usskickass: (Let's rewind this DVD...)

[The video flips on early in the morning to display an obviously tired Beiste. She'd awoken in the middle of the night to pee and had been returning to bed when she noticed something wasn't quite right in her room. The feed clearly shows her in a hallway, leaning against a wall.]

You know, this place is gettin' a little fog-happy. I saw some filtering in through the air vent in my room a couple minutes ago. I didn't like the look of it so I just up and left. We should maybe group up so nobody's got their back on this stuff. Can't be too careful, considering people turned to stone last time.

I'm gonna take a look around, see if there's any pattern to when the fog comes out. So far I've only seen it come into my room, but chances are this thing isn't just about confining us to the hallways or outdoors. If anyone wants to help out, I'd appreciate it.

[She can't help but picture the stuff descending suddenly on her head, sucking out her last breath instantaneously. It's not a pretty picture.

Beiste can be found meticulously walking the halls, making mental notes of when and where she sees the fog.]

Where are you right now?
onsilksheets: (mh hm)

Have you noticed a pattern to the fog?

All right. Maybe there won't be one. I haven't looked around much myself yet.
onsilksheets: (well..)

A little further investigation couldn't hurt. Do you need some help with it?

Yeah, I can. I'll take a quick look around and report back to you.

[This being helpful thing was strange to her.]

Be careful.

Don't worry, I will.
libraritology: (Just CALM DOWN.)

[video because it's a rather nice function]

I'm afraid it's doing something similar to migrating, from what I can tell.

[Evelyn isn't wearing a gas mask now, but there's one sitting in her lap. Her room is devoid of the fog.]
libraritology: (And...?)

Something a little less choreographed, perhaps.

[It moves more on a whim than it does with purpose. Evelyn acknowledges the nod.]

And I've spent enough time around victims of chemical warfare to know that we should always assume the worst.
libraritology: (I'm a librarian you know.)

I think so. It's a little difficult to say right now.

[She wishes she had a better grasp on what it does, though.]

Well, that's Wonderland for you. I wouldn't be surprised if the rain was sentient by now.

[SIGH.]

Whether or not it's fair isn't the crux of the issue. I think that on the whole it's far less concerned with our reactions than it is with what it takes from us. Have you noticed that most events seem to be based off of people's memories of things or places?
libraritology: (Remind me never to do that.)

I wish I could figure out how to...how to quantify what the Mansion takes from us, whatever it is. There has to be something.
