As you probably noticed, the Cheshire Cat just announced an event, and I realize that there might be some questions about certain aspects of it. So in addition to being a plotting post, I'll use this space to explain some potentially confusing parts of the event.

First, the branch of sin: this is the power that all Deadmen have to weaponize their blood. Having your character manifest a branch of sin is voluntary and is primarly there to make things a bit fairer and to help those characters who don't know how to fight and/or have no powers to help them get a piece of candy.

There are two important things to consider when choosing a branch of sin for your character:

1) Each branch of sin is unique; there aren't duplicate manifestations. So if one character's branch of sin allows him to be able to shoot bullets made of blood, no other character would be able to reproduce this power. No one will be penalized in the event for duplicating--this is just to urge you to be creative!
2) More importantly, a branch of sin can only manifest in one form. So if you decide to give your character the power to turn her blood into a whip, she can't turn around and use it as a shield later on. That being said, the power can still be versatile, so again, be creative!

For some ideas, here are some examples of different branches of sin.

While obtaining candy requires that one win a fight, there is no limit on the number of pieces of candy one can get. That is, for every win, a character will get a piece of candy. What they do with this candy is up to them--they can share it, hoarde it, or sell it. Totally your call.

This will allow for some characters who, even with the addition of a branch of sin, might not be able or willing to fight. For instance, if Yukino is too chicken or too inexperienced to win a fight, she might ask her friend Gokudera to do it for her, and he can give the candy he wins to her.

Finally, if characters try to fake a fight because they don't want to hurt each other, the Cheshire Cat will know. He knows everything. And cheaters don't get candy. >(

Hi hi, questions. Again. XD

1 - Are we handwaving the Cheshire Cat appearing and awarding the victor candy? Or is that played out somehow?

2 - What are the symptoms if someone doesn't consume any candy?

3 - Do these fights have to be agreed upon and mutual, or do sneak attacks and winning count too?

4 - Fights that end up with someone dead also count as a Mansion death, I would think?

Poland: He's not about to kill anyone over this, but if knocking them out or forcing them to surrender counts, well... He's got a strong will to live and Liet would worry if he let himself die, so he's got to fight and win at least once. If he's allowed to fight with someone, it's likely that he and Liet will want to fight as a team--Liet's fussed at him for getting into fights on his own before. As for a branch of sin, his is a lance.

The Medicine Seller: No branch of sin. He's very, very quick and good with fighting, especially defensively; he'll be likely to disengage if attacked, though, because his powers only work against supernatural creatures, and killing humans isn't really his thing. That said, he's died twice, and isn't looking to die again any time soon--any supernatural entities around for him to pick fights with?

Burt: Thoughts on a branch of sin, anyone? Burt isn't really a fighter, but... honestly, what's most likely to happen is that he'll fight as many attackers as he has to until he wins one and give the candy to someone (most likely Kurt, or if Kurt's set already, somebody else that he doesn't want to have to fight), then die himself. He can play rough, but I have a hard time seeing him hurting anyone for his own sake.

hurricanebomber He's got no branch of sin, and he'll do what he needs to to survive, but not at the expense of the people close to him. If he ends up with extra candy somehow, though, he'll give it to people who need it.

kyokugen_sun No branch of sin, and he won't kill people, but considering how much he loves to fight, if you seem at all willing to fight back, he won't hesitate to engage you. He'll also share his candy, though, possibly with someone he just beat in a fight. :||||

second_first She'll have a branch of sin that mimics her AT Field--that is, it's in the form of a shield, but the edges are sharp so it can be used as a weapon if necessary. She'll avoid engaging anyone, but if the opportunity presents itself, she won't hesitate.

Yukino: WILL NOT BE NEEDING GOKUDERA'S HELP, THANKS. I have to say though, while she won't be too happy about having to fight other people in the mansion, she'll really enjoy the fact that she can actually fight for herself with her shiny new Branch of Sin. I'm still trying to decide what her Branch of Sin should be, exactly. I'm thinking maybe some kind of hammer or slingshot. A blood trebuchet miiight be a bit much. She won't actively seek out a fight (unless it gets really late in the event and she needs to beat someone in the face to survive), but if attacked she will attempt to kick some ass.

Kurt: will be coordinating his fashion choices around his new collar. He'll have a Branch of Sin as well - sai swords, because Chris Colfer is secretly a ninja (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZl1QBOW5X0). He...will be reluctant about all of this. Very much so. But if he has to, he might fight, if only because the whole "holding out until the end of the event" thing went really, really badly with the vampire event. But Kurt isn't exactly known for his physical prowess, so it's not guaranteed to go well.

James: IS HERE NOW and not pleased by this one bit. He's the most likely of the three to go pick a fight for candy though, if he absolutely has to. He'll be likely to go after someone shady or suspicious in nature - you know, the type of person who looks like they would willingly choose to work for an evil wizard, hypothetically speaking. He won't need a Branch of Sin though - he's just going to duel with his wand. Being all noble and such, he'll offer to fight to get others some candy too. ♥

Brennan: She's too smart for her own damn good, especially in this sort of situation. She'll know this is an event, and just like the vampire event she'll try to wait it out. She will not pick a fight with anyone. She will only defend herself. That being said, she will have a branch of sin to discover if anyone attacks her. It'll manifest as hundreds or even thousands of airborne needles that'll fly at her attacker.

But if no one attacks her and manages to lose the encounter, she will die. Unless someone gives her candy.


Bagheera: Have you met him yet? Like every member of the leopard species, he has an extremely strong sense of self preservation. He will fight, and just in case he needs more than one piece of candy, he'll fight anyone ever. Feel free to take him on. He won't have a branch of sin, just 20 big-ass claws, a mouth full of teeth, and his species' signature super-stealth. And he'll be hiding on top of furniture, in the trees, or whatever high and shadowed places he can find, waiting to drop down onto whoever passes below... >:]

usskickass is a brawler and can throw a mean punch (seeing as Dot Marie threw shot-put in the Olympics, fff) but unless someone needs candy and can't get it, she won't be picking any fights. She will defend herself and others, but that's about it.

kch_kch can sword fight...but it is usually a fake fight. So he might just fake one to try and trick the cat. :D He'll also defend if anyone attacks him.

hamburellakind can WINDYTHIIIIING but he is too nice to fight people who don't really deserve it. So he's probably going for self-defense too.
