throughthedark: Giles, nearly tearing his hair out with frustration (Can't deal right now)

001 - [Action]

[Beach]
[The soft sloshing of the waves up and down the shoreline is really quite soothing. Therefore, it takes Giles a while before he drifts back into consciousness.

Eventually, however, he realizes that where he fell asleep was a long, long way from the ocean. His mind starts processing information a lot more quickly, after that. He holds out a brief hope that someone in the house just picked up an irritating habit for meditative CDs, until finally he properly processes the fact that he's not in any bed, chair, or table, and he happens to be outside.

At which point, anyone around the boats on the docks might witness a young boy come tumbling out of the boats with a startled gasp. Giles scrambles back to his feet, looking around, eyes wide and body tensed to run at the first sign of threat, or as soon as he has the faintest idea of where to run to.

Eventually, however, especially after a little bit to look around, or talk to some people, Giles settles down fractionally. More than anything he looks...resigned, and a little sad.]

...I suppose it's a good thing I told Angel not to contact her.

[Gardens]
[His exploration of this strange new land is now augmented with a broken tree branch, in case something somewhere decides to try and kill him. The place doesn't look dangerous, but Giles knows all too well that looks can be deceiving.

Fortunately, being a child suddenly has some advantages. One of which is that he's a lot better at climbing than he used to be. Giles uses the apparent peace to not only poke around, but finally get some practice in his new body. He might be spotted climbing on top of hedges to get a look around, or up into trees to take a break and gather his thoughts. Always with the tree branch in hand, though, and he occupies himself stripping off stray twigs or strips of bark. Really, it's almost fun, hopping the gaps between maze walls or pacing the lip of the fountain.

The fruit in the trees or growing in the greenhouse receives some thoughtful consideration, but Giles tries to restrain himself. He's hungry, but eating fruit in strange trees and unknown places tends to do bad things to the mind.

He wants to go home, after all.]

[Hallways]
[By now, Giles probably has a pretty good idea of where he is and what's going on. Even if he doesn't, well...it makes sense to have a home base, of sorts, when trying to come up with any sort of plan. If nothing else, he's not sure he wants to be outside at night.

So Giles can be found pacing the hallways where the bedrooms lie. He's trying to get a sense of which are occupied and which aren't, whether it be peering under the door, listening for signs of life, or occasionally knocking if he's really not sure. He might get side tracked along the way, especially if the door to the local business or the room holding the horse are left open.

Eventually, however, he'll take a room for himself a couple of floors up, and maybe try out the closet. If nothing else, he needs something to take notes with.]

::At some point in the gardens, he'll find Ed working on getting an apple or two from a tree. It's more fun to get it himself than have the dining room or a closet give it to him.

Ed is paying enough attention to his surroundings to hear him though and looks over.::

Oh hi. New arrival or just haven't run into each other yet?

::Ed takes a moment to think about the timing.::

Huh. Guess it's that time again. That being when new people pop out of the woodwork.

::Ed looks at the tree and jumps up to snag an apple, repeating it a moment later.::

Want one? And any particular reason you're hauling around a branch?

[Kid is on the way up to the bar with another "shipment" of his world's booze. He's got a basket full of bottles hanging from the crook of his arm and he's humming quietly to himself when he sees the boy. It's a new face, but that could just mean that Kid has never seen him before. Still, the boy is pacing and looking lost and a bit nervous, so.]

Yer gonna wear a hole in th' floor, kid.

[Wow it feels strange to call someone else "kid."]

[Harry's on his way back to his room after a little side trip to the kitchens when he notices Giles pacing about, looking under the doors, and knocking on said doors. It's rather curious behavior, and he can't recall if he's ever seen him before, so he clears his throat and asks:]

Er, are you looking for something? Or someone?

::Ed takes a bite from one of his apples and nods.::

If I hadn't been distracted by a couple of people, I probably would have had about the same reaction. I've been here for... I think a couple of months?

::Okay, the bit about the apocalypse gets some blinking before Ed drags his brain onto the next thing.::

If there's a way to get out on our own, no one's figured it out. Although since my brother is here, it's not as bad as it could be.

::A look of annoyance crosses his face.::

Aside from the no aging thing I've found out about by someone that's been here for a couple years.

::Ed raises an eyebrow as he takes another bite of his apple.::

Wanna fill me in?
seekinghome: (Ummm)

::Ed blinks again.::

That's a new theory. Most people seem to blame the Queen of Hearts, who's on the other side of the mirrors.

::Ed shrugs.::

No one from this side have seen her. Only the mirror versions of us, so far as we know.

They've got inverted personalities of us. They may share some traits, but the personalities I mentioned? Yeah. My Mirror and my brother's are best avoided because they're jerks and his tried to kill mine when I got stuck on the other side for awhile.

I did meet one that seemed nice enough though, so they aren't all jackasses.

::Ed's gonna be eating more of his apple now.::

And yeah, it includes you. He's probably over on the Mirror Side watching people through the mirrors or something.
seekinghome: (Default)

And of course, *now* I find a typo. Oh well.

::Ed finishes his apple and chucks the core off towards some bushes.::

They usually stay over on the other side of the mirrors. Covering the mirrors in a room you're in keeps them from seeing what you're doing, smashing the mirror keeps them from seeing or hearing anything. The mirrors do repair themselves eventually though.

[He knows that look and stifles a sign. People always seem to think he's younger than he is, even with the damn hair. This kid, well, doesn't talk like a kid, to make an understatement.]

Uh...wasn't too worried ya were. Much better ways 'f doing that than pacin', anyway. [He gives the boy a searching look.] Ya look lost.

Ah, I see. Well, tha's easily rem'died. You kin pretty much jus' pick any room, so long's it free. Door's usually locked 'f it's taken. An' yer right, they ain't a way outta here yet.
