...You didn't really think it was going to be that easy, did you?

If you're a stalker one of those people who likes tracking developments through character posts in the network, you might have caught wind of the plan to coerce a happy event out of the Mansion by force-feeding pleasant memories down its throat-- hence, the appearance of Twilight Town for the first half of the week.

But oh, the Mansion won't like that.

During June 5th to June 8th, entranceway is going to try something different: a memory swapping event. What exactly will that involve?

Well, it means that during that time, your character is going to get to experience someone else's memory as if it were their own; in fact, more than that, they'll be convinced it was their own, even if everything they know contradicts it. Let's have a simple example:

Character A has a memory of Character B killing his sister.
Because of the event, Character C ends up having Character A's memory.
Now Character C is convinced that Character B has killed his sister, and has a memory of it... even if he doesn't actually have a sister, and even if he's never met Character B. See where it gets complicated?
On top of this, for the duration of the event, Character A will have no recollection of Character B killing his sister!

Naturally, characters can have doubts about their newfound life-changing experiences, and some memories will just be too strange to add up with what they already know, but at least for the moment they wake up, they'll be completely convinced it's their own memory. It can feel like something they've forgotten, and then suddenly remembered, or they might not change anything at all about their behavior, at least not to start with. Of course, the effect isn't going to be immediately obvious in a lot of cases; it's a bit more subtle than, say, a body swap event.

After the event, characters will have their memories returned to them. So don't worry, you won't end up with gaping holes in your mind.

This is because the choice of who gets what memory will be assigned by the moderators, in the usual random fashion, and you have until 3 PM, June 4 (EST) to sign up. :1 ♥

It's worse than defeat itself.
You stagger forwards, reach for Kingdom Hearts, and beg to know where your own is, before your strength gives out and you fade from existence.

Memory Swapped: Being bitten by a werewolf. I sort of wrote it out here (http://oncein-bluemoon.livejournal.com/19223.html), but I'm happy to elaborate. It's never explained in the book, so it's, you know, my personal canon and whatever. But the biggest thing, other than, "Oh my god I'm a werewolf" is just how much this has alienated Remus from everything around him. He's been worried that people won't accept him for what he is (and with good reason, considering some of the stuff that happens in canon), especially since werewolves basically want nothing to do with humans as they "aren't human." This is pretty much the vital point of his characterization - it's where all of his reservations and shyness comes from. The fact he got into Hogwarts was this big deal, and in some ways he felt that if he broke too many rules they make take away his opportunity, or worse, he'd prove that he wasn't grateful for what he had been given.

Memory Swapped: Oh, hell. Patchouli's memory to be exchanged is a memory of her parents dying in her youth (did they? Did she even have parents? Touhou has loose history. BUT. For the purposes of this. Parents, they die.) The identity of the killer is unknown, but you do see them die. And they're stabbed to death, if that means anything. Regardless, this shocks Patchouli horribly. It made her want to avoid everyone, because this basically just adds up to a gigantic distrust of everyone... somewhat built up from other things. People affected by this will likely end up locked up, too, from a distrust of others. It should also be noted that the killer was clearly male, which probably instills MORE distrust in the less rational!

Though he was too young to remember it, his father and brother Dean have told him that she had been cut across the abdomen, dragged onto the ceiling, and left to hang there until the ceiling suddenly caught fire and consumed her body.

When he was 22, Sam began having disturbing dreams about his girlfriend Jessica suffering the same fate. Since he planned to marry her, he was obviously distressed, but said nothing about his dreams because he didn't want her to know that he was anything but normal. When Dean appeared and asked for his help in finding their missing father, Sam was forced to leave Jess alone for the weekend. Upon his return to the apartment they shared, he laid back in bed and saw Jessica pinned to the ceiling. He could do nothing but stare in horror as the ceiling and eventually the entire apartment went up in flames. Dean managed to drag him out, and it was this event that sparked a guilt-ridden road trip for revenge against the demon responsible.

WHO WANTS TO BE A COUNTRY FOR A DAY?

WIKI EXPLANATION: On the Sunday, striking workers and their families gathered at six points in the city of St. Petersburg. They were organized and led by Father Gapon. Clutching religious icons and singing hymns and patriotic songs (particularly "God save the Tsar"), a crowd of about 200,000, led by Father Gapon proceeded towards the Winter Palace, the Tsar's official residence, without police interference. The demonstrators brought along their families in hope of seeing their Tsar and delivering the petition to him as they believed he would take into account their miseries and attempt to sort their problems for them. They believed it would be a peaceful and patriotic day during which they could pass on their petition to the Tsar. The army pickets near the palace released warning shots, and then fired directly into the crowds to disperse them. Gapon was fired upon near the Narva Gate. Around forty people surrounding him were killed, but he was not injured. Although the Tsar had not been present at the Winter Palace at this time, he received the blame for the deaths, resulting in a surge of bitterness towards himself and his autocratic rule from the Russian people.

WHAT THIS MEANS IN HETALIA-LAND: This is the moment where Russia loses his goddamn mind. After centuries of bloody revolutions, wars, and death, this is just where he CRACKS and become the yandere bastard you know and love.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR CHARACTER: First of all, you're going to be hurting immensely both physically and emotionally. You're in the mind and body of a country; every shot you take is going to feel like a pinprick in your heart (since lol I GUESS THAT'S WHERE LENINGRAD IS idk watch me bullshit country-to-human anatomy). Your people--let me highlight this: your people, the people you love, who define who you are, and are your very essence of EXISTENCE--are dying and pretty much hate you. You're beyond the point of depression, self-loathing, frustration, and anger.

You've just bought yourself a one-way ticket to INSANITY LAND. Welcome aboard. You'll start feeling a sense of sick satisfaction and happiness every time someone is killed. You're slowly convincing yourself that this is all for the greater good. You can't stop smiling. Reality is taking a backseat to corrupt politics. (You might also be starting to plan the same fate for the Tsar OSNAP FORSHADOWINGGGGG please feel free to hate on Nicholas II he lost the war against Japan, he's a douchebag).

By the end of it, you're just going to want to roll into a ball and cry your eyes out. You'll also desperately want the company of Lithuania (the boy in the comic talking to Russia). But since he's not here anymore, YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN. Also feel free to smile like a crazy motherfucker.

Memory Swapped: Aang, on a trip with Zuko to an abandoned Fire Nation ruin, finds a set of statues surrounding a golden egg, indicating the motions of a kata. He gets Zuko to perform the kata - also known as the Dancing Dragons - with him, pleased at the time that his once-enemy really is turning out to be a pretty good friend.

Of course, as soon as they lift the golden egg off its pedestal, the room floods with sticky green slime. Our heroes float up to the grate at the top of the room, hopelessly encased in immovable slime, and are about to be drowned by the overflowing muck when . . . it stops. Aang and Zuko are trapped, faces pressed against the grate, for hours upon hours, until long after it's dark out.

What follows are hours of awkward silence. Aang tries to play "I spy" a few times, but since all he can see are clouds (and later, stars!) the game gets . . . repetitive. Occasionally, Zuko says a proverb that makes no sense, and all over gives the impression of someone trying to be deep and having no idea how to do it right - almost as if he's spent his whole life listening to someone very wise, and is now failing at emulating them in their absence.

The hours of being trapped in goo become very uncomfortable very quickly, and one can only meditate for so long, but in the end, those hours of forced, awkward conversation really helped Aang settle on how he was feeling about his new friend, and whether or not Zuko's recent heelface turn was genuine.

If the trial were today, you'd be ensured a quick victory with this evidence. You feel elated, but you know you have to be careful. So you call your sister Maya and ask her to hold onto something for you, as you've done in the past. You can't risk the evidence going to the wrong person. You think it's all taken care of; you're too calm, getting too complacent about this. The guy involved isn't above murder to cover things up and you know it, but you're so sure you've got him cornered. And then Redd White walks in the door and you realize that you were stupid. You weren't careful enough. You think maybe he'll leave you alone... and then he says you'll be keeping eternal silence and you know this is the end. Fear for yourself and your sister, worry, pain, exhaustion... it's all right there as the guy uses the statue-clock you hid the evidence in to bash you upside the head. You remember dying under the window of your office, your little sister crying as she kneels on the floor next to you.

Your parents made you promises not to go exploring back there, because there were to many sharp things, tetanus and stuff.

But you kept pestering your father that you wanted to explore it. So one day you put on warm clothes and went for a walk. After about twenty minutes you went down a hill to the bottom of a gully, and you father said suddenly "Run away! Up the Hill. Now!" He said it in a tight sort of way, urgently, so you did. Something hurt you on the back of your arm as you ran, but you kept running.

When you reaches the top of the hill, you heard you dad charging up behind you like a rhino, he scooped you up in his arms and swept you over the edge of the hill, and puffed and panted.

Down in the gully the air was alive with yellow wasps. You realized your father stayed to get stung while you were running, to give you time to run away. His glasses had fallen off when he ran, and you only for one sting, on the back of your arm. He had 39.

So later that afternoon, you dad went back to the wasteland to get his glasses back, and soon he came back, wearing them. He said he wasn't scared when he was standing there and the wasps were stinging him and hurting him and he was watching you run away, because he had to give you enough time, or the wasps would have hurt you.

And he said it wasn't brave of him, standing there and being stung, it wasn't brave because he wasn't scared: it was the only thing he could do. But going back when he knew the wasps were there, when he was really scared...That was brave. You remember will always remember this when you're scared, but you still do something anyway...that's true bravery.
