[ There's a young man shuffling around outside, presumably talking to himself since he has no idea the recorder is on. His hair and clothes are disheveled, only carrying with him a small candle whose flame flickers in the darkness. His tone of voice is meek, exhausted, and slightly confused. ]

These weren't here before. It's changed.

And which way did I come from? I don't remember. I could have come from either path.

[ He blankly stares at Kid. ]

Wonderland? There..was a story about Wonderland. I remember it.

Yeah. Ya been transferred here, kinna. All'a us got snatched from our home worl's and ended up 'ere. Ya musta jus' arrived.

Then it is a dream. Multiple worlds are highly unlikely.

[ but so are floating candles and beds attacking him, but those things happened.. ]

..I'm grateful for this brief rest that isn't filled with terror and looming danger.

Thought so too, till I landed 'ere.

[He considers the other guy for a moment and decides not to tell him about the events just yet.] Yeah. S'peaceful 'round 'ere most th' time.

...Wha's yer name? I'm Kid.

[ He barely responds to anything Kid says. ]

I do still hear them, but..the situation isn't serious. If I ignore them, they'll go away.

[ His name? Time to dodge the question! ]

...Alrigh', then.

...Lissen, how 'bout I show ya where th' rooms are? Ya could probably stand t'sleep all this off.

[ He nods in agreement. A room. A bed, nice. He's exhausted, and though he rarely sleeps, lying down is always comforting. ]

[He gestures for the Lodger to follow and leads him into the mansion, then on up to the rooms.]

Ya can basically pick any room what ain't occupied an' it'll become yer own room 's long 's yer here. Real customizable, too.

[ He blinks, a confused expression on his face. ]

But whose home is it? I would hate to intrude.

'S ever'ones. The room ya choose 's your room. Belongs to ya, yeah? 'S like an' inn, 'cept more permanent-like. Ya can lock th' doors an' everythin'.

[ Hn. Okay. He warily follows Kid into the Mansion, walking along on old, slightly mud-stained slippers. Eventually he peeks into what looks like an empty room on the first floor. The room accommodates itself to him when he steps inside, shifting to an exact replica of his dingy and worn out bedroom. There are scratches all over the wallpaper. ]

This is my home. I must be asleep.

Nah, yer awake. [He looks around the guy's room, appraising. Definitely not the worst he's ever seen.] Th' rooms jus' change t'suit ya.

How do you know?

[ He questions softly. The Lodger scurries off to the corner of the room, where a single wood stove burns away under a tea kettle. The kettle is full and warm, steaming. ]

..I didn't leave this on. I'm sure I didn't.

[ Honestly, Kid, he's just going to talk on and on. ]

Cause I know I'm awake an' not a dream.

[He's starting to think it's time to let this fella be on his way.] Anythin' ya wanna know? Questions? Kin do my best t'answer.

Can you prove it?

...Ya could pinch yerself.

[ Would that work? ]

I could still pinch myself if it was a dream.

Could take a dunk in cold water, 'nstead.

[ Hmm. His expression is thoughtful. Maybe that would work. Could it really be that simple? ]

Where would I get it?

[He looks around.] Ya should 'ave a bathroom 'round 'ere, wi' runnin' water an' all.
