[The plus side is that Connor doesn't take long to figure out how to use the communicator. The bad thing is that it's clear that he's completely thrown through a loop here. Using his hand to broadcast this, much like when he was figuring out the Jericho clues, he seems to be outside the gates, in front of a large fountain.]

Judging by the look of this place, I think it's safe to say that I'm not in Detroit anymore.

[Unless Detroit parks suddenly got this colorful and a giant mansion appeared.]

I can't seem to locate where I am though. It appears that where ever this is, it's not in my database.

There seems to be some sort of communication here that I've tapped into at the very least, so if there's anyone out there seeing this, any answers would be appreciated.

My name is Connor. I'm the android sent by-- [Wait...] Uh... I work for the DPD. I have no idea how I was brought here to begin with, but something is obviously going on here.

If anyone has seen a hard-boiled eccentric police lieutenant with medium length grey hair that drinks way too much named Hank, let me know. Or maybe even a Saint Bernard dog named Sumo. [Since the last thing he remembers is being at Hank's house.] Thanks.

[With that, he's off to figure out just what's going on. Hopefully he'll find answers somehow soon. Anyone is free to find him roaming around the outside or even the mansion as he makes his way in.

OOC: As I've said in his OOC intro, he's going to be taken from a good ending where he hasn't died and he has become a Deviant. If you're interested in how he'll be played, go ahead and check his application. Otherwise, enjoy some mood music if you so choose.]

[Sans is in his room, slouching in a desk chair and rotating it back and forth with one foot. He's got an open bag of candy corn in front of him and is painstakingly sticking them onto the ends of his fingers. Like claws. Candy corn claws. His cat, 4, is in the background of the video, apparently attempting to eviscerate a very tiny pumpkin.]

[There's also a song playing quietly nearby.]

candy corn is super underrated. we'd get bags and bags and bags of it coming down the rivers back home. starting right in november, just this candy corn flood. i guess it's a really contentious candy for humans, but i dunno. they're pretty much just sugar. what's not to like?

[He proceeds to eat one of them off a finger, then attaches another one.]

anyway, it's that time of year again. any day now, wonderland's gonna break out the probably-cursed candy and the probably-enchanted decorations. i think it was last year, i ended up with an army of tiny, ambulating plastic skeletons. actually, that reminds me--so i get that skeletons are like...part of the theme, but if anyone puts up any skeleton decorations, can you just like...make sure they got clothes on? it's, uh. awkward otherwise.

[He eats another candy corn. In the background, 4 does a butt wiggle and launches at the pumpkin like it just insulted his mother. Sans completely ignores the horrible murder going on behind him and tries to attach another candy corn. It falls off.]

so i was thinking--there's gonna be an event for halloween, cause there always is, but do we wanna get up to something beforehand? i think max was suggesting a movie night or something? there's been some bad vibes lately about, yanno, us non-human folks, so...i dunno, some kind of party might be good. halloween's a good time for humans and non-humans to come together, chill, eat candy and remember that we're not all out to get each other or anything.

[It only seemed to be one guy who had issues with supernatural people, but the idea of a human/non-human divide in Wonderland is...extremely unsettling. This place has enough problems.]

[He grins, inspecting his shitty candy corn manicure.]

anyway, let's at least just try to have some fun before whatever wonderland throws at us, yeah?

[Note: As always, my posts are threadjackable in all directions on my end, guys!]

All right, so I'm not sure how many of you have heard the rumblings of my research, but I think it's time I put the whole thing out for everyone to pitch in on. And if you're just going to prattle on about how it's impossible to find out real answers you can kindly sod off because I don't have time for that kind of negativity, thanks.

Memories. They're sort of important, don't you think? And this place keeps stealing them from us in some form or another, bit by bit. Until, what, there's nothing of who we were left? Is that the point? What's the endgame? We don't really know, do we?

What I want to do is first: figure out if there's some sort of pattern or rhyme or reason to the memories being stolen. Which I realize will be a bit tricky since we can't remember the things we've forgotten, but if we can find enough work-around explanations for the words and phrases we've lost, maybe we can come up with a list, and connect those to the events that happened during the loss of them, and look for a pattern.

[And while that idea of patterns has been there all along, he'll admit it's been a bit more reinforced since his chat with Dan about comparisons and parallels of this Wonderland to the original story.]

The other thing I'm looking into, is trying to see if we can retrieve the lost memories. Which is where I need volunteers and it'll be a bit of a mess because most of you are probably going to knee-jerk hate the idea. But how sure are you that you've truly forgotten it, and that whatever it is you've forgotten isn't simply locked away where you can't reach it? What if there was a way you might be able to unlock that box and retrieve it back?

[And here comes the really controversial part that he expects to get a lot of naysayers on a roll. But he's putting it all out there anyway, because Kol hopes their aversions to the idea are outweighed by the desire to keep what's rightfully their own.]

What I'm getting at is, I want to try to compel you to remember. It may not work, for all I know it may backfire in some spectacularly Wonderland sort of way for the attempt. I don't know, and if something similar has been attempted in the past, I'd love to hear about it. But it's just an idea. Honestly, this is a genuine attempt at fixing the things Wonderland screws up, so I've nothing to hide or any ulterior motives, so I'd be fine with being hawk-watched by anyone who feels the invasion aspect of it too sketchy?

There's another idea on deck as well, but I don't want to bother with it unless it seems fully necessary. I want to start simple, with this.

On a different note, but in a similar vein, I'd like to talk to the longest-standing residents in Wonderland. I've been told the names Regina Mills and Michonne as folks to seek out for such a thing. If you ladies are around for a chat, I'd love to ask you some things. And if anyone else has been here as long as, or longer than, either of them, I'd absolutely welcome more voices to this conversation.

[Max is not normally this chatty. Over-compensating for a bad event? Sure.]

Part I: blackjack!
So I have a kinda ridiculous confession to make. Ready?

I recently turned 21.

I dunno about you but Maxine and 21 dont exactly go hand-in-hand. When do I get my grown-up card? Was there an application form I missed?

More importantly I can now legally buy alcohol, and I'm going to celebrate that with a cool glass of orange juice. ^_^

Part II: spooktoberfest
Ok so where im from October is basically the best month of the year. Perfect nature aesthetic? Check. Throw on your favorite jacket? Check check. Spookster bonanza? Hella check!

In normal words: who knows if we'll have an event around halloween? Can we do something fun around then anyway? Maybe a mildly scary movie marathon, or a costume party... heck I'd settle for plain old-fashioned decorating.

Wow I am getting old. *eyeroll*

Both Tims are gone. Jay. Cissie. Becks. Clementine's nowhere to be found, though her stuff is still here, so for the moment I'm choosing to believe she'll be back.

[Fuck does she ever hope Clem will be back. She's lost too many people.]

They're not it, of course. Despite my best efforts, I can't manage to track every single arrival and departure. But these are the ones associated with the Shattered Mirror. That leaves it at just Shaun, Maggie, Julia, and me. The news will march on no matter what. This place has too many secrets and mysteries for us to stop. As long as I am here I swear to you I will keep you informed, to the best of my ability, of the truth as I see it. I won't knowingly lie to you.

But we could use more help.

If you're interested in writing for us, contact me, or visit our office on the ninth floor. We welcome contributions, whether you want to put out something regularly or just submit a piece to our weekly zine. We'll look it over, and so long as it meets our standards, we'll print it. Please come to me with any questions.

[First addresses to the network usually fall into one of a few categories. They're cries for help, or angry screeds vowing revenge. They ask for a salve to ease their confusion. They promise violence. The doctor is none of those things. He's been careful with the network, taking the time to do his research about this world before addressing it. It's important to understand the angles before offering any vulnerabilities. vulnerable people die early. Weakness is not tolerated.

He's been here long enough to understand the games that must be played. He's got the mannerisms down well. He avoids making eye contact with even the device recording him, his voice halting and uncertain. His face has mostly healed over since the incident last month, but there's still a sickly yellow patch over his eye where an old bruise hasn't quite finished healing.]

Sounds like the next event's due to be a bad one, doesn't it? And yet... It's not just events that we need to worry about anymore. I wonder if perhaps we oughtn't be more open about the everyday issues we've been facing. About the... particular power imbalance between some of the residents.

Some good people are being harmed by the powered communities here. The aliens or the supernaturals, or whatever name they've decided to take. They've left normal people too afraid to speak up. Are we letting them use us, because we think they'll protect us when the events come?

After the last few weeks, they've made it clear that they won't do anything for us.

I'm tired of being afraid all the time. Aren't you?

When the video feed begins, you see Asgore sitting down at a desk, and occasionally reading off of a piece of paper in front of him.

"I asked, several weeks ago, what sort of movies that the people who live here in Wonderland would recommend that I view. I attended a movie viewing night in addition to taking the time to view several human movies on my own, thus bringing my total number of movies seen up to… ten movies, including three before I arrived here."

He pauses briefly, then continues. "I felt that it would be interesting for me to share my opinions on the films I viewed personally, and to ask, if you have seen these films, to…. Smash that bell... Like... comment... or subscribe?" He looks very confusingly at the script in front of him. "I, uh, asked the closets for a list of suggested things to say during a network review of movies, having never done this before, just to get the ball rolling, and I do not... know what... the bell is supposed to be."

What do you think happens to people who are dead? I don't mean people who die in this place. I don't know how many people there are in this place who are dead back home but ended up in this place somehow anyway, but I know there's at least one from personal experience. [ You know. Since she died right before getting here. Very personal experience. ] That's the kind of dead I'm talking about.

If someone like that disappears from this place, what happens? Do they go back to be dead in their own world? Or are they just permanently dead here? Do they haunt the halls like some spooky invisible ghost no one can notice?

.. I'd prefer if it wasn't the latter, actually. I've had enough of this place's antics as is.

Look, I know most of you probably don't care, but the fact that the "magical wardrobe" [yeah, those are airquotes] isn't always precise? Is kind of a problem.

Take for instance, this calculator.

[He holds up something akin to the TI-83+, for those who took any kind of math in the 90s to 00s in modern, normal America.]

If you're from my time? This? This is an inferior piece of technology. No one wants this. What they want is the TI-89. Or, even better, a brand new Casio. But I would've happily settled for the TI-84. Doesn't even need to be the plus edition. [Oh boy, he's getting fired up now. Nerd alert.] Look everyone says that Texas Instruments were just scamming everyone when the 84s came out but that's not true. They did impressive coding upgrades. I mean, all you have to do is toss a polynomial function with asymptotes in there to see the difference.

[A long pause, as if he can hear his many friends back home and their iterations of how boring he is.]

Look, all I'm saying is that sometimes it matters what kinds of things you need. Some jobs need certain tools and specifics matter. And not just with calculators either.

[The video opens to a familiar sight - it’s Liv and Papyrus! The latter looks particularly excited, but quickly regains his composure and clears his throat.]

AHEM!! GREETINGS, WONDERLAND!!! THIS IS THE GREAT PAPYRUS AND THE MAGNIFICENT LIV BRINGING YOU A VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

[ Liv actually waves a little, grinning. ]

So, we figured a while back that it might be fun to get to know everyone a little better, but meet and greets are boring and no one likes having to do ice breakers. Hopefully, though, our idea bridges the gap and gets people to mingle in a way that doesn’t feel awkward. Anyway, food festival! Everyone…mostly, has to eat, right?

[Papyrus nods in approval!]

EXACTLY!! ADDITIONALLY, EVERYONE HERE COMES FROM ALL SORTS OF DIFFERENT WORLDS!! AND DIFFERENT WORLDS MEANS DIFFERENT TYPES OF CUISINE!!! SO, WE INVITE YOU TO COOK SOMETHING THAT IS UNIQUE TO YOUR WORLD FOR THIS FESTIVAL!! ALLOW EVERYONE TO HAVE A TASTE OF WHAT YOUR HOME WORLD COOKING IS LIKE!!!

And if you can’t cook, don’t worry! Just use the closet to present the closest approximation of whatever it is that represents home to you. Since an event just ended, we’re gonna aim for this Saturday, out in the gardens. So you can eat, roam around, meet new people if you want. One disclaimer: if you eat brains or drink blood, try to make sure people are aware of...what might be in your food.

[ They don’t need anyone hurling. ]

ACTUALLY, I’M PRETTY SURE THAT SOME HUMANS HAVE SOME ALLERGIES TOO, LIKE NUTS AND THE LIKE??? I’D MAKE SURE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT THAT TOO. IN FACT, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY JUST MAKE A LITTLE CARD DETAILING WHATEVER IT IS YOU COOKED, LIKE THIS!!!

[Papyrus pulls out from behind him a little cardstock sign, which features a crude drawing of spaghetti along with the words, ‘PAPYRUS’S FAMOUS SPAGHETTI’ written on it. Hey, it gets the point across!]

Good idea! Maybe write on there if there are nuts, too. That’s the most common allergy, right?

[ The former doctor should know! ]

I think - pending no events but hopefully there isn’t one since we just turned into birds a few days ago - this should be good to go. So, we’ll be out there, all the plates, silverware, napkins and beverages will be provided which means all you have to do is bring a dish. We’ll provide cards and markers to write the name of your dish, the name of the place you want, and your name.

[ She looks at Papyrus. ]

What time should we start?

[Papyrus looks completive, scratching his chin.]

I BELIEVE THE BEST TIME TO START IS AROUND NOON. THAT’S USUALLY WHEN EVERYONE EATS LUNCH, YES?? BESIDES, IT SHOULD BE NICE ENOUGH TO EAT OUTSIDE!!

[He feels like he should find a piece of wood to knock on, just to be on the safe side.]

AND, I BELIEVE THAT’S ABOUT IT!! WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL ON SATURDAY!!! BRING YOUR BEST DISHES!!!

I tried calling for Janet, but again, probably not a Place, she probably doesn't have her powers, yadda yadda yadda. But y'know, if you're out there girl, hit me up.

[She restrains herself against the urge for finger guns, but only just barely.]

Anyway, uh, as for the rest of you. If any of you are like, real, and not just holograms or whatever. Is there a portal out of here? Or a train? Because that would definitely speed this shit up a lot.

[Kol has thought on it a lot, but this seemed the simplest way to get to the masses. He felt video responses would get too convoluted and messy, so text was the easiest avenue for his purposes. Plus, it would make it a hell of a lot easier for him to keep up with his own notes of things that way, too.

He's also still coming off of trying to deal with the fact that he went through his first fully-immersive Wonderland Event, complete with what more or less amounts to a very intricate level of compulsion in his mind. Re-written memories, set to act out a part someone else decided he should play. He is not particularly fond of being on the opposite end of that little trick, and the only silver lining in was that it didn't last very long.

But he has other things brewing in the back of his mind about that, and to eventually attempt to accomplish that? He needs to know what kind of powers, magic, and other abilities may be at work, here.]

I know that this place is made up of a little bit of everyone and everything all thrown into someone's toybox for their own fun. Or, that's bloody well what it feels like, at any rate. But because it's such a mix, I find myself curious about who's out there, and what they can do.

Rumor has it, my family's sort of known in these halls, so I don't s'pose I'll be surprising anyone who knew my other siblings before they were popped back home, in owning up to being a vampire. One of the first, back where I'm from, actually.

Which brings me to my next point: Granted, I know it isn't for everyone, and not everyone does it, but there's this really strange sort of almost blanket acceptance of people here that I don't think you find in very many places. You have all these supernaturals and powered people mixing with humans and I don't even know what else. And it's just a thing, another fact of life. People can live here and be what they are, be public about it even, and it doesn't really matter. At least, that's what I've gotten out of my time here.

I imagine at least a good handful of you probably knew what I was when I got here, knew my family's story, or at least pieces of it, but as far as I know, no one's judged me. Certainly, no one's coming running at me with a stake or made threats to find ways to contain me for little more than being what I am.

You just don't have that in most places. People are so judgmental and quick to hate what they don't understand. Me, personally? I love to learn.

Which is why I'm here. No one's obligated to answer, but if you're up for the discussion, tell me. Who are you? What can you do? Not limited to folks of supernatural or powered persuasions, either. I'm interested in hearing anyone's skills.

And on a more personal note? I'm calling out to any witches who may be interested in chatting. You could say I'm a bit of a fan of magic.

Morning, Wonderland!

[ Leslie is bright-eyed when she addresses the network at 9 a.m. - a perfectly reasonable time - a coffee cup in front of her. ]

I wanted to take an informal poll regarding how you feel about the way things happen in Wonderland currently. Now, I realize we can't change being here or not being able to leave or when and why things happen, but everything in between we all directly impact!

[ Removing the lid of her coffee cup, she pulls out a diner style container of sugar, holding it in her hand, gesturing with it as she speaks. ]

First, if you could change one thing about what happened as soon as you arrived here, what would it be? And don't say I wouldn't arrive at all because that's obvious. I mean, tell me about the way information regarding being here was presented to you.

[ Now, she starts pouring sugar into her coffee. And pouring, and pouring. She's not stopping. ]

Second, what's one good aspect to this place you like? It doesn't have to be big, just positive. And if you don't have anything positive to say, maybe ignore this and move on. I mean it. Don't be a jerk.

[ She doesn't stop pouring the sugar until the coffee has visibly risen in the cup. Then she stops, stirs and takes a sip, humming because it's perfect. Then she adds the tiniest bit more sugar until she's finally done. ]

Last question: If you could see one kind of business here - keeping in mind that there's no money to be exchanged for goods and services - what would it be? Personally, I'd want an all-day breakfast restaurant. Now you go!

[ Leslie smiles and the feed ends, and now all she has to do is wait with her sugar coffee for the replies to roll in. ]

I don't... remember most of my life. I've seen things... here... that make me not... want to. [Honestly? He's never wanted to. Since he started his life with Julie, he hasn't wanted to remember his old life, he's been happy with his new one, but...]

Hey everyone! Dipper, here.

[Dipper is sitting on a table in the library, books stacked around him as well as in the chair that some might argue he should be in. But where's the fun in that?]

I've been thinking a lot about the whole "fiction" thing. You know, how some people here are fictional to some other people? I mean, Alice, for one thing, and the whole Wonderland thing, but then there are the fairytale people and the superheroes and the DDMD people and I dunno, all kinds of people. Which is weird, right? But it gets weirder.

[He clambers off the table and turns the camera to reveal a cork board that holds three posters for some of his favorite shows: Tiger Fist, Ghost Harassers, and Duck-tective.]

This is all stuff from my world that, as far as I can tell, doesn't exist in any other world. That might not seem weird, but I've been comparing with Wirt. A lot of other worlds do share media.

[Under his posters, he pins three other posters: Six Million Dollar Man, Ghostbusters, and a piece of paper that just reads "A bunch of non-duck related Sherlock Holmes adaptions."]

But some things my world does share!

[He slaps an Alice in Wonderland poster in the middle across both rows of images.]

So what does it mean? I mean, I'm not an idiot. Pretty sure when you come from a place where the only media you share with other worlds is public domain, it means you're probably pretty fictional yourself. But no one's actually recognized me as fictional, so I guess I'm probably, you know. A really high quality, cult classic type thing. Way too cool for most people to have heard of.

[That's the only reason he's not famous, obviously. His book or movie or whatever couldn't possibly be bad.]

Anyway, I guess I wanted to see if we could identify any patterns here? [He tugs all the images down and starts pinning up pictures he's taken of various people in Wonderland. He pulls a ball of red yarn from his pocket. He's ready to go full mystery board here.] Have you ever been told you're fictional? Have you recognized anyone from fiction? Do you want to have a Ghost Harassers marathon with me?

...that was a joke. But also let me know if you do.

[Wirt, being a good boy who obeys the instructions of medical professionals, waits until he can comfortably sit upright before he sends a message to the network. He still looks kind of exhausted and physically miserable, but he's still looking a lot better than when he first washed up on the beach.]

Um. Hi? I'm...back. I guess I left for a little while?

[Only a week, but it feels strange to Wirt since only a couple of days have passed in the Unknown (and who knows how long it's been outside of that). He has a warm change of clothes, but his old pointy hat is perched nearby and a blue cape he hasn't worn for months is still soaking wet and hanging to dry.]

I just, um. ...Has anyone seen Greg? Did he come back while I was gone? H-He and Beatrice both...they both left Wonderland weeks ago and I should have said something then but everyone was worried about that chess game and I knew they'd gone back to the Unknown, but I still should have like, made an announcement or something.

[After all, they both had people who cared about them in Wonderland, people who might have wondered if they were gone.]

Sorry, that got rambley, I just...I-I need to know if my brother came back here. has anyone seen him? It's really important.

[He looks more worried than he's ever been about Greg, like it's a matter of the utmost urgency, but...there's not much he can do about it, and he suspects he already knows what the answer will be. So, he just mutters a quick "thank you" and shuts the camera off.]

[ooc: The post is video, but action is also welcome if anyone wants to come visit him!]

Gimmie a break, first that chess game, now this shit?

[It sounds like Jolyne's talking to herself, but she's looking right at the camera, holding a disc between her fingers.]

All right, so pretty sure this one's from my world. Short version, some asshole has the power to take your powers, they turn into CDs for some fucking reason, and then he can give them to other people. It's a giant pain in the ass.

[Which is putting it lightly, and yes, she is trying to act like she's merely annoyed by this and didn't spend a few moments panicking even with the announcement earlier because what if said asshole is here.]

I figure here it's not going to be too bad since most of you aren't assholes who are going to run around taking somebody else's shit and using it to hurt people.

[Probably, anyways, it's not like she knows everyone in Wonderland.]

So if you've got any questions, ask away. And in the off chance I'm wrong and this isn't part of that walk a mile in someone else's shoes stuff, let me know if somebody sketchy showed up in Wonderland and I missed it. Thanks.

[And here we have a very purple man with curved, bedazzled horns, red eyes, and the most ostentatious-looking cloak you've ever seen. Also a peacock tattoo snaking up the side of his face. He looks... friendly, inasmuch as someone with sharp teeth and a very demonic countenance can look friendly.]

I think I'm getting the hang of this now. All right... Let's get this out of the way, shall we? Hello, everyone, wherever you may be in this lovely place. My name is Mollymauk Tealeaf- Molly to my friends, and if we're all stuck here, I think we ought to be friends, right?

[He holds up a hand, indicating that everyone watching should wait a moment.] But that is actually the question I want to ask. You see, I've skimmed the materials as much as I care to, so I understand the basics. What I don't understand is how exactly this works?

Not the "events." Those are straightforward [and quite frankly make him glad he has no memories to really draw from EAT SHIT, WONDERLAND]. I mean the community, itself. It's not really a town. There's too many of you for it to be one single group.

I'm just curious how exactly you divide yourself up to protect yourselves. From what I've seen, it can get pretty messy here.

[And that's not a subtle HINT HINT LOOKING FOR GROUP at all. Just because there's a lot of people around doesn't mean a person isn't alone, but that's not what he's here to talk about. HA HA HA.....]

[[ooc: though it won't come up in this post (more than likely), please check out Molly's permission post here as some of his powers/abilities and how he activates them can be offensive/triggering.]]

[ The camera turns on to show piercing blue eyes, blonde hair and a serious face, he may be familiar to some people, he may not be. He’s not concerned with that. He’s all business right now. He does make it a point to show enough of the grounds for people to know where to find him, the edge of the gardens, the lake at his back.]

This is Steve Rogers.

[ He talked to Tony, he got the run down, he’s also done his own research, he’s read the pamphlet, he’s played with the device enough to gather what information he needs- and Natasha should be proud of his information gathering skills. He scopes out the mansion and the grounds and this seems like the easiest way to announce himself- considering who he saw was here. Considering it might not be polite to go track someone down if they think he’s dead- or well, dead in their time. ]

I got here yesterday, I read the pamphlets. Is there anything else I should be aware of that wasn’t covered in those? Any information would be appreciated.

[ With a nod he turns off the device and waits. Who he needs will come to him and anything else he can glean from this place is good. ]

[At exactly midnight, the feed turns on to a very ecstatic skeleton. It appears that Papyrus is in his room, sitting up in his racecar bed and surrounded by different books. It’s like he made a book fort.]

THE DAY IS FINALLY HERE!!!! I HONESTLY DID NOT EXPECT THAT I WOULD BE HERE TO CELEBRATE IT, BUT HERE WE ARE!!

[He strikes a pose!]

MANY YEARS AGO, ON THIS VERY DAY, I WAS BORN!!! TODAY IS MY DAY OF BIRTH!!! OR, IN LAYMAN’S TERMS…TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!! NYEH HEH HEH!!!

[He sighs, looking on.]

NORMALLY, I WOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I WANT FOR MY BIRTHDAY…BUT THE MORE THAT I THINK ABOUT IT, THE LESS I ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT I WANT!! USUALLY I ASK FOR SOME COOL BATTLE-READY FIGURES, BUT I CAN GET, LIKE, A ZILLION OF THOSE IN THE CLOSET. SO THAT KIND OF TAKES AWAY THE EXCITEMENT OF THAT. THERE’S ALSO THE PROSPECT OF WISHING TO GO BACK HOME, BUT I’M ALSO NOT SURE ABOUT THAT…??? I…DON’T REALLY KNOW IF I WANT TO GO BACK HOME. I KIND OF DON’T WANT TO.

[For a moment, he looks deep in thought, concentrating hard, bony fingers tapping on the spine of a book. Then, just as quickly, he looks up to the camera as if he had an epiphany!]

…I KNOW!! MY BIRTHDAY WISH IS THAT I CAN CREATE MEMORABLE MEMORIES WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT ARE HERE FROM NOW UNTIL MY NEXT BIRTHDAY!!! HAPPY MEMORIES!!!! NYEH HEH!!

I MIGHT AS WELL OPEN UP THE FLOOR TO YOUR ANSWERS AS WELL!!! IF YOU’VE HAD TO CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY HERE, WHAT HAVE YOU WISHED FOR IN THE PAST??? AND!!! DID YOUR BIRTHDAY WISHES COME TRUE????? I’M EAGER TO HEAR YOUR ANSWERS!!!

[When the camera clicks on, Mettaton can be seen looking quite normal. The last time he appeared on the Network he'd been a bit... possessed. Completely ignoring that, of course, he is all sunshine and smiles.]

You know, I never expected to be trapped here in Wonderland for two years. But it seems that is my current state of affairs. And may be my state of affairs for awhile.

[He sighs, shakes his head, but then continues.]

My last anniversary here, I celebrated with a big inaugural concert at my performing arts theater. I was planning on doing the same if I was still here at my two year mark but with this war coming up, it doesn't feel like quite the right time to do so. But! I don't want things to go unmarked so how about this:

If we all survive, and in relatively one piece, from this power struggle between our two illustrious queens, why don't we all throw a party of some kind? Things have been rather... rough and perhaps a spot of fun might be good for all of us! What do you all say? Ideas? Questions? Rejections?

They say that keeping secrets is bad for our wellbeing.

[And Pearl knows a whole lot about just how bad keeping a secret can be for one's wellbeing, especially when said secret is forced into her and she is physically unable to speak the truth even thousands of years after the matter.]

[Yes, that hurts quite a bit.]

So I was thinking that we could all partake in an anonymous confessional! I'll go first, of course.

[She wonders if the truth would work over text, but oddly enough, she is too scared to try in front of so many people. Not scared that she could be free from the burden at last, but scared that it will be just as fruitless, and she'll have to face the reality of her apparently eternal mental captivity once more. Clinging to that little glimmer of possibility feels infinitely better than destroying it outright.]

[It wouldn't make sense to anyone but a few, anyways. Someday, somehow, the time will come. Hopefully. Maybe. Stars and heavens above, please. But for now, she had something a bit easier to stomach.]

Okay. Okay.
I like watching humans sleep sometimes.

::When the video feed turns on, a pink flower shirted Asgore is clearly somewhere very sunny. There's also a number of potted plants set up around him. Some low, long boxes as well. Tall purple fountain grass, tomato plants just going into flower, low sweet potato vines, fuzzy green lambs ears, large clumps of blue false indigo and dusty purple lavender, and even a little trellis with the beginnings of some golden honeysuckle clamoring up the sides. Asgore is sitting on a low, wooden bench with a pot of bright yellow coreopsis in his lap.::

So... I am something of a gardener. And I putter around the gardens here. It is probably my favorite hobby.

::Asgore picks up the coreopsis off of his lap to hold it out to the camera just a bit::

These coreopsis, for example, are quite hardy. Such a beautiful yellow color, they'll flower for months if you care for them well, and they are a favorite with butterflies, and they also provide seeds for birds in the fall. Such a wonderful little plant.

::Asgore pulls the pot of flowers back from the camera, and sets them down on the ground next to him. He looks back into the camera. Somehow it all feels a bit like the Queen of England giving her annual Christmas message.::

I find a great deal of comfort in tending to a garden. I have slowly been... moving a few things, now and then, to the roof... during those long stretches between events. Spring is such a busy season for a gardener. Seeds to plant, seedlings to transplant, vegetables to stake, vines to train, there's so many little things to do. But, I'm glad to do it. I have made this little corner of the roof to... create a comfortable space. And I would like to welcome you to it. If you see a ripe tomato, please take one, although they will not be ready for a few weeks yet. Cut a flower or a spray of lavender, take a sprig of spearmint or peppermint or apple mint, just leave some for anyone else who wishes to visit and enjoy the space. There is a bench. It is quite sturdy.

::Asgore looks around a bit, trying to find something else to comment on.::

The sweet potatoes will not be ready for several months, yet, so please do not dig them up prematurely. I think that is everything. Please enjoy your time in the Roof Garden.

::Asgore stands up to shut off the camera feed, and after a few moments of just a wall of bright pink Hawaiian shirt, the feed goes off::

[Souji's sitting in the grass somewhere on the grounds. A fat gray dragon about the size of a schnauzer with very useless little wings is wandering around behind him. He's looking back at her before turning to the camera with a pensive expression.]

If this war turns out to be an actual war, what should we do about our pets?

[He figures they'll just have to be kept out of the way, but it worries him. He's had that dragon for over five years now, and she was a gift from someone important. He's sure everyone else with a pet feels the same way.]

Should we...I don't know, designate someone to look after them?

[Sans is apparently dealing with the fallout of that whole event by doing what he does best--aggressively relaxing and pretending everything is fine. He's sitting on the beach, towel spread out beneath him and a beach umbrella propped up in the sand. There's an open bag of ketchup-flavored potato chips and some kind of nondescript can of soda with a straw in it. He's wearing a stupid, floppy beach hat and obnoxiously large sunglasses. He's got a fishing pole lying in the sand next to him, but right now he seems to be knitting.]

you know what the bright side of all this crap is? at the end of the day, they're just events. they suck, and then they're over, and then we have a couple weeks to just kinda...do nothing and wait for the next one. sorta proves that old saying, "this too shall pass," yeah? even if it's the worst thing that's ever happened, you're, uh...you're guaranteed that it'll end in just a couple days.

must be worse for the people whose worlds these events come from. yeah? they don't get that ending. they just sorta constantly deal with it. wonderland's almost like a...

[He spreads his hands vaguely at his whole beach scene he's crafted here.]

...a vacation. heh.

[He sets down his knitting for a moment to grab his soda. How does a skeleton drink from a straw when he has no lips? Don't worry about it.]

so, what...uh, what d'you think it means if someone dies and then comes back--early? like uh, a full day early?
