I commend those who have revealed their secrets, but you must realize that might not be an option for everyone. Some secrets are darker, or more potentially disastrous, than others. I will not reveal my own secret. It is personal and, really, of no concern to anyone here.

On the other hand, I will not be manipulated into killing those who have never wronged me. If my secret is revealed by Wonderland, then so be it. I will deal with any consequences, as they come. I doubt anyone else's secret will make much difference to me.

You make a good point, Maule-san, logistically speaking. However, the darkness of a secret is relative. I don't think any one can be weighed against that of another.

No, you're right. Secrets are relative and subjective. It says something about us, doesn't it, what we choose to bury in our hearts?

[He shakes his head.] I'm not easily coerced, though I appreciate your acceptance of my decision. It's not that simple, though. Truthfully, I won't reveal my secret, partly because that might be Wonderland's goal.

I hope it was of comfort to you. This situation worries me. It seems designed to set us against each other and I have to wonder what Wonderland gains, or prevents, by doing that.

Most people would do a lot to protect their secrets. Especially one of a personal flavor.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Most people have secrets of some sort, even if it's only mundane things. Very few, I hope, would be willing to kill for them.

[He laughs.] I do wonder how you are interpreting "personal." I won't tell you the secret, but I will give you some hints. My secret does not involve me committing any crime or doing anything of an immoral nature. It is a secret kept for convenience and because some people would disapprove and possibly cause me trouble.

But I wasn't asking for your secret, just some reassurance you won't be one of the ones I have to get all hairy eyeball with.
