+ Chalk it to me! +
Alice, who is a little tired of all the boringness of winter, and not feeling particularly confident in her abilities as royal adviser, will decide on March 14th that she needs to take a break and will try to get everyone to welcome spring with her the best way she knows how - with coloring! Or more specifically, with chalk! Magic chalk!
As of the 14th, all of the snow will vanish and it will abrupt become Springtime in Wonderland. Everyone will receive a small basket full of paper grass and assorted colors of chalk with a note from Alice. All of the chalk seems to be particularly glittery (from the magic, naturally), and it can be used on nearly anything - pavement, chalkboard, walls, the air, each other, etc. Alice’s intention is to get people to come outside and color with her on the paths, but your character very well might have other plans, since the chalk has many potential uses:
There’s just one tiny catch to all of this fun - Alice will be inviting the Mirrors to come over and play as well. They will each receive their own basket and invitation and the glass will be removed temporarily on the 14th. The glass being removed means that Mirrors and Reals will be able to be on the same side of the glass at the same time without either of them swapping. This also means that people can go over to Mirror Side, however, the chalk will not work on that side of the glass. Its magical properties only work on Real Side and anything that has been created or brought to life by chalk will fall apart going through the frames of the mirrors, so if you’re going to be utilizing the chalk in any way, Real Side is where you want to be.
There will be a mingle log but it will be specifically for people joining Alice to color outside. For anything else, you can and should make posts and logs. Don’t forget that Mirror Side network posts go in
mirrorside and logs for either side go in
entrancelogs as long as you label clearly which side it’s taking place on. You can also use one thread from a Mirror Character in your AC, so definitely bust out your Mirrors and come play!
So come plot with us! Please feel free to use this post for figuring out what your characters will be doing and establishing Mirror things as needed. There will also be a FAQ thread as always, for all your question and answer needs.
Have fun, and come welcome Spring to Wonderland with Alice! ♥

- Anything drawn with the chalk can come to life. If you draw a monster, a monster will come to life and start attacking people! If you draw an owl with a cat face that cat-faced owl will fly right off the pavement. Any person or creature you draw will come to life, with the caveat that they will be made entirely out of chalk. They will leave behind chalk dust everywhere they go and will likely not cause much damage - and if they do, a little water will wash them away.
- Any landscapes drawn can be jumped into (or fallen into) a la Mary Poppins. The entire scene will have a chalk-drawn aesthetic, but everything in it will move and react to whoever’s jumped inside. The scenes won’t loop the way scenes other events have - if the landscapes had any people or creatures in them they will just suddenly become all about these delightful people who just fell in. They will be very curious about these visitors and will cater to what they want. This will even happen to some degree if someone’s drawn a dangerous landscape - the scene would go out of its way to protect you from chalk warfare, for example. If they need to be rescued from the scene, someone outside of it will have to wash it away (or if they happen to have water on them they could destroy it from the inside).
- Characters can draw on or around themselves and give themselves new items and features! Have you always wanted functional fairy wings? A tail? Dinosaur legs? Robot arms? Now’s the time! If you draw on yourself you can change your look completely if you want to, including costumes and accessories. Just keep in mind that everything is made of chalk - nothing will be very sharp or dangerous and if you draw yourself clothing you might want to wear something underneath, because it will wash away when exposed to water. Make sure you have ooc permission before you change someone else's look!

One: Is Alice gonna be around to talk during the event?
Two: What happens if you try to draw a person from your character's canon or someone from Wonderland (with OOC permission of course)?

2. You can definitely draw people and people will come to life! However how accurate they are will depend on artistic ability to some degree. Intent will matter at least a little bit, but they will come to life exactly as drawn so if they don't look like a double they might be a little...off.

Say your character's mirror goes to the real side and posts to the network. Would that message go to the real network or the mirror network?

1. do the chalk constructs make noise/speak?
2. does the chalk come in neon asking for a friend
3. can you draw a bucket of water and would that work to wash stuff away?
no subject
2. Good question! Everyone will get a definitely not name brand pack comparable to this - there are definitely bright colors in there, but calling them neon is probably a little generous.
3. Nope! All chalk things are still made of chalk ultimately, so if you drew a hand-drawn bucket of water at something it would basically be like throwing more chalk at it

It would make me very happy.

2. When someone is inside a drawing, can they be seen from the outside? And heard? For that matter, can they see/communicate out?
3. Can you bring chalk into a chalk drawing? (Insert chalkception joke here, it's late.)
no subject
2. They can be seen from the outside, but they can't actually see outside. For someone looking at the drawing, it would just look like someone drew their friend into the picture, which is probably highly suspicious if they've been missing. Someone inside the drawing would only see the chalk scenery around them.
3. Sure! Then you could directly alter things inside the chalk picture while you're inside it.

(which, by the way - we will have a simple mechanic for getting people out at the end of the end of the event if no one else does)

I have nothing nefarious planned, I'm just curious :>

I actually think this would be okay to a certain degree, because it's only really useful for the specific things happening in this event and the powers that it does have aren't terribly destructive. Like, for example, if people started trying the chalk dust challenge and eating it or something, it wouldn't do anything in particular (and might make it a bad potion ingredient in general by that logic) and you wouldn't be able to just blow it on something and have it come to life either. The chalk really only works if you're using it to very deliberately create art.
That being said, someone could probably make Chalk Paint out of it if they really wanted to - on the condition that all chalk paint will come out as washable paint no matter what is done to it. Though, since the chalk can also draw on people and other unusual surfaces that might wind up being a little redundant, unless you just really really would rather paint and not get chalk dust on your fingers.
I know you have "nothing nefarious planned" but did you have something else in mind? I'd be willing to go back and forth on it if you're thinking of something I'm not thinking of.

Wirt, Stan, and their respective Mirrors!
Mirror Wirt has no such qualms and anxieties about it, and will immediately draw a chalk version of his brother Greg to play with, maybe even multiple chalk Gregs that will all run around on their own in varying degrees of Greg-ness and art quality. He'll have a good time with it though, with his entourage of Gregs. Also, since Wirt's last canon update, his Mirror no longer carries his lantern! He's still easily differentiated from Wirt though because he still wears his blue cape all the time (no gnome hat though).
Stan probably won't set out to go color things, but could definitely be dragged by his niblings. He's actually kind of a decent-ish artist! One thing he will definitely do is get one of those chalk signboards to stand outside the Mystery Room, but everything he tries to draw on it will come to life. I haven't decided what just yet, but that would be fun to play with.
Mirror Stan meanwhile, will be sulking. This isn't exactly his idea of a good time and he'll probably look for other more aggressive/darker Mirrors for company because this is definitely not the kind of work they were made for at all (which is an especially sore spot for him since the Queen of Hearts remade him to be better). He hates a lot of this whole new regime and doesn't like that he suddenly doesn't have to have a purpose anymore.
Steven Universe
In a less definite area, I feel that this would be a good chance to finally introduce a Mirror version of Steven, but I'm not sure if I feel ready yet. I have to figure out exactly what I'd be doing there voicewise, and I dunno if I'll get on an account/icons for the character anytime soon. I haven't even settled on the appearance. But my general idea for the mirror involves spoilers from the most recent season of the show and is Steven as if raised on Homeworld. And would also love playing with chalk.
On a final note, I unfortunately will be dropping Kiyotaka Ishimaru by the end of the month. I may try to do a last thread or two if anything catches my eye, but for most part he'll be on autopilot and gone soon.
Sunburst, Grendel and Louis (plus mirrors!)
Gren won't really do a whole lot here, largely do his usual thing of sitting alone and getting drunk, he doesn't want to play with your weird magic chalk, thanks. His Mirror might be found wandering around though- with his creepy stepford smile and chipper attitude.
Louis is a teenage boy so of course the first thing he's gonna draw is a dick of course. So you know, enjoy the trail of badly-drawn dicks down one of the hallways, I guess?? And his Mirror will make his first appearance, who will decidedly not be taking part in any shenanigans and will likely be a grumpy asshole.
Kokichi Oma
Kokichi's mirror is going to make a mistake.
See, he's kind of obviously missing his friends from home (at least he thinks he has friends back where he thinks he's from) and will start drawing a mural of everyone in the real side. However... he gets to one person before he realizes how bad of an idea this is. Now there's a chalk version of a murder mystery otaku running around the mansion. It's a watered down caricature, thankfully, but if you don't want to listen to some badly drawn fanboy rant about how nobody writes locked room mysteries that well you might need a bucket of water.
Souji and Entrapta
This is perfectly timed for Entrapta, who is going to spend most of her time on Mirror Side. Mirror Entrapta, on the other hand, is kind of excited to explore the Real Side. She will color, but she's a little bit shy.
Lapis Lazuli
Mirror Lapis is more open to shenanigans, but I have to make decisions about exactly what she'll be doing. You know what I can say for sure, though, is that she could seriously use some MORE FRIENDS! I think at this point she's even more willing to socialize with other Mirrors than she used to be. Meet her, she's nice~
Eleanor and Soos!
Soos is going to see the chalk as an opportunity to do some much more convincing FCLORPing (aka LARPing). First he'll try and design a world to jump into, only nobody will actually let him fight any ding-dang dragons! Guess he'll have to draw a big one to fight in the real world...
Aaand as far as mirrors, I haven't...actually figured out what their mirrors are like, yet! And therefore they don't have journals. Suggestions on that front are welcome!
