+ Bluh Bluh Huge Plotting Post +
As some of you saw, the Chesire Cat just announced a new event, and the Bulletin Board directed you here for the details.
On the first day of the event, characters will wake up to find themselves all sleeping together in one large, open, underground room. Think of a space about the size of a high school gymnasium. Characters each have a futon and blanket, and maybe a few personal items, but nothing else. In one corner, there is an area for food storage and preparation, though all of the food is of the non-perishable variety. There is potable water and plumbing, with communal showers and bathroom stalls in a room off to one side. All exits leading out of the area are sealed, and no amount of physical force, magic, or other supernatural power will open them.
Toward the end of the first day, certain characters will begin to feel a little strange. This includes those who are sensitive to supernatural goings-on or who have very weak mental constitutions (that is, they suffer from poor self-esteem, low confidence, depression, or identity issues). These characters will begin to feel a sense of disconnection from themselves and a powerful loneliness. They may begin to cling to others or try to isolate themselves (as much as possible under the circumstances, anyway), and might even feel physically ill, with such symptoms as disorientation, fever, chills, and slight nausea.
On the second day, everyone will be awoken by what seems to be a strong earthquake. The whole structure will shake, the walls will crack, and debris will fall from the ceiling. The shelter will stay intact, though. As the day goes on, aftershocks, some slight, some very strong, will occur. The power will go on and off occasionally, but the doors will remain sealed. This will go on throughout days two and three. Near the end of the third day, the chaos will get even worse, with almost constant tremors and a full blackout.
Throughout all of this, the feelings of disconnection, isolation, and identity crisis will get stronger in those already affected and will begin to manifest in everyone else. By the end of the second day, almost all characters except maybe a few insanely or stupidly self-confident and independent people will share these feelings to some degree.
The feelings of loneliness and isolation will get unbearably strong, but just at the breaking point, a solution will present itself in the form of a sudden epiphany: if one just lets go of themselves--their identity, fears, insecurities, and anything else that makes them hold others at arms length--they can be happy. Existence as singular entities means that no person can truly understand any other person, and it's the distance and boundaries between people that create insecurities, misunderstandings, and hurt. The way to stop all of this is to give up one's own identity and form, in order to merge with all other people as a single, massive group consciousness. The urge to give in and embrace this solution will get stronger and stronger through the night, probably keeping many awake (as though the tremors and general unease weren't doing that already). Some will be able to resist, but not everyone, especially those with the weak mental constitutions mentioned earlier.
If a character gives in to this revelation, he or she will transform explosively into a puddle of viscous, orange-red liquid. This will count as a mansion death.
Those who survive to the fourth day will find, upon waking that morning, that the exits have opened. If they venture up the stairs and out of the shelter, they'll find themselves at the edge of a wide, orange-red lake (that looks suspiciously like those puddles in the shelter), in the ruins of a city. The sky is dark and the remains of a huge, unmoving white giant are visible in the distance. Nearby is a huge, mangled corpse that looks vaguelly human, speared through the head by a giant pronged lance. Characters are free to wander, but they won't find anyone or anything except for ruined buildings that speak of a large, but abandoned city.
(Here is a video that might help to illustrate what we're talking about here.)
The next morning, everything will go back to normal and anyone who "died" will return to life regardless of their death count.
As always, there is a Q&A thread available for any and all questions.

Kurt: He's going to be exploding into delicious orange Tang at some point during the event. He's been through a lot, okay? He's not really from a point in canon where he's at his most self-confident either, so he's kind of doomed. It'll even be his first mansion death ever too. B)
James: ...Honestly, he's stupidly self-confident. Like really. There is nothing in the world that could possibly take him down. He'll feel twinges of something a little odd, but he'll mostly be focused on trying to break out of the room and figuring out what's wrong with his friends.

[Bad username or site: echo_of_utopia title=Lamb @ livejournal.com] will experience a mild case of disconnection at a later point during the event. After the epiphany however she will gladly choose to become orange soda, because that is pretty much what she's been preaching all game long.
[Bad username or site: sadfreezingbrit title=Philip @ livejournal.com] will feel utterly miserable from the very first day on, but once confronted with the solution (which sounds suspiciously Tuurngaitesque) he will stubbornly refuse to give in and maintain his miserable yet solid self.

George will take a little longer, but she's definitely my second most insecure character. I'm not sure if she should explode though, since...well, if people are exploding maybe she should reap them so they don't feel that? (I haven't watched the video yet but it sounds like they might not feel it anyway but I WANTS TO REAP.)
Miguel is the third most insecure, but I think he'd fight to keep his identity and exploring the wasteland would excite/disturb him greatly. :|a
John...might be tempted to give in, but I think he'd realize he can't and pull back at the last minute, then go windy thing around so he can confirm there aren't any people around but them.

Blaine: Again, no goo, but he'll probably be affected by day one. As confident as he is, he still has insecurities. Kurt will make him sad 'cause he seemed like SUCH A COOL PERSON.............
Dave: Dave will definitely have ~*feelings*~ from day one or two, and probably cling as tightly as possible to Bro, Jade, and John. But in a Dave Strider way. He'll stubbornly refuse the temptation to become goo because he doesn't want to leave his two herp derp friends behind. :( IF WE GO OUT, WE GO OUT TOGETHER...!

Yuu, good thing you aren't dying, damn it. If you did, there would be so much sadness. Nothing will happen to you, bestie, he swears. ♥

Evelyn, as easy as it is for her to feel downtrodden when not getting an acceptance letter from the university her choice, is a never-say-die sort of person. She's very confident in her skills and knows when she's right, and as a Feminist she's always advocated standing out rather than fitting in. No Kool-Aid explosion for her, dude.

Nai well...he's pretty sensitive to other people's feelings and such and he's not exactly the most confident. He'll definitely be affected, but I'm still debating on him being Tang or not. That would be terrible. Tang Nai.

Sirius on the other hand, is oozing with self-confidence, so he will not be exploding. I don't think I could handle killing both of my characters anyway.

Okay, so I have no ideas right now but that means I'm open for plot ideas. I don't THINK any of mine will goo (possibly Spencer, since a, I need to do something with her and b, she's the one most likely to succumb to the isolated feeling, although I'm not sure if she'd compromise herself to the point of fitting in entirely).
What I have so far for the others:
Bro will be one of the last to succumb because when you're as awesome at everything as he is, these little things don't bother you so much. He'll probably head out once he's able so if anyone wants to head up an exploration with him, he's game.
Feferi will also take a while to be affected and will probably be running around trying to make everyone smile. She'll also be on hand to stop anyone who needs it from exploding themselves into goo because everyone is awesome as they are.
Yukiko will probably isolate herself a little. Don't have much planned for her.

What did I just watch WOW Evangelion.
Mark's prone to depression, especially in the late summer/early fall, so he's going to feel sick early on and self-isolate. He'd be goo, but daughter daughter daughter got to find my daughter and also I want him to wonder if he's trippin' balls on the fourth day. So he'll hang on. Nevertheless! He does better when he has other people to worry about, if anyone wants to cling/bother him.
Droog is...probably not goo. Very attached to his identity, even if it is somewhat dependent on other people. Hm. I'll think on him. Very open to suggestions.
