--6 [Action] Need A New Game Need A New Something More
[On the stairs between the third and second floor, there's a... Thing that might look familiar to some people. We're not talking about the slinky flip-flopping down the steps, or the pretty, if old-fashioned looking doll seated at the top of the stairs, but the lanky, armoured... person sitting with them.
Granted, they're probably more familiar with her screaming and growling and making a lot of noise down by the docks, and not... However she's like now. Her light doesn't seem as bright and as red, but that could be from her being in the nice, well-lit decor of the mansion instead of the beach at night. Her armour isn't even as rusty - though it's obviously worn in places and tarnished in others - with the cleanest spot being a little round medal with #3 engraved on it, recently bolted to her shoulder-guard. The needle is even absent! (But not the rest of the apparatus, or the other, smaller spear on the other wrist.)
And that's... all she's doing, watching her slinky go down the steps and then jumping down after it, picking it up, bounding back to the top of the stairs, and sending it down all again. The doll doesn't seem to be more than a spectator to this game.
Pretty harmless so far, even with the armour and reputation. Er- all the same, you might want to postpone whatever business you have on the second or third floor, if you don't want to get too close to her.]

All he'd been doing was heading down to the kitchen to find something to eat, but now he finds himself pausing on the flight of stairs, watching the scene before him unfold for a moment. Huh. Last time he'd seen her, she hadn't been too happy about being inside, but here she is now, seeming content with it, just...playing with a slinky. Well, nothing to complain about, right? In fact, it's kind of a nice change in pace, and it brings a smile to his face.]
Hey. [Greeting her with a small wave, he steps forward, just to the top of the stairs. Dressed in his armour as always, he peers down at her. ...And realizes he still doesn't know her name. Whoops.] I haven't seen you around in a while. How are you?

... She's still sore about not being able to just swim out of Wonderland, though.
But why dwell on that when there's a slinky?! And now, an armourfriend!]
[She looks up when she hears him speak and waves back with a pleased sounding, er, squeaky noise, before grabbing her slinky and bolting back to the top of the stairs. She pulls her device out and starts texting:]
Iam good LoOK I HAvE TOYS!
[Well, there's less typos, at least.]

Seeing her pulling out her device and typing away on it, Wash grabs for his in preparation and, when he hears it notify him of a text, he glances down to read it.]
I can see that. [Laughing just a little again, he looks back up at her, then proceeds to admire the slinky. After a second of judgement, he nods, approving.] It looks like you're having a lot of fun, too. Did you get those for Christmas?
[It's either that or the closets, he figures. Whatever the case, he's just glad she's enjoying herself.]

It's cute. Definitely a good gift. [Okay, maybe that's all he really knows to say about a doll, but still! He's glad she's happy with them, and he's happy to appraise the toys for her even if he hasn't done something like that in...more years than he can be bothered to count right now. But! Thinking about what more to say about the doll makes him remember something.]
You know... If you don't mind that it's missing a head, I have another doll I could give you?
[A headless doll was, after all, the gift the Duchess left him on Christmas. And really, it just creeped him out, so hey it's something he'd be happy to get rid of if she wants it. If not, toss it in the trash, no big loss.]

Her faceplate turns from giving the doll another proud look to staring at Wash when he mentions another doll, and giving that doll to her! Wow, another doll?! There's no hesitation before she nods enthusiastically - who would say no to a doll that's only missing a head?!]
no subject
[Her enthusiastic response is admittedly not what he'd expected, and it takes him by surprise at first. Most people wouldn't want a doll that's missing a head, but... Hey, he won't judge, he'd rather give it to someone who wants it then throw it away.]
Okay, sure! [All nods and smiles now, he hooks a thumb over his shoulder.] I can go get it for you right now, if you want. Or you could come with me. Or it can wait until later. Whatever works.
[It's not exactly like he's got much to do right now, anyway, so fetching the doll for her isn't something he minds doing. Actually, it's kind of something he wants to do now. It's nice to see her happy and playing, considering how happy is...sort of difficult to come by in Wonderland most times.]
oh my god i'm so sorry
If he starts walking away, she'll follow, slinky in one hand and doll cradled carefully in the other. (She would never abandon her toys)]
it's okay! don't worry about it <3
Now it is, then.
[Turning, he starts to make his way back the way he's come from, up the stairs, but not without glancing back to check if she's following. When he sees that she is, he just smiles to himself and keeps climbing. Honestly, somewhere in his mind he's come to think of her as something of a younger sister - someone to look out for, to make sure she's doing okay, and spend some time with her. The fact that she's following him around with toys in her arms only helps.
Reaching the third floor, Wash starts his way down the hall towards his room and he casts another glance back over his shoulder at her.]
You need any help? [Nodding to the toys, he's really mostly just asking because it's weird to walk in silence with someone, but he knows she can't exactly respond to much more than yes or no questions without typing.]

But this man his and nice armour had been consistently friendly so far! He wore armour and didn't ignore her or try to steal her things or fight her! He was even helping her get more toys! It had been a long time since she had a friend outside of her Sisters!
When she's not thinking about this, her thoughts are on what she'd do for this doll's new head. Nails for eyes? Nah, that would catch on things. A baseball, or something sturdier? Hair, or just a hat? It would also depend on what she could find in the closets to work with. Hm...]
[She shakes her head when he asks if she needs help. She's just carrying a slinky and a doll, and they don't weigh nearly as much as a small child or two! Or a struggling grown-up! Or large broken parts of - well you get the idea! And anyway, it's her stuff! So no she's fine thank you.]

It doesn't take long before he reaches room 619, where he steps up and opens the door, revealing a very clean, almost to the point of looking sterile room. It had taken to mimicking the bunks he'd lived in, on the ship back home, with smooth metal walls, and metal pretty well everything else, too. Except, you know, the bed, and also a small, round rug on the floor beside the bed, which happens to be a shade of purple. ...It was the only colour the closet would give him, okay? Eventually he just gave in and accepted it.
With a slight sheepish smile tossed back to her, he leaves the door open so she's free to keep standing just outside, or come in if she likes, while he moves inside to find the doll. The white sheets of the bed are covered in shed orange fur, and the source is currently curled up in the middle of the bed, eyes following Wash as he heads for the desk - Apricot the kitten. The Christmas present that didn't freak Wash right out.]
Found it. [Still talking mostly for his own sake, he scoops the doll up off the desk where he'd had it set and turns back to her, holding it up so she can see.]

The rug is interesting because it's a colour - but it's not as interesting as the little orange thing on the bed. She stares at that one, really intently. She's seen things that look almost like it. Though the ones she saw were never moving.
Fortunately her attention snaps back to friend in armour when he speaks.
She straightens immediately and rushes over to him to study the doll in his hand, turning her head this way and that, thinking about what she can do for the head.
Then she adjusts her toys to free up one hand and takes the headless doll without waiting for invitation - he was giving it to her anyway, it didn't matter. She keeps silently studying the doll and turning it around, seeming to forget about the rest of the world. Hm... Maybe if she could find a baseball, those always made good heads...]

Looks good?
[Just to make sure she's satisfied with it, he has to ask. If anything, she can consider it a late Christmas gift from him, if she even knows what Christmas is. Maybe call it an early (or late???) birthday present. Or just a gift. Who cares! He finally unloaded the creepy doll on someone who actually wants it and will make use of it. It's good for everyone!]
