Hey everyone! My name's Steven. Steven Universe! And I figured it was about time I did another one of these open message thingies. Since... it's been about a year since I got here. [He places a hand on his head and smiles meekly.] Time really flies, huh?

So I think we can all stand to get to know each other better and become friends and stuff! Plus Alice gave me an idea earlier this month... talking about people we miss from home. I know it can be tough stuff, but I think it'll really help to keep our memories of them clear! So let me get this ball rolling by talking about Lion! [With that, he holds up a drawing of a big pink lion.] I guess he's the mane event? ...That's right! Back home, I have a pet lion. He can be kinda difficult sometimes... a lot of the time... but he really loves me! He has special powers and a pocket dimension in his mane, too. [A beat.] I should probably also mention that I have powers too, 'cause I'm part-gem!

Now it's your turn! Tell me stuff about yourself, or people you know, or ask me questions about my stuff, or just turn in your applications for friendship. [A beat.] Orrr all of the above?

[Lapis thinks about this. Defaulting to text is her habit in Wonderland, and not long ago she still probably would have done that as usual without putting much thought into the matter. But it is just a habit, and it's always felt a little awkward when it ends up applying to Steven. There's nothing stopping her from video chatting with him of all people, they did that on Earth just fine once she got used to it. Making exceptions for him is just par for the course anyway.

And then speaking of Earth, the people she misses... well, for the most part, they're here. That's not really a Wonderland thing in her case. But she chose not to tell Steven about her leaving before, and nothing has come up change that since, so she's not about to just up and honestly answer the prompt now.

Anyway, after almost two years here's Lapis's first video post ever, truly a feat befitting the special occasion. She's chilling on the roof and gives the presumed Steven behind the camera a smile.]

I didn't realize it'd been that long either... Or maybe that short. It seems like so much has happened.

[It's nice to have a video chat with Lapis again! It reminds him of home. ...But with less Lion attacking laptops.]

Hey Lapis! [He chimes the greeting sweetly.] Yeah, it feels like just yesterday when I found you two in that weird bathhouse. ...And it also feels like it was a whole other life! Time can be really weird lile that.

[Now there's a trip down somewhat terrible memory lane.]

You know, I still don't get what that one was about. I mean, you missed the part where really annoying copies of ourselves attacked us, but why all the steam?

A-actually I did meet a copy of me too... [He says that quietly before quickly moving on, with more energy!] But the steam's a natural part of the bathhouse! Everyone has hot water running for the baths, so it makes lots of steam! And the steam itself can be really relaxing too!

[THEN AGAIN apparently now there are dang diamond saunas, and who can say what their vast cultural significance on Homeworld may be. The true cornerstone of civilization.]

Okay, yeah. It's more like, what do the annoying copies have to do with a giant bathroom in the first place?

[Mind you, she did catch that first bit; it's not that she's not concerned about it, she's merely prepared to get through the inanity before deciding whether that needs to be pursued at all. It WAS a year ago, it can't exactly be urgent now.]

[It's one way to be held in high esteam.

Steven does seem more stumped by this question, and he smiles meekly.]

Now that one's a tougher one! I guess it all has to do with that guy's memory... Maybe he just happened to meet his copy in a bathhouse, or maybe that was something his copy liked. There's so many possibilities!

Whatever it is, it's gotta be awkward. I mean, even if that part came from someone else, it still just raises questions. Ugh, events are weird.

They are weird! [He says, breathing a laugh.] So, so weird. ...But, you know Lapis, I think other people would say the same thing if there was an event from our memories! [And what are the odds of that.]

There was one before you showed up, actually. The whole place turned into a Kindergarten.

[So no points for guessing who in particular that event came from. Or that half of the event, at least; Lapis wrinkles her nose a little.]

...Only it got mixed up with someone else's and we were humans. So, still weird, no offense.

It- it did?! [His eyes widen in surprise. He hopes that wasn't too scary for people!]

None taken. I can only imagine how weird it must have been, especially being human inside a Kindergarten! I hope you two were okay...! [He frets over their past human selves.]

[Shrug.] Peridot probably would have enjoyed it too much otherwise, even with the monsters. I've heard enough about perfectly-aligned exit holes as it is.

[It's truly amazing how persistently her excitement about that stuff has survived. No one can say Peridot wasn't good at her unwittingly evil job. Anyway, not that Lapis was very pleased about sprouting a bunch of internal organs herself, but it's happened a few times now and that one's just water under the bridge. At least everyone remembered who they were for once.]

[Steven giggles.]

She does love her lectures! Anyway, I'm glad that things went well enough. [A beat.] Wait, if there was an event from our world, does that mean you forgot something?!

[That's a sobering line of discussion. For Steven's sake she'll try not to think about it too hard. It would be nice to keep this reasonably pleasant for as long as possible, however realistic that may be.]

When that happens, you lose a word. So it's... the name of the other Kindergarten on Earth. The non-Amethyst one.

[Likewise there are possibly better ways to distinguish that Kindergarten, but not ones Lapis wants to get into right now either.]

[He was worried that she might have forgotten something important! At least she still called him by his name, so he could be relieved that she still remembers that.

As she refers to what she forgot, he shifts awkwardly and looks to the side.]

Oh. Th-that place. [The Beta Kindergarten. There's no other place it could be. The Kindergarten where Jasper was born... and where she was corrupted.

After a beat, he quickly tries to jolt energy back into the conversation.]

At- at least you didn't forget any of our names, or about fart noises or anything!

[Lapis can't help but chuckle at that, at least. These two know what's important and it's silly noises.]

That would be tragic.

[Steven giggles and throws his hands up in the air.]

Tragedy averted! No Wonderland can take away the most important things from us!
