( the feed opens up to just his face, a satisfied grin plastered across his mouth now that he sees that he did, in fact, get this thing to work. it doesn't quite reach his eyes, though; they're a bit red, definitely swollen. don't judge him. )

Hi! My name’s Jon Kent. I’m looking for my mom and dad. My dad’s name is Clark, and my mom is Lois. My dad looks a lot like me, just bigger? My mom has brown hair. I’m sure they’re fine, but I haven’t been able to find them yet.

( the grin shifts into something a bit more sheepish, free hand raising to adjust the big, bulky glasses sitting on his nose. )

And uh. . how do I know which room’s mine? Why are there ogres outside--?

[Groots sits up on his device, unsure how he ended up talking on here but that's what's happening and it doesn't throw him for long.

He waves slowly at the phone thing and smiles.]

I am Groot. [Who are you?] I am Groot. [He is Groot, btw.]

( he's not sure if he's repeating everything on purpose or if he's just. one of those things that can only say one thing. like battle monsters. or dogs. so he'll continue on anyway. )

I'm Jon--but I introduced myself already, haha. Have you been here a while, Groot? You're awfully small. ( but he. he definitely sounds more enthused than anything else when he says it. )

I am Groot.

[He hasn't been here long. Like a few weeks? He forgot to keep track of time. It's been a lot of long days and the sun has been up and down a lot so he assumes it's been longer than a day. You get all of that? Good. He'll keep going.] I am Groot! [Not small! Just compact. Who needs a big useless body when he has the power of one anyway?]

( okay, so, that's definitely the only thing he can say, right? even through the device, jon can definitely make out the slight differences in his voice, the inflections on his syllables. not that jon understands what it means, but. he'll just continue on anyway. )

How old're you? I'm ten--so I'm kinda small, too! But I'll get bigger, soon. My dad's pretty giant, and I'm sure I'll grow to be just as big as him.

[His head slowly tilts.

He frowns.

Looks at himself, looks at the boy, looks back at himself. How old is he? There's a question. He scratches his head before leaning over and hitting the text function.]

[He switches back and then shrugs at the camera. He's not sure. Maybe he's ten too. Ten seems like a good age. He is definitely ten.] I am Groot!

( at least this tiny plantman is super expressive; makes it easy to get where he's going even if he can't really understand what he's trying to say. )
