[ After the past few events, Caitlin feels like they all could do with being a little more prepared. Or at least, they could do with knowing who to go to for certain issues. She's already well-aware of the scientific community in the mansion, but there are other fields, right? Others who can lend a hand with... anything.

So she's trying to appear very professional here, in her lab. With her lab coat on.
]

Hi! So, a while back, Claire made a post asking if there were any other medical professionals here. And given the flavor of the last few... [ how does she phrase this ] incidents, I thought it may be useful to get an idea of who can do what around here.

[ She waves a hand, as if to cut off the question. ]

And I'm not asking if you have any special powers or anything. Though if you do, kudos. Even more so if you're comfortable talking about and using yours. [ Cause she is decidedly not. ] Think more along the lines of skills. Talents. Things you have specialized training in. That kind of thing. This way, when things go a particular sort of pear-shaped, we may all have an idea of who can help.

[ And then she smiles nervously. ] Okay. That's all. Thanks!

[Ahem, ahem. A boy with a shock of bleached hair clears his throat, fidgeting around in his seat in search of a comfortable position public speaking doesn't afford. Some of you might recognize him from his ill-fated adventure in the forest (and others from more ill-fated adventures in flirting) but fortunately today's message isn't half so dire.]

Hey, so, anybody wants to come, we're doin' a thing down by the stream Wednesday night. Nothin' fancy, just a few people.

We're havin' our own lantern ceremony. Like a, uhh, dedication thing for people who've passed on. People you're thinkin' about, stuff you're prayin' for. Shit like that. It's tradition back home, but everyone's gotta have stuff worth commemoratin', I figure. So! Everyone's welcome, even if it's not your custom.

[It's then the boy sighs and lifts a rectangular shape into view that was resting out of sight by his feet. It's a paper lantern, beautifully hand-painted in a koi pattern that makes the fish seem alive, as though they're swimming along the folds of the paper.]

I told him to keep it simple. [Damn it, this is not simple, Yusuke.] You don't gotta go overboard like... this.

[He looks awkward holding the thing, eyebrows pinched exasperatedly, and finally just sighs.]

What you do is take a lantern like this, write your prayer or message or whatever, then light a candle inside and float it on the water. That's how it works. The light's supposed to guide spirits--or that's how the official story goes, anyways.

If you wanna join in and take one of these puppies for a spin, that's where we'll be. That's all I got to say, so... thanks? Maybe I'll see some of you there.

(OOC: And you can find the mingle log for the 12th up here! Be there or be square. Or be square and come anyway, we don't discriminate.)

[Wonderland had a new landmark from that Mirror event. Minato thought he should take the time to go out and explore the new lake again. It was peaceful out here, and he liked that there were frogs and fish and those red water lilies. It was a different atmosphere than the beach and ocean.

But he did come out here for a reason too. He had already searched all the normal places within the mansion and around the grounds. Still nothing. Nothing had turned up. No sign or anything. He hadn't wanted to believe it, but he knew it was inevitable. Things like this were possible.

He finally settled himself in a rowboat and paddled his way to the middle of the crystal clear lake. It had been murky and cloudy the last time he had seen it. Then when he was ready, lying down in that boat and looking up at the sky, he sent out his message on the network.]

[ and due to a horrible streak of bad luck, while akechi is sitting (extremely cramped) in the catbus on the way to the actual lodge, his fidgeting fingers along the device happen to click it on at the most inconvenient time. perhaps it's the world playing a cruel trick on him. who knows. either way, the feed shows the brunette hunched up in the back of the bus with a few others, face contorted in discomfort. under his breath he's saying something that sounds genuine and a lot like ]

[ if you're in the catbus, feel free to harass him during the ride, or you know, hear him say it's his birthday. or scroll through the feed and hear it on there and then angrily turn around when you realize he hasn't told anyone before this.

it's really cramped in here. ]

ᴄᴀᴛᴄʜ-ᴀʟʟ - ᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ
[ akechi will be rooming with stefan, so feel free to barge into his room at any point. other than that, feel free to bother him (he'll likely be reading by the fire with hot chocolate), or standing around the entrance of the lodge "admiring" the snow. he isn't planning on going out into it except for the snowball fight, so he won't be lost at all in the storm. ]

[ When the video feed switches on there's a small noise of surprise before Haru's gently smiling face comes into view. If she's disturbed by anything in Wonderland she certainly isn't showing it, instead she's more impressed that she managed to get the thing to work when she's not generally good with machines. Unlike others, Haru is going for the video route and bucking that trend.]

Ah, it's working. For a moment I was getting worried there that I'd broken this thing. Hmm, well, I'm not too sure what to say right now; it looks like a lot of people who turn up here ask lots of things about this place. But I do have a question that could do with a few varying opinions so I think I'll go ahead and ask it.

Would you consider coffee beans to be a food, or would you think of it more as a condiment? More of an ingredient that isn't classed as a food? I do know some people eat coffee beans but I'm only half certain they were serious. I'm hoping to look into growing coffee beans but I need to think through carefully what it is I'm looking for and how I'll go about getting it. Thank you very much in advance for answers given!

If there's any information anyone wants to share from their experiences here, please feel free to. Everyone's thoughts would be valuable I think when it comes to being in a new world like this; I'm from Japan and I can't say this is familiar outside of literature and even then it's unique.

Oh! Also, thank you very much for my room, it looks wonderful.

[ Roughly the first hour of Akira’s Wonderland existence is spent holed up in a tea room, his dead cell phone abandoned for the new communicator and his expression a mask of mild but definite fascination. Some horror too - the UI on this thing could really use a rework - but Futaba, really? Ann? Morgana, you weren’t supposed to mow down the greenery. God knows what Yusuke got up to besides searching for new and magical pigments in highly dangerous places, Akira imagines.

Not that it seems that the Phantom Thieves are known here let alone feared or pursued by what approximates a police force. But his wincing is reflexive; everything in him wants to avoid attention after, well. What ended up happening. Limited browsing on the network indicates that people may not know and that advertising a trauma that might have been their fault wouldn’t be the wisest action ever.

So, introductions. Akira needs to get his hands on these reins again ASAP.
]

Sorry for the upset my friends might have caused last week. No invasions from outer space or otherwise will be happening. We come in peace.

I hope the hedge maze is okay, also. Those take a lot of time to grow. Related, I worry a bit that the belief that plants have feelings may take on a somewhat literal capacity in a place of magic like Wonderland is.

But for now you can call me Joker. Not the first and not the last new resident but one nonetheless. I’d like some recommendations on Wonderland-musts if it’s possible.

Please don’t say “dying.” I’m waiting on that one with any luck.

[ Is that enough for a gentleman thief to say? As for the rest of them… How does one convene a secret group of supernatural thieves while being both cryptic enough for protection and friendly enough to ward off the kind of unease that being cryptic evokes? ]

And finally, Phantom Thieves assemble?

[ Nailed it. ]
