[Slight backdate. The screen on the communication device was a dark, reddish color. Minato had ended up converting a room near his own into a darkroom. The sixth room on the Third Floor was free, and he went ahead and made use of it. He hoped no one would mind. Besides, the Gallery was also next to it in the fourth room, and if anyone did protest, he could always change another room close by.

Inside said darkroom, Minato wasn't alone. While Minato used film clips to hang up a few photographs to have them dry off, Souji used his bamboo photo tongs to place more photo paper into the chemicals in the development trays he had prepped per Minato's instructions.]

Why scenery?

[Souji looked up at the pictures hung on the line, and at some of the ones that were off to the dry side of the room. Minato smiled a little as he answered.]

... I had a request to take color photographs of outside since the other side of the mirrors is black and white. Is that spoiling them?

[Especially after everything that's happened? Souji shook his head, returning the smile, and continued to monitor the photos and their development.]

I heard the ones on the other side of the glass are all bad news. [ so what's up with taking photos for them? not that he's sincerely judging, just tossing out a rumor. he's more interested in the darkroom. ]

[Souji gets to the device first to respond.] Not all of them are. But it is a good idea to be careful around them until you know them better.

[As for the setup...]

I'd like to take credit for it, but I don't know much about this stuff.

[Minato finished clipping up the last picture from the first set. He nodded, agreeing about the Mirrors that they weren't all bad. Not all of them.]

It helps that the rooms change to how we imagine them. You can come use it at some point too, if you want.

How can you tell the difference? [ he asks to the first response. he's having a hard time grasping that there are people in the mirrors at all. but either one of them is welcome to answer his questions. ]

Thanks. I'll have to take you up on that. Where's the room at?

[Souji will stick to the Mirror questions for the moment. Of the three of them, it seems like he's got the most experience with them.]

You have to talk to them. [Which itself can be risky.] Some of them will pretend to be the real thing to trick us, but not all of them do that.

The real thing. You mean one of us, don't you?

Don't they all want over here? [ he doesn't see how that could make them good, if they want to replace what's here, even unintentionally. ]

It's on the Third Floor, Room 6. The door's unlocked all the time.

[Minato slid that answer in when he could, mostly leaving the questions about Wonderland up to Souji.]

Some, I guess. It's hard to tell. Souji would know more.

I...don't think so. About them wanting to come over here, I mean. They might like the stuff on this side of the glass better, in some ways, but I don't think they want to be us or anything.

Thanks for that. I won't leave a mess. You won't even know I came by. [ he's really only going off of what he's been told from the people he knows from home, not actual firsthand knowledge. ]

That's good. There's enough to worry about without having to factor in possible identity theft.

Only when they try to pass as the real thing. But most of them aren't too hard to spot.

Maybe for someone that's been here for more than a month. What sets them apart? [ he should probably be less willing to judge them when he's not better than they are. he's taken lives. his thoughts became action. ]

I guess you'd have to know the real version to tell them apart.

I figured that one out. I thought there would be something else, like a birthmark or a bar code. Maybe a defect. [ he shrugs. ] It's nice, what you're doing for them. The grounds are breath-taking.

[Souji considers the items listed.]

Mirrors don't necessarily have marks because they're Mirrors, but there is one thing: if the original had a scar or birthmark, it'll be on the opposite side of the Mirror's body.

They're literally like reflections. [ he wonders if that means his mirror is turning into a kanima too, complete with half a body of green scales on the opposite side of his rib cage. ] How do you know so much about them?

I've been here awhile, so I've gotten kind of used to them. [No one ever really gets used to the Mirrors.]

It seems like more than that. Like, I don't know, maybe you care about them. What with the photos.

[He can't deny that, so he nods.] Some of them. This one...he's a good guy. [Underneath it all.]

[Minato had been away from the communication device a bit to let Souji answer questions about the Mirrors. He did make a comment though about them after giving Souji a small smile.]

It's not any trouble either, and it isn't hurting anyone to share the photos, so it's okay, I think.

Even prisoners get some rewards for good behavior, so I can't fault you there.

[Souji's smile at that is a little sad.]

I guess that's a good way to put it.

[Minato nodded.]

I might still do it for them too, depending.
