[At first, it's just a video of a blank wall, trembling a little - but then whoever's holding the device raises it up to their face: It's Chell. Well, it looks like her, but that expression is very not-Chell.
Her eyes are wide and she looks scared and confused and more importantly, she's talking. Loudly. A lot.]
I'M NOT DEAD?! But I'm not me either?!
MIRRORS ARE YOU OKAY DID YOU MAKE IT OVER HERE TOO?! REPORT! How are you doing did the roots get you?? Have you heard from anyone else? Are you all stuck in your Reals too because I think maybe I am and she's noaaaAERK --- fshfu-
[A funny look crosses her face, and the device falls from her hands. There's a few seconds of it just recording the floor, but in the background, Chell whines. She stumbles against a wall, by the sound of it, but she goes quiet. A moment passes, and the device is picked up again: This time, Chell's expression is more controlled, more tired, more annoyed.]
Don't touch the plants.
[She says firmly, nearly through her teeth. Then she ends the video.]

[ This isn't even really a video call; it's more a reaction that gets video transmitted. Daniel actually has no idea what Mell looks like, so that's a non-starter. And he doesn't immediately connect 'chattering voice' with 'chattering writing', because he's slightly distracted by a) FIGHTING ROOTS EVERYWHERE?! and b) everybody going crazy over the network. ]

You can also see her face quite clearly as she stares wide-eyed at the response, squints, tilts her head, and then snaps her fingers and grins. That panic seems to be gone entirely!]
Hey! You're that guy I saw changin--
[Her head twitches - a look crosses her face, and it's not really disgusted but it's the kind of look one gets when they're, say, suddenly picturing someone naked they didn't actually want to see naked. Thanks for that. She glances up, sort of frowning, before she shakes her head quickly, and that wide-eyed look is back. Mell rolls Chell's eyes.]
Oh, like you wouldn't! I know how long it was since you--
[RIGHT TALKING TO SOMEONE don't be rude Mell focus on one conversation at a time.]
HEY Daniel Mayfair or something right? Is your Mirror with you yet? How's it going?

[ He doesn't sound displeased to see her, but he definitely sounds confused. What in the name of frick is going on today?
For Mell's sake or possibly his own, Daniel is going to politely pretend that she's not a) half-naked or b) talking to herself like a crazy person. ]
Barker, actually -- I -- I thought you couldn't enter our mansion?
[ yes because that's the most pressing issue today way to prioritise daniel ]

[She points at herself with her thumbs here, for some reason.]

[ He kind of gets the mirror thing, but at the same time kind of really doesn't. ]

Um-- okay! Okay like-- Normally I'm on one side of the glass and Chell is on the the other because we're like-- opposites? Sort of?? And like for one of us to go to the other side, the other has to like -- switch places --- CHELL COME ON I'M TELLING HIM YOU DON'T EVEN GET ALL OF IT!
[At least she turns away for that outburst. Ahem.]

[Whoops! She sways and her eyes shut for a second, and then suddenly that wide-eyed and slightly confused look turns very serious and kind of angry looking.]

[ Opposites? Perhaps two selves separated? Now joined? Daniel takes an unconscious step away from the overflowing craziness on the screen. ]

"Mell" is from the Mirrorside. I was cut by the plant- [She turns the cut on her arm to the camera] -and now she's in my head instead of behind the mirror.
[If Chell's words are short and if some of them have to go through her teeth and if it looks like there's a lot of effort in her face, that's because she had to say all that over a background of RUDE Chell RUDE god you are so RUDE I was explaining it just fine I've even talked to him before WELL written I mean there's only so much you can do with the mirror in the way but anyway he already knows me so you should have just let me do the talking because he'd believe me we've talked before and he kind of heard about the root thing already because I am capable of talking to people more than once and gosh could you use less words to explain this you're going to leave something out let ME do it GOSHHHHHH!!!]

I mean think about that! Not existing is terrible!! How would you feel if-- .... well you wouldn't I mean, because you wouldn't be existing to know about it... WELL come on it'd be like saving a guys' life right isn't that a good thing??

[ Yes, Daniel. Because that would be the only mad thing to happen to you in Wonderland. It's occurring to him even as he speaks. How can he really say that something's impossible, when just to get here he had to teleport through space and time?

...Daniel looks extremely uncomfortable as Mell's face hardens into Chell's. Not specifically because it's Chell, but because all this switching around makes it feel a lot like he's talking to a crazy person. ]
