Three years. Three years is a really long time to be stuck in one place isn't it? I've been here for three years already.

I guess that makes me one of the veterans here huh?

I mean I know there are people here who've been longer, but. Well. Not many of us make it this far.

[ he's not really sure where he's going with this. He does have a point, he just isn't sure how he wants to ask what he wants to ask. He's rolling a ring around between his fingers as he talks, the camera may dip to catch him fidgeting with it. Those questions he knows no one but his mirror can answer and well, that's not happening. So he'll stick with things that other people can answer. ]

Has anyone else never gone home? I mean. Like when some people disappear for a week and come back after time has passed gone home, not for good.

It's been three years and I've never gotten to leave and come back. So anyone else whose been here close to this long or longer, have any of you never gone home?

[ He's almost afraid to think of what it means. He knows Jo had never left and that was because she had nothing to go back to. And well, everyone from home whose been here is either before him or Loki who had no idea what he was up to. Did it also mean he had no future to go back to?]

If anyone wants to come help me celebrate three years I'll be at the bar. [ By which he means the old bar, because he's got issues. ]

I've never been home and I've been here almost six years.

[ That makes him feel somewhat better. ]

Well you definitely win. Six years is a long time.

[He squinches one eye part way closed in his version of a grimace.]

It's something I'd rather not be the winner at, if I had a choice.

[ He pauses, because this may be a weird question, but he's Billy so he barrels on anyway. ]

How do you cope? With that?

[That question has come up several times recently, which, to Souji anyway, is interesting. He hadn't been asked before, but now that he's close to his arrival's anniversary, it's become a topic of conversation.]

I lose track of time. Not on purpose or anything. I just...don't realize how long it's been. I even miss my..."anniversary" most of the time.

[ That makes sense, because it's pretty similar for Billy. ]

I do too. Lose track of time that is. I hadn't even realized it had been three years until someone asked me a few weeks ago. I missed last year's.

[ And he's missed his birthday two years in a row. It's hard when time doesn't actually move. ]

[Souji can definitely relate to having forgotten his birthday. He hasn't celebrated it in years, in part because it...just doesn't seem appropriate to, when it doesn't really count.]

Me too. I've been thinking about it more lately than I used to, though. Someone I know well showed up for the third time, and...I guess that reminded me.

[ Billy makes a sympathetic face at that. ]

Are they from back home for you or somewhere else and they just keep ending up here?

They're from my world, but we've never met there.

[He hopes they will someday, but he can't help but doubt that sometimes.]

So they forget you every time?

[ He knows how hard that is. ]

I'm sorry, that's tough.

[Souji nods in response to that question. That was definitely the hard part, though in some ways he didn't mind getting to know them again. What he worries about the most is that someday they'll come back and be a different them, somehow.]

Do you know firsthand?

[ Billy nods. ]

Yeah. It's happened a few times, with people from my worlds and friends I've made here who have left and then come back.

It's weird knowing things about a person who has no idea who you are.

Yeah. I feel a little guilty for it.

[And it's honestly just kind of awkward. It makes it hard to "get to know" someone, even if he doesn't mind that part.]

Yeah. I know, it's really weird, and sometimes they don't want to know they were here already and it's more awkward.

[ Damn Wonderland its it's weird memory and time shenanigans. ]

I'm lucky my friend is able to take that kind of thing in stride.

[It's not like their lives weren't weird enough to begin with--it makes it a lot easier to roll with the even weirder.]

It sounds like it was more complicated for you.

[ He shrugs.]

Not really, not yet. But I have a feeling if a certain person shows up it will be. But who knows with this place, he probably won't come back.

I'd like to say there's a good chance that won't happen, but this is the third time for me so far, and that's not even statistically likely, if we think of all the people who could probably show up.

[It makes you wonder if Wonderland is specifically choosing people or not.]

I think I gave up on even trying to figure this place out. Wonderland likes to ignore statistics, and you know everything else that makes sense in the world.

[ He's always wondered how Wonderland chooses who it wants from what worlds. What makes Billy more special then the hundred of other super powered people in his world, of the millions of regular people? Why did Wonderland want him and not them? ]

[Souji's thought have followed a similar train of thought, though not all that often, considering how many other Persona users have shown up over his time here.]

At least there's gravity.

[ He says that with a laugh though. ]

Next thing you know we'll have an event were we are all floating around in the air.

[He smiles a little. He can just imagine the chaos that particular event would cause.]

[Billy might already know that, considering Souji basically lives in the diner, he's so busy running it, but it's still nice to introduce himself.]

[ It would be terrible and awesome at the same time. Billy returns the smile, he might know Souji but they hadn't ever spoken before. ]

Billy, it's nice to meet you. Officially.

[A beat.]

And I hope you're not here that much longer.

[It's weird to say something like that and it not be insulting, but in Wonderland, it's one of the better well-wishing things to say.]

[ billy gets it, and he doesn't take offense. Which is why he returns the sentiment. ]

I hope the same for you.

[ It's a weird sort of feeling when someone leaves, a mix of relief for them and sadness that they are gone. ]
