Three years. Three years is a really long time to be stuck in one place isn't it? I've been here for three years already.

I guess that makes me one of the veterans here huh?

I mean I know there are people here who've been longer, but. Well. Not many of us make it this far.

[ he's not really sure where he's going with this. He does have a point, he just isn't sure how he wants to ask what he wants to ask. He's rolling a ring around between his fingers as he talks, the camera may dip to catch him fidgeting with it. Those questions he knows no one but his mirror can answer and well, that's not happening. So he'll stick with things that other people can answer. ]

Has anyone else never gone home? I mean. Like when some people disappear for a week and come back after time has passed gone home, not for good.

It's been three years and I've never gotten to leave and come back. So anyone else whose been here close to this long or longer, have any of you never gone home?

[ He's almost afraid to think of what it means. He knows Jo had never left and that was because she had nothing to go back to. And well, everyone from home whose been here is either before him or Loki who had no idea what he was up to. Did it also mean he had no future to go back to?]

If anyone wants to come help me celebrate three years I'll be at the bar. [ By which he means the old bar, because he's got issues. ]

[ Well, it's another newbie, but he's sure calm about this whole thing. There's not a whole lot Bucky needs to process here. When you work to combat supernatural wackos, well, you have to expect waking up in wacko places. ]

Huh. I've gotta say, this is probably the gentlest kidnapping I've ever experienced. And there's even a theme, which is a new twist on an old problem. I like captives who think outside the box! I'm not complaining! You know, makes this all a little less tedious, am I right?

[ Through the Looking Glass of all things, too! That is mainly why Bucky isn't taking this too seriously. This seems more like a weird dream or an illusion—Something he's experienced before within the literal head space of a powerful mutant. ]

Guess that makes me the latest and greatest catch, huh? Name's James, by the way! And if any ladies would like to give me a full tour around the prison grounds, I'd be much obliged.

About five months ago I asked about your worlds and how magic was involved. If you weren't here then we can get to that.

( It's all for science!! )

While it gave me something interesting to read it's only half of the story - or theory. Some worlds seem to run predominantly on magic, like here, but there are some worlds where magic doesn't appear to exist. I'm not going to get into a magic versus science debate but I would be interested in knowing the other side of the story.

And, as always, everything is private. Until there's results.
Where are you from?
When are you from?

Are you familiar with magic at home? (Not from stories)
If yes, is magic a secret or public knowledge?
If yes, does daily life use magic or science/technology more?

Were the kitchen appliances something you had seen before?
If no, what would you have used instead?
Do you consider the appliances advanced, common knowledge, or out-dated?

If someone were to contract an illness would your world be able to provide medicine/a vaccine, instantly cure them or other? (If other please explain)
Has science ever gone too far/wrong?
Obviously if you have other examples you can list them. It would be interesting to see how worlds are different even for people at the same time, and if anything did influence that change. Or if it could be useful here.

And if you did miss the last poll you can always fill that in too.
Where are you from?
When are you from?
Did you already know about:
    Magic?
    Supernatural creatures? ( e.g. nazi vampires )
    Other non-human things? ( e.g. gods )
    Portals?
    Resurrecting the dead?
    Reality altering?
    Alternate/pocket dimensions?

his knuckles are unmarked graves )

I know that there are people here who deal in memories. [ The voice is low, a little rough from long disuse, but still unmistakably Bucky's. ] Is there anyone who knows how to get them back and... fix them?

[ He lingers long enough for replies, and then turns off his phone and moves on to the roof. It's exposed, but the chill doesn't bother him, and it will help to keep the curious away. Or so he hopes. He has a sniper's nest there, and the scope on his rifle will let him get a look at the scar on the hillside.

He lays down on his belly to do just that, the rifle braced against his shoulder. He's wearing ill-fitting layers, the brim of a baseball cap pulled low over his eyes. Keen eyes might catch the edge of a knife sheath strapped against his lower back, hidden largely by the bulk of his clothing. It's a fair bet that he's carrying at least as many weapons as he has layers to hide them.

If anyone approaches, he may not move, but he will notice. ]

Okay, public service announcement, here: if you don't filter or lock your messages, we can all see them. And read and hear them. Which usually doesn't matter, but just... I mean, if it's quote-unquote sensitive information, you probably don't want it on the public network. And we don't, either. Usually. And even then... I mean, there're a handful of tech-savvy people in the mansion, so even if it's encrypted, it still could be, you know, decrypted. I'm just saying, it's almost always better to talk in person if you're making big plans or swapping secrets.

That said, does anyone know the network's origin? I mean, I never pegged the Queen of Hearts or the Duchess or whoever to be good with computers. It had to start somewhere, by someone who knew what they were doing. It's a pretty complicated system.

Just... don't tell me it was "magic." [ Sigh. ]

[Elsa's room, decorated mostly in several shades of pale blue satin, is visible behind her. What isn't visible to the eye of the communication device is that she's completely frozen over the door to the room, unfreezing it only to come and go.

It hasn't seemed like a good idea to be in the library in days. She leaves when she has to, including a recent trip to the roof to try to get a better idea of what's been going on, but she's been spending the majority of her waking hours close to this particular home.

Her expression is serious and thoughtful.]

I'm fine right now, but if I weren't, I don't -- [she hesitates, frowning] -- I wouldn't have an anchor, not anymore. I can't be the only one like this. Is anyone else?

I have a younger sister, but she's not here, and until now I've been grateful for that. I think I still am, but....

I guess that leads me to wonder: if there's someone you care about, is it selfish to wish they were here?

Or is it just normal? What if it was someone who you couldn't see any other way?

[She lets out a small, frustrated sigh -- the topic is still on her mind, but she has one more thing she wants to say before she ends the message.]

Anyway, if you think there's something I can do to help you, please let me know. I'll do what I can.

[ACTION OPTIONs: When things do calm down, it will be possible to find Elsa in the library again. Maybe she's sorting through a pile of books on a table, or maybe she's standing on a ladder, reeeeeeaching for something on a high shelf. She's always interested in recommendations.

She also takes her little dog, Trigg, for walks in the garden and on the grounds. Or maybe he's taking her.]

setup and introspection )

[When the feed starts, Steve's seated at the desk in his room, which is as neat as always. There's distant barking in the background that he does his best to ignore, at least for the moment.]

For anyone who knows Bucky Barnes, he's left Wonderland. All of his stuff is still here, though, so he'll be back. But... he's not going to be the same.

[Usually when Steve makes a public announcement, the words flow out of him with no trouble, but now it feels like each one is sticking in his throat.]

Back home, something was done to him. He won't remember who he is, and he probably won't remember any of you. He's... [He heaves a sigh.] When he first gets back here, he'll be pretty disoriented. He may lash out, so you might want to keep your distance at first.

[Steve and Natasha, those people who are in the know, they can help him adjust. Or so he hopes.] But eventually, he's going to need help. He's going to need friends. He's still Bucky, he's just gotta be reminded of that. [Together, maybe they can all make that happen.

Steve dips his head down and a brief, somber smile passes over his face.]
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll explain as best as I can. [And then he reaches forward and ends the feed.]

[It's been almost exactly a month since she's arrived in this place that they call Wonderland. The only thing she's managed to do, really, is to convince herself that she is not in the land of mutant genocides. That, along with Erik's presence here, was more than enough to convince her that another video post was necessary. The other mutants who'd belonged to the Brotherhood were dead, and she knew there were mutants here like Ned. Maybe they were hiding and maybe they weren't, but she felt it was only fair to reach out to them.

When she flicks on the video feed, she's at some sort of ornately carved desk with her hands folded awkwardly in front of her. She is her usual tried-and-true blue, wearing a red tank top. She'd actually had time to dress herself for the occasion instead of having to be nude for reasons of sudden disguise.]

...I think it's been long enough with me here that this announcement is overdue, but I didn't exactly want to paint a neon target on myself while things were happening with what people call "Mirrors", here.

My name is Raven Darkholme, but I'd like it if you called me Mystique. Like some of the other people here, I have powers that had me labelled a 'freak' when I was at home, even as a child who knew no better.

I've been hunted, injured, and nearly killed by people who think that I'm dangerous for some of the things I could do, not the things I've done. I've been hunted because I refuse to hide myself in plain view because other people think that I should, because the way I look makes them uncomfortable.

Because the fact I can do this,

[She lets the scales ripple across her body, briefly displaying to the audience watching he usual blonde persona before flowing back to her natural state,]

makes me different. I know we should all be working together here in Wonderland, but I wanted to give any other mutants out there who might be looking for a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen a chance to be heard.

I'll be that person, Wonderland, if you need me.

-- uh, I guess that's all.

[Dang, and she was doing so well with being eloquent up until the end of that sentence. She flicks the phone off, ending her broadcast.]

Ok, I'll try and keep this short and sweet. There should have been a little gift outside your door in the form of chocolate with a nifty logo on it.

[A task that would have been ridiculously annoying if she hadn't had help in the form of one Percy Jackson.]

Since I've been here for like 6ish months, and it's clear I'm not going home any time soon - I figured I might as well do something semi-productive.

[No, this has absolutely nothing to do with her recent death - nope. Not at all.]

Coffee shop's open for business on the 1st floor. You can't miss it - it's right next to the training center so stop in and get your java fix sometime. Also, I guess if people want to help out, I def won't say no.

[It's not like it's a legit legit business with paperwork and things like paychecks. Makes things way less messy that way.]

One more thing before I forget - if I'm not around, I don't object to people doing their own thing as long as you don't burn it down or break everything and leave a mess in your wake. That happens and I'll find you and I will kick your butt. Don't think that I won't. Because I will.

[Or she'll call for back-up to do the butt kicking. DETAILS.]

I'll be here hanging out so stop in and say hi. We also have pie courtesy of Ned, so that's a thing. There's also non-caffeinated drinks like tea and decaf if caffeine isn't your thing.

Oh!If anybody's up for it, I'm totes looking for guinea pigs to test coffee things out on so just let me know if you're game.

[And with that that, she ends the feed and returns to setting up various colored coffee mugs behind the bar.]

Ha! Got it--Wait...

[ Give him a sec, Wonderland. This is some newfangled technology you've slapped him with. He's got audio working, he just needs to get the video up and running-- ]

Ah--Okay, perfect!

[ There's that shining face! Yeah, he is super smug right now having figured this all out on his own. Let him have his moment. Oh, and you better believe he is still in uniform, ladies~! Domino mask and all. ]

Man, this is just--Brilliant! [ Yeah, he's just going to steal his British brothers' slang. It seems to fit. ] Seriously, this is--Hey, so can you all see me? [ But that winning smile quickly dissolves as he gets down to the meat of his problems. ]

This place sure does a good job distractin' you from the big picture here. But Bucky sure won't be! Just who are these faceless puppet masters runnin' this freak show? [ Better not be Nazis, that's all he's saying! ] And have them explain to me just how they can pull a soldier from Italy all the way here in a night? And don't sugarcoat it! Give it to me straight, alright? I may look young, but I ain't gonna balk!

( ooc: I also have a log up if people prefer action/prose instead.)
