almost comical, in a way, when the mess of things she's got up in the air is hidden behind her - or moved in an attempt to hide it, at least. In another situation, it would be funny, but in this one he's too concerned to really focus on it.]
Finally. I thought you were going to throw the basketball net at me next. [It's not really a joke, because this was an honest worry, but it comes out kind of sounding like one.
Waving a little, Wash then takes a couple of tentative steps forward, watching her carefully for a few moments. She does seem to have snapped out of it, at least for the time being, but he's still ready to move quickly just in case.]
You, uh. You have a little something right there. [Nodding to the volleyball on her spear, he almost sort of manages a bit of a smile.] ...Are you okay, though? I mean, obviously not really, because I don't think any of this [an absent gesture to the rest of the gym] is the work of anyone who's doing so well, but... You're not hurt, or anything?
action;
and oops -- as soon as she's aware of it, she flicks her spear and sends the volleyball flying free across the room, to land in a pile of dust or debris or whatever, and gets back to looking friendly again.
And... Is she okay? He's... Concerned?
It's not a question she gets often. Maybe by a Little Sister if she's had to defend them, but not from another grown-up.
And notfrom one with armour.She stares at him, head tilted. It's one part still surprised at the question, but another is actually thinking of the answer. She's - she's unharmed. Just angry. So, she finally nods. And then, she takes a step forward, towards him, and her (spearless) hand rises partway, but she stops before getting any closer. He's armoured, yes, but what if that armour wasn't as good as it looked? He was unharmed, yes? He seemed to be moving okay, but she's still a little concerned with how close she came to fighting him. Her head's tilted again as she wonders if she should ask about him, too?]
action;
Oh, good-- [He starts, but stops as she steps forward a little and raises her hand. Blinking, he just watches her for a few moments, now a touch confused himself, but with the way her head is tilted, he can't help but wonder if she's asking him a question in return. Perhaps the same one he'd just asked of her? With that realization (or guess), he snaps up and stands a little straighter.]
I'm okay too, don't worry. Just a little... Surprised is a word for it, I guess. I didn't exactly expect to see you smashing everything in sight, much less to start throwing stuff at me. [...Shit, no, he shouldn't have worded it like that, he doesn't want to make her feel bad (or worse?) about it!] I mean-- Uh. You just startled me is all, but I'm fine. Not hurt or anything. And now I'm just glad that you're not hurt, too.
[Also that she's calm, but you know. That seems like something better left unsaid.]
action;
But - he's glad she's not hurt? And was concerned? Her friend in armour was so nice!
Anyway - it's a relief that's he's fine too, and her shoulders sag with it. Phew. She was still a good girl!
Even if there was a lapse for a second-There's a moment where her hands almost clasp together - the just kind of hover beside each other before her right hand settles on her left forearm. She's like that for a second, feeling a little guilty, but then--! She realizes there's something more important than feelings!
She turns and she points insistently at the wall that she had been smashing things into. Look! The walls were plain, not reinforced at all - but there was barely a mark on them!
She looks over at Washington for his input. Isn't this strange? Isn't this angering?! They were trapped!]
action;
What?
[He can't help but ask, even if at this point he knows she can't speak. Brow furrowing, his gaze follows to where she's pointing, and just stares at it for a few moments. ...What was she pointing at? All he sees is a mess...]
I don't-- [That's when he realizes. Blinking, he stares at the wall. The totally unharmed wall. With everything she'd been tossing at it, and the weight of some of it, there should be some damage, but it looks perfectly intact.]
...What the hell? [Casting a quick glance at her, Wash steps forward, moving toward the wall to inspect it more closely, because there has to be something! Except the closer he gets, the more normal it seems to appear. And when he steps over some of the debris to put a hand against it, it really doesn't feel reinforced enough to not have taken some amount of damage.] Okay, this whole thing is officially getting even weirder. You definitely should have punched a hole in this with everything you were throwing against it.
