[The background behind Balthazar is bright and sunny, casting him mostly into silhouette, but the sun lights up his hair like a poor man's halo. Somewhere nearby, there's a bird chirping, so presumably he's in the gardens, rather than in front of a window.]
All right, I have a question. Has anyone here tried to garden, or have a windowbox, or anything of the kind? I have a couple indoor plants, but that's not really enough. I'd love to grow vegetables, at least. [What he actually wants is grape vines, but he's not sure anyone else would understand. Maybe he's a touch homesick.]
...I know, I know, why bother when everything we want comes out of the closets? But that's the problem. There's nothing about that requires effort, except when something's trying to kill us. Surely that's not healthy.
