[Some women make the mistake of wearing the wrongs shoes with the wrong frock. Some women can't cook worth a damn, or darn socks to save their lives. And some women read from cursed books that bring about apocalypses, having been far too proud to take precautionary measures and heed ancient superstitions.

Seeing Egypt again is all well and good, and Evelyn rather enjoyed the first day of the event exploring the casbah and mingling with the locals, visiting the museum and relishing the arid heat that Wonderland winters so lack.

It's only on the second day that the mirage on the horizon wavers and Hamunaptra appears that she feels a heavy sense of dread.

Not enough to tell everyone precisely what she did in her own world, but enough that she sends out a little public transmission of her own.]

Ah, some of you may have noticed the old ruins to the west of Cairo this morning, and I think it's only prudent to warn you all as an archaeologist-

-that...that dig sites can be very dangerous, and everyone should take care.

"Dig sites can be dangerous" doesn't sound very ominous in its own right, and there was that moment of hesitation. Alex sort of suspects that there might be something else going on here.

He appears on video like a real man. A real man who gives the impression of not being dressed, but rather dressed up. He is only wearing the hat because the sun's kind of blinding otherwise. And believe me when I say the collar's open and the sleeves are up. It's probably scandalous for the setting or whatever but the alternative is boiling alive. ]

[Eleanor's spent most of the first day just looking for water. A girl who grew up IN the ocean isn't adjusting too well to the desert. The sun isn't fun anymore and even wrapped up in rags as haphazardly as she is, with only her eyes exposed at all, she's been tempted to just go into those ruins just for a place to escape the heat and dryness. And SAND, don't even get her started on sand. Wet sand's one thing, but this, good lord. She resists the temptation to inquire just why someone would willingly subject themselves to this, let alone live in such a place by choice. Irony is not something that's lost on her.]

The market seems rather dangerous too if you look like a "shifty little orphan thief".
