+ Gems are made for one purpose +

The Cheshire Cat announced an event and the Bulletin Board sent you here!

Welcome to Wonderland Colony, the first to be overseen by the illustrious Red Diamond. It may be a little different from the typical colonies of other Diamonds, and the gems serving her are definitely a bit unorthodox, but there's plenty of work to do. Reshaping terrain, building all kinds of structures, setting up for the production of new gems... Oh yeah, and the Mansion is gone, replaced by some more primitive dwellings reminiscent of early humans, so have fun with that. Also enjoy your fancy primitive outfits.

At the start of the event, many characters will be AUed as Gems. Lacking their usual memories, they know only that they were made by Red Diamond to serve her, and have arrived to work on the ongoing colonization in her name. Indeed, some of them might be freshly made just in time for this job. Explaining everything about how Gems work would honestly be too long for this space -- as rocks projecting a fake body around themselves, they do just about everything differently from organic creatures! Notably for now, they have no biological needs, are stronger and far harder to hurt than humans, and come with a whole host of abilities, often superpowers. (Affected characters may be able to keep their existing powers if they make sense or can be adapted, or feel free to give them new ones.)

Socially, Gems are designed to fit specific roles in the well-oiled machine of their society. For the purposes of this event, we are NOT requiring everyone's Gemsonas to be consistent with each other or with Steven Universe canon (that is, feel free to make up five totally different kinds of Ruby) but each gem knows that they're only one among many just like them, serving the purpose common to their type. Were you made to be a soldier, a smith, a scholar, a servant? Whatever it is, it's all you've ever known, and all you're expected to do...pretty much ever. Gems don't need much downtime and aren't encouraged to socialize. Just do your job well and trust your superiors to make the best decisions, and everything ought to be fine.

As for the characters who weren't changed, they retain their regular memories of Wonderland and their lives elsewhere. They will be considered the organic life native to this colony world. Red Diamond is fond of them and would prefer to keep them around as decoration rather than wipe them out, but ultimately they're inferior lifeforms, pets at best and pests at worst. With the comforts of the Mansion gone, these organics may be a bit busy just living the primitive life -- at least the gardens are full of food, right? And directly interfering with the colonization might be pushing their luck, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to try and get through to their altered friends.

Because all things considered, this AU is a little shaky, and by the second or third day, the AUed characters are beginning to remember their true selves. Noticing inconsistencies probably helps, as do familiar things jogging the memory. That's right, they all had lives before this! They have names! These aren't even their real bodies! And why the heck are they trying to colonize Wonderland of all places? In fact, why should they do what some totalitarian alien society tells them to at all? The time has come to shake off the programming and rebel!

The colonization process will surely fall by the wayside, and among all the existential confusion, that's probably not anyone's top concern. Unfortunately, it's still Red Diamond's concern, and Diamonds have no tolerance for underlings who turn against them. On the fourth day, punishment arrives in the form of a burst of sound and red light in the sky. It's a milder blast that's not hard to take shelter from, but you'd better move fast, because any gems who are exposed to this become corrupted monsters.

There is no partial corruption, and there is no available way to reverse it; every character affected by this will spend the rest of the event as a monster. Corrupted gems are mentally on the level of wild animals and can't process their old memories, on top of which they'll likely be confused and scared in the wake of the change, so they can be quite dangerous. Some of them might even show hunting behavior, and they may still use their old abilities in new, instinctual ways. Calming one down would be an uphill battle, and like any wild beast they'll always be a bit erratic. In the chaos of the last day, it might honestly be kinder to poof these poor monsters and let them ride it out unconscious.

Any deaths sustained during the event are considered Mansion deaths. Those people who are AUed as Gems may keep or alter their powers or gain new powers; everyone else retains their powers as normal. There are no network or closets, so be careful for the last couple days of the event!

There will be an open log for this event.

Like always, there is a Q&A thread here for any questions you might have!

It's Lapis

You wanted it you got it

Lapis already has all the gemsona she needs, obviously, but will still be afflicted enough to help out with the colonization until she remembers that that's dumb. So she'll be around to be more or less helpful. I am unlikely to corrupt her, although there's an outside chance depending how things take shape. Please enjoy not being made out of writhing meat, friends!

(Formerly) Steven Quartz Universe

So, as you can imagine, this will be a particularly interesting event for Steven! Normally he's half-human, half-gem. But for this event, he will be AUed into a pure gem. Specifically, Steven will become a rose quartz soldier. And one that really is a rose quartz this time! Like Amethyst in the series, she will be a quartz who did not come out as intended, being much smaller and weaker than other quartz soldiers. This will also result in her coincidentally looking a lot like Steven with Rose's coloration.

I'm not sure what to call this version of Steven, but I'm tentatively thinking "Rosie". She will be pretty much desperate to prove herself as a gem despite her shortcomings, while also having a soft side, a sense of humor, and developing guilt about the colonization as she gets to know the local humans. As the event progresses, she'll likely become part of the rebellion, despite being anxious about any type of conflict. And she'll also begin to remember things and realize how her powers don't match up with a normal quartz soldier, which will likely fuel her initiative to help out with the rebellion. I don't plan on corrupting her, but I'm all for her confronting corrupted CR!
