[ She pauses, sending this part about a full minute later. ]

He'll want to murder the man I think responsible.

Would you talk him out of it?

[ If they were anywhere else? No, and she wouldn't hesitate to say so. ]

I'm not sure. Would Jamie murdering the man who killed me be seen as just as violent and unnecessary by everyone here?

[ And besides that: ]

If nothing has been done by now then it's clear where the community at large stands on someone being murdered outside of an event.

[ She couldn't accuse him because her hands are tied for lack of evidence. She couldn't have him arrested because there are no laws, no jail. And yet if Jamie killed Fitz, it would only be fuel for the fire of 'justice' and as their lives always go, she and Jamie would probably be the first people to be made examples of. Because nothing can ever go right in their lives. ]

Violent? Probably. Unnecessary... Depends on who you talk to.

[As long as have undeniable proof of who it was, go for it.]

Wonderland itself is likely to blame for a large part of that. Everybody gets complacent because of what it provides, whether they meant to or not.

[ That's the rub. Getting proof. Outside of him confessing, there's nothing linking him to her murder for now. ]

I don't doubt that's true. But I do hope no one else has to know what this fear is like.

[ She hates being afraid and having no control over why she is. She can't take herself out of the circumstances. She just has to deal with it. ]

Still, I'll sleep better at night now, once Jamie's healed.

Even before he's healed, I'd imagine.

[Since even if he's injured, she's not alone anymore and that can have such a powerful impact on a person.]

How are you holding up with all of this?

[ It takes a while for her to respond because she's fighting against her first urge to lie to him. ]

I don't know. He and I, there's nothing we can't overcome together. But I know what he has to go back to. For twenty years, Hawke, all of the pain, all of the hurt.

[He would have accepted the lie, for what it's worth. Sometimes you just have to.]

Nobody said you had to be completely fine immediately. And even if you know what he has to go back to, it doesn't mean you can't enjoy the time you have here.

No, I know. Of course, that's true.

[ She tries, damned hard to have that mindset. But after nearly drowning the foundation of what she believes was shaken. Her murder only served as a reminder of how quickly a life can end. ]

I know he gets through it all, at least. That's something.

Even if Wonderland makes you forget it, part of you will still know he makes it. I don't doubt that for a second.

[He's heard the way Claire talks about Jamie, the way she looks at him and feels about him and he knows not even Wonderland could keep them apart.]
