[Mettaton can be seen lounging on his king-sized bed when the video turns on, looking pleasant but also a tiny bit irritated.]

Hello there, Wonderland! It's been awhile since I've posted to the Network and for that I apologize! I know you all must have missed seeing my beautiful face. ♥

But! Moving on, I have two things to say:

1! To all of my friends who VICIOUSLY attacked me last event (you know who you are): thanks! I enjoyed it! Really!

[The sarcasm in his voice is practically dripping.]

2, in better news, I will be having a performance this upcoming Halloween night to help clear the air after that whole Neverland business! I'll be putting up flyers for it soon as I prepare. Naturally it will have candy and tricks and treats and all of the sorts of goodies you’d expect out of a Halloween performance and party!

Feel free to arrive in costume and dance the night away on the spookiest night of the year! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! I want to make sure you all know exactly what is up.

[With a flirtatious wink, Mettaton cuts off the feed.]

[A boquet of bluebells, ferns, peonies, geraniums and purple hyaciths are presented to the camera. After a few moments, Dorian pulls the flowers away to reveal he's wearing a magenta waistcoat with a silver ascot today.]

I am terribly sorry for all the trouble I caused you. Clearly, I was not in my right state of mind when I prodded you while you were trapped. In fact, I'm actually a little embarassed by my conduct during the event. I honestly have no odea why I would be acting so vicious...

...Do you want me to deliver this boquet to you at the party? I'm planning to attend.

[Mettaton's eyes sparkle in delight at the bouquet, letting out a surprised and pleased gasp.]

That's beautiful, Dorian! Yes, give this to me during the party. I'm glad someone here in Wonderland knows how to properly apologize for their actions. I'm not truly upset, really. I know you weren't in your right mind at the time.

[Dorian smiles back, pleased to know he has pleased the robot.]

Perhaps I ought to send you flowers more often? [A playful jest.]

Yes, but not being in my right mind makes it worse, I think.

Oh, please do! A star can never have too many lovely bouquets from lovely people.

[He gives Dorian a playful wink.]

I must say though, you seemed quite capable with a spear. What an interesting skill for a proper gentleman to have!

[His teasing tone continues, though there is a bit of an edge. He's a little annoyed about the spear, but that's it.]

[Dorian playfully chuckles.] Maybe I'll bring roses to throw to you at the end of your performance?

[Eh, the spear didn't seem to do much, but Dorian's not sure if his robot friend can feel pain so...]

Thank you, but I wouldn't have had that skill in any other circumstance. I must have been under the delusion of being in Neverland for a long time...

[Dorian shakes his head and sighs. Curse these weird memory altering events.]

Still, I suppose the trap setting skills could be useful if Wonderland strands us in the wilderness again. That's the only good thing that came out of this ordeal.

Oh please do! I need more beauty in my life, though your presence certainly helps with that.

[He chuckles a bit, but then looks at Dorian curiously.]

That is true. Why would you think you'd been there for so long? Wasn't it based on how old you actually are?

I agree! And thank you for that wonderful compliment!

[Dorian smirks. Yes, please keep stroking his ego. It loves being petted.]

I think the more important question is why was I there in the first place? If you were yourself during the event, then that must mean not all of us were affected.

Well, that means you heard Peter Pan's flute! Only those who had felt abandoned and alone could hear it and become a Lost One. I have never really felt that way, at least not enough to be deeply affected so as to fall to the magic.

[He lets his words hang in the air; Dorian is free to explain why he might have fit that bill, but Mettaton is not going to push. This seems like a potentially sensitive subject.]

[Dorian falls silent for a moment. He's trying to think, wondering WHAT, exactly, would make him feel so lonely. Was this a recent feeling, or was it buried somewhere deep in his heart where he was sure nobody would find it?]

[Then he thought about those hallucinations he had as a Lost One. Horrid hallucinations of people he now recognized from his past... Could that be...?]

[No, he will not try to explain it to Mettaton if he can't explain it to himself.]

... You are fortunate to have never felt alone, Mettaton.

Of course I have never felt alone! I'm a star! So long as people adore me, I am always in good company.

[...way to be completely sensitive to your friend, Mettaton! And what a way to blatantly lie, too. But, the truth is, he has one person (or, rather, Monster) to thank for this: Napstablook.

Not like he's ever told them, of course.]

[That actually gets a knowing chuckle out of Dorian. He KNOWS you can't live off popularity alone. He's been popular enough to know what popularity's like.]

Come now, the only kind of people who are born beloved are the children of nobility.

Surely, you must have had some wonderful people supporting you in those early days, didn't you?

[He's smiling ever so sweetly. He's not asking who Mettaton's close friends are, but if the robot has feelings, then surely it must also have companions to feel so loved.]

[Mettaton grins, but there is a bit of a hard glint in his eyes as he responds.]

Oh, I can assure you that I may not have been beloved from the moment I was created, but within a few weeks of existence, I had the entire Underground at my feet.

[The Monsters needed something, someone, to distract them from their woes. Mettaton wanted to be beloved by all and perform on stage. It was a match made in heaven; even if he had to make everything from the ground up.]

As for people supporting me, I suppose there was Alphys, making sure my body was working correctly. But for the most part I made and did everything myself until other Monsters started volunteering their time and I started hiring employees.

[Every costume, every set, every show idea; he made it all with his own two hands. Much like his stage here in Wonderland. While he did borrow a lot of his ideas from human culture, in the end he was the only one in the beginning with the drive and ambition to make it all a reality. Then he built his little empire in Hotland.

He had been alone, for all intents and purposes. He had stopped caring as much for Alphys, and had already abandoned Napstablook. He hadn't had time to feel lonely then.]

[Dorian smiles back, listening to Mettaton's tale...]

[The similarities to his own life were mildly frightening. No, Society was not trapped underground with no hope, and there was no empire or brand involved, but there was a person who helped Dorian in the beginning and slowly faded into the background the more he dabbled in new hedonism.]

[There was a moment, a single moment of fright, when he imagined poor Alphys dying at the hands of her own creation. Then he reminded himself that he had seen the lizard scientist on the feed more than once, and he must have caught a glimpse of her as a Lost One. She was alive and well, which was more than what could be said about Dorian's old friend. Then again, Wonderland pulled people from different points in time...]

[The only bit of worry he showed was the slight twinge of worry in his eyes. He had to keep up appearances, for the most part.]

That's a rather impressive feat, taking the Underground by storm. Those monsters must have been desperate for some quality entertainment...

[There was still one question he had to ask.]

I bet Alphys must have been very proud. Did you make friends with some of the people working behind the scenes?

[He wasn't sure if he should ask if this robot can truly feel emotions at all.]

[Mettaton chuckles lightly. How naive.]

Friends? When you're the boss of an entire hotel of employees and running all of your shows, you can't really be their friend! It isn't professional. Though there were some employees I was fond of.

[And some he wasn't so fond of.]

... I see.

[Dorian actually feels sorry for the robot. It seems Alphys couldn't program the robot to feel loneliness. It may be possible Mettaton is unable to feel truly loved, in fact. Such were the limits of technology, it seems.]

[On the other hand, the robot made an efficient captain of industry.]

Well, now that you're in Wonderland, and thus have more free time on your hands, perhaps you could take the time to truly enjoy your company.

Unless, of course, you already do.

["Enjoy your company", huh? He supposes he does enjoy the company he keeps here. He certainly has made plenty of friends in Wonderland, though not many of them could truly say they know a lot about him. But that's the nature of being a star! You have to be a bit distant to maintain your image.]

Oh, I do! Good people and good conversation has been the nicest thing about Wonderland. I'm sure you also enjoy your company.

[He says that last part with the smug air that knows Dorian likes talking to him too.]

[Thank god, the robot is still friendly.]

Of course!

... Well, mostly. I must admit, there is one person I don't particularly like.

[Mettaton gives Dorian a wry smile.]

Made an enemy already, hm? That's one way to liven things up here in Wonderland!

Really?

Tell me, now, how are the antics of a drunken maniac lively?

[Wait, he forgot about the giant squid.]

No, I take it back. The maniac is just as bad when he's sober.

I'd say they can be plenty lively so long as you don't get hurt.

[Mettaton has had some of his best parties with humans who lose their shit while drunk. Though he has no idea who Dorian is talking about.]

... You do have a point.

[He nods, remembering a few interesting parties back home that ended with at least one well-off gentleman drunkenly embarrassing themselves.]

However, it is another thing entirely when you're on the receiving end of their antics. The man I was talking about was the sort who thinks chasing people around with a giant, floating squid is hilarious.

[On the other hand, it wasn't that bad in the end. Still not funny, though.]

[Recognition dawns on Mettaton's features when Dorian mentions floating the giant squid.]

Oh! Oh, that boy! That one crazy boy from Hogwarts, oh what was his name...

[He never met him, but he certainly had had a reputation. He wonders how much of that fictional one reflected reality.]

... Rick?

[Dorian's met him in and out of reality, and he was horrible in both places.]

Yes, that was it! I think his name was Rick! Quite the excitable man, wasn't he? I suppose you two disagree?

[Mettaton has no opinion of him whatsoever, but he's certainly heard of him and seen him around.]
