[Sunburst seems pretty pleased when the feed actually starts up again. HEY GUYS LOOK, VIDEOS ARE BACK ON. He gives a little wave of a forehoof in greeting.]
Hi there. I know it's been a crazy couple of weeks, and I understand several important holidays were missed during it. One of them was the most important holiday in the Equestrian calendar, it's called Hearth's Warming Eve and it's about the founding of our country. Telling the story and celebrating it are...a rather integral part of pony society [unless you're Starlight, he sees you, Starlight] so please, permit me a little traditional indulgence.
[He clears his throat, and thus begins his story]
Once, long ago, the three pony tribes lived in an uneasy peace. They hated one another, but needed to work together in order to survive. The unicorns used their magic to bring forth day and night, the pegasi controlled the weather, and the earth ponies grew crops. Each did their unique tasks, but hated that they had to rely on the other tribes. Mistrust festered and grew.
One day, the weather changed. A blizzard overtook the land, covering it in a thick blanket of snow and ice. Neither the pegasi nor the unicorns could control the weather, and the earth ponies couldn't grow food, so all three tribes were starving. They blamed each other for their predicament, and as their anger grew, so did the storm.
[Now comes the part where, if Sunburst were a better storyteller, he'd do voices for each of the characters. But he's not- so you're stuck with boring history professor tones instead.]
It was decided that they needed to hold a grand summit, to try and figure out a way to deal with the problem. Each tribe sent their leaders to hold parlay. The unicorn tribe sent Princess Platinum, the pegasi tribe sent Commander Hurricane, and the earth pony tribe sent Chancellor Puddinghead. I know, pony names are weird, let's not get into that now. Commander Hurricane was certain the earth ponies were keeping the food to themselves, Chancellor Puddinghead admitted that they were, but on account of the pegasi creating the blizzard. Hurricane denied it, shifting the blame of the blizzard onto the unicorns, which Platinum in turn denied. The summit soon turned to name calling and threats, and the blizzard raged more as the parlay broke down.
The leaders decided to go in search of a new land, separately. With them, they each took a steward- Platinum took Clover the Clever, Hurricane took Private Pansy and Puddinghead took Smart Cookie. It was a long journey, the leaders being their obnoxious selves, while their stewards all believed a peace would have been the better choice. Separately, and by some stroke of luck, they all came across a new land at the same time- untouched by the blizzard. Each tribe tried to claim it for their own, and once against the fighting started- and once again, the blizzard reappeared.
All the ponies were forced to seek shelter in a cave. The leaders continued to fight- and the blizzard started to form inside the cave. It blocked off the entrance in a thick sheet of ice, and soon started doing the same to the still squabbling leaders. Their three leaders encased in ice, Clover, Pansy and Cookie came closer together for warmth. Clover recognised what was causing the blizzard- Windigoes- winter spirits, who thrive on dissent and anger. They were feeding on the tribe's hatred of one another, and creating the blizzards in their wake.
The three stewards admitted they didn't hate one another- and started to bond. As they did, Clover unwitting set off a spell- a mighty flaming heart, the Fire of Friendship. This drove the Windigoes back, and as the night wore on, and the three ponies bonded- singing songs, telling stories, getting to know one another, the ice and snow melted away. The leaders, too were eventually freed. Realising they were stronger together, the tribes joined together in unity, naming their new, joint home Equestria.
And so, every year, ponies get together to celebrate the night- Hearth's Warming Eve, to celebrate unity and togetherness. We retell the story, have good food, and put little Hearth's Warming dolls on our fireplaces. It's a time to be with your friends and family, the ones that matter to you most- to keep the Fire of Friendship - metaphorically, burning. And you...you know, stave off the land becoming a desolate frozen wasteland again.
Anyway. Thanks for listening. If anyone would like to celebrate a late Hearth's Warming with me, I have a little table with Equestrian treats I'm...fairly certain are safe for non-pony consumption in the first floor tea room. I'd love to have you.
[Please celebrate the Horse Holiday with him, the only other pony in the mansion doesn't like it. He can, indeed, be found in the tea room, a table stocked with various fruit pies, and some unique-to-Equestria treats. More importantly, this room has a hearth, upon which a little crocheted doll that looks a little like Sunburst sits. Incidentally, close CR of Sunburst will find a little crocheted doll of themselves waiting outside their room for them. They're kinda lumpy and not the prettiest things. Humans are really hard to make into Hearth's Warming dolls, okay. He did his best.]

Totally assuming Wendy got a doll, just saying
At the door she finds a small doll with red hair. It only makes her happier, and she heads for the tea room, bursting in the door all lights and sparkle and glitter covered package with a little blue fabric "cape" attached to it. Inside is several books, including a notebook, a survivalist's handbook, and a book on magic that may be the real thing, she's not sure.]
Merry Hearth Warming Mas!
[For Sunburst she is willing to go all out and celebrate. All for good friends.]
she ABSOLUTELY got a doll
That's...well, it's not as bad as Kokichi's costume. At least you don't have a flame thrower.
[There's a little gift for HER, too. It's a book, unsurprisingly. One about wilderness survival. He tries, ok.]
Happy Hearth's Warming ...mas, Wendy. Thanks for coming.

[Because she can see it. She really can.
Grinning though as she sets down his gifts, pausing to look around.]
I'm so glad you're celebrating this. It's awesome that it's a thing, you know? And we can have all of the these things here.

[Kokichi is the God King of making things worse, after all.]
Yeah, it's very important to Equestrians. It would feel really weird to not celebrate it. Even if it's not the right date. It's nice, being able to introduce it to you all, and that I can learn about the holidays in other worlds.
[He likes teaching, he likes learning, knowledge (and the distribution of it) is his special talent after all. ]

[She isn't getting rid of it, but she can change.]
But I know how that is, my family's holidays? They're nothing like other people. I mean, I knew how Christmas was celebrated but that wasn't how we did it. So it's cool you're sharing.
no subject
[NOT AS BAD AS KOKICHI'S FUCKING HORSE HEAD.]
No? How did you guys celebrate? And it's okay. Sharing is a big part of Hearth's Warming. It would be remiss if I didn't.

It's helped me a lot here. [She is glad for her dad teaching her those things because it did really help with events.]

[But then, being outside for any length of time is pretty much hell on Earth for Sunburst.]
That...is true. I guess if you learn to prepare for anything, you deal with Wonderland a lot better than most.

[Depsite the dangers she speaks of, Wendy sounds excited, certainly nostalgic as she thinks about those holidays she's missed for two years now.
She gives a nod then.]
I thinks so. I try and handle it all. Reminds me of home, at least.

[He sounds niether convinced nor convincing. No thanks. He'll stay inside where it's safe and dry, thanks very much.]
Well, I'm glad the chaos gives you something good out of it. About time it did that for someone here.
no subject
[And one of the things she misses here.]
Some talk about it offering them a life. I guess I can see that.

[He would rather die in the frozen wasteland than spend time with his mother, but he guesses that's not the case for most people. ]
Hmm. Not a bad thought. There's merit there.
