➶ five (video) (before the event)
[ As with her last broadcast, the Warden looks particularly sad today, appearing over the network with a brightness to her eyes and the expression of someone with a heavy weight on her shoulders. ]
... If you knew Leliana, spymaster for the Inquisition... she's seemingly vanished from here. I've heard that they've gone back home if their quarters are emptied, and hers are bare.
[ Now that she's gone, Robyn may never see her again. She's stricken with the grief of that thought, momentarily, but she remembers herself and presses on. ]
Leliana was my closest friend. When we first met, she joined our cause without much incentive. We had no forces or reputation. [ Not a good reputation, anyway. ] She pledged her skills because she believed. I always felt inspired by her faith. I still do.
[ Leliana, who had been like a sister. Leliana, who had comforted her through the worst of things. ]
She was - is - an incredible woman. [ She was one of the two who remembered Robyn at all. ] I hope we're all able to see her again.
[ "The one who repents, who has faith, unshaken by the darkness of the world, she shall know true peace." If only. ]
It can be hard to manage hope. [ She speaks quietly, before ending the broadcast. ]

Figures the spymaster would be the one to steal away without a trace.
[The levity behind the words is muted when he activates the video function to respond. Farewells are always more difficult when it's someone close; Anders is intimately acquainted with the free fall of doubt and worry that comes with not knowing if or when you'll see a loved one again.
It's not a pain he'd wish on anyone.]
I'm sorry about Leliana. She added class to the place. But someone has to mind the fort at home and she seems like the type who's up to the challenge.
[Keep that hope burning, Warden. Some goodbyes aren't forever.]

[ Since it happened. Robyn doesn't fault him for the levity, though, and smiles faintly for the other Warden. ]
She can handle anything. [ She stresses. ] The Inquisition could ask for no finer person in their ranks.
[ Particularly not in a position of power, like hers. Robyn goes quiet, thinking it over, admitting little sighs every so often. ]
Thank you, Anders. It isn't only my loss, though, which is why I thought I should tell everyone.

[Leliana and Karl's situations aren't the same, but after he'd been taken from the Circle Anders would have found some comfort in knowing that Karl still had a life and a purpose ahead of him even if circumstances meant Anders couldn't be a part of it. Leliana's free of Wonderland ideally back home where she belongs, that's something.]
From what I've heard, it sounds as though the Inquisition needs all the help it can get. We'll muddle on without her.
[Anders smile back with an optimism he can tell Robyn is fighting for, having to find balance between staying strong and accepting a friend's abrupt departure.]
Warden to Warden, if you need anything, just give the word. I don't look nearly as good in a leather jerkin, but I can do my best to fill in for Leliana while she's away inquisiting.

[ And will be. For those still in Thedas at the time. ]
Of course. [ The joke makes her smile, despite the pining for her missing friend. ] But, it isn't only the jerkin. There's the mastery of ravens, the singing-- you have a lot to learn to be the next Leliana, you know.
[ Robyn laughs lightly, shaking her head. ]
... I wouldn't want that, though. I'd prefer to keep Anders around instead, if that's all right with you.

[It's too bad most of these timelines seem to involve Anders rioting against Kirkwall and dying for it, but... well, no world is perfect, right? But he arches his brows at the news he's supposed to be a literal Disney princess. Just what is Leliana into?]
There's singing? That might be a problem unless you don't mind a little off-key warbling. Best to leave that to her. I can be of service as the best Warden mage Wonderland has to offer.
[That's easy seeing as how he's the only one he knows of.]

[ What will Leliana do once the breach has been sealed? Brennan had said that she was to become Divine, which is fitting of the Chantry girl who had begun her journey after a vision from the Maker. ]
The best mage, then. [ She smiles earnestly, despite her continued pining for her missing friend. ] Leliana will happily sing for us. There may be other musically-gifted Wardens that we've both yet to meet.
[ Robyn is partial to singing, herself, though she'd much rather hear the former bard perform. ]

Then it's settled.
[He'll humbly accept the title of best Warden mage. Thank you to the Academy and his loyal fans for this honor...]
You never know, they could be washing ashore any week now.

[ Such as meeting her closest friend from ten years in the future. ]
The next time darkspawn rise up from Wonderland's grounds, we'll be more ready to face them, assuming we do get more Wardens.

[But hopefully they'll never get another darkspawn invasion like that again.]
We'll have to make do with what we have in the meantime.

[ Why turn their noses up at a place that is more good than it is bad more often than not? ]
