002 | [ video/action (?) ]

[ Robin doesn't use his device too terribly often; not because he doesn't understand how to use it - he's caught on well by now - but he'd still much prefer to speak with someone in person, unless of course they really only need to ask something briefly of each other. It serves a purpose, he won't deny that.

And today, he's decided to step outside of his comfort zone and deviate from how he normally conducts himself, posing a few questions and observations to anyone who might be listening.

He's in the dining room at the moment, giving some thought as to what he wants to eat, and his face is rather perfectly centered as he speaks. ]

Before my arrival here in Wonderland, I had a brief stay in a small village by the name of Storybrooke. Everyone frequented Granny's diner, so I presume the food was extraordinary there, but I regretfully didn't have much time to sample it all.

[ He thinks for a moment, trying to remember some of the menu items: ]

I enjoyed the burger I was able to try, and the grilled cheese.

I was curious about something called buffalo wings. Does anyone know much about the buffalo? It must be rather small, based on its wing structure.

[ He's familiar with chickens, and the meat that comprises burgers, but buffalo is something new to him. ]

I've come to understand there's a particular type of food unique to diners, and while this place isn't a diner in the strictest sense, we can certainly acquire any of the food normally found there. I'm not sure what I should try. Any suggestions?

Depending on the soda, yeah.

[She grabs a couple options just to be safe. Today was all about variety. Putting them on the counter, she goes back to grab a few beer options as a back-up.]

Do you prefer something a little more sweet or refreshing? [Holding up the cola and the lemon-lime sodas respectively.]

[ Looking down for a second, Henry realizes he doesn't even know what to say, really. ]

I didn't even know him very well. i know he liked pizza, like me. I think he liked taking pictures. But I don't know. And I haven't asked Emma because...I don't wanna make her sad.

[ He doesn't mind it, he can handle it, but he doesn't want anyone else to be. So, he tries to be as positive as he can. ]

oh gosh i am so late /)_(\

[Oh, yes. Head over heels in every sense of the cliche, and Pepper bites back any teasing commentary as they end their phone conversation. There's plenty of time for it at lunch, when Pepper arrives only a few moments before Robin. She's barely picked out a table when the man walks in, and Pepper quickly waves him over.]

Hey. I hope you're hungry. [She gives him a brief glance at a list she's come up with, both for her own memory, and his. She's tried to compile a variety of dishes, focusing largely on classical French--which, coincidentally, is the language most of the list is written in. But there's space below each item as well, and Pepper hands over a pen along with the paper.]

I didn't know if you wanted to take notes. [On what he likes, what he doesn't like, what he thinks Regina might like; there's a lot of possibility, and far be it from her to deprive anyone of the chance to be organized.]

Hm...well, it's not quite as "diner-y" as some of the other things there, but I really like making riceballs!

[Tohru gestures as if she's forming one in the air.]

They're balls of rice with different fillings inside, like meat or pickled vegetables. They're simple to make, but they're really good!

[Emma's foresight has paid off, since a member of the wait staff comes by and leaves several plates with them: buffalo wings, the promised fries, chicken fingers, onion rings and potato skins. Carb and grease heaven, which she feels is a great first course.]

Finally. Now your education begins. Buffalo wings.

[She points them out to him.]

Time for you to see what you were missing all those years in the Enchanted Forest.

[That's probably a good thing, since Wonderland's diner is a little odd - there's a blend of American food Ruby's taught her how to make, Japanese comfort food, and pie (since they recently acquired a piemaker).]

Really? That's wonderful! I'd be more than happy to make some for you, Robin! We're in the first room on the eighth floor, so it shouldn't be hard to find at all.

henrydaniel: (pretty sad right now)

[Henry thinks about that for a few minutes quietly, not really eating anymore, just playing with his food. Maybe that was why Emma told him that Neal was a firefighter; he got that now. To protect him, but also, maybe that's how she dealt with it. She pretended Neal was dead.]

[Henry also knows about Marian, that Robin will see her again, and he looks down, knowing that he can't ever be mad or upset about him wanting to see his wife again, even though it really, really sucks that it's going to happen the way it does.]

What kind of things do you imagine?

[He asks his question quietly, finally looking up again.]

[She hands over the lemon-lime soda after opening it, giving him a knowing smile.]

They're addictive. That's why people tend to order them by the pound. I'm glad you like it, though if you're super curious about buffalo you should have a buffalo burger sometime.

[It's a thing. Not really her cup of tea, but she's all for life experiences.]

You know, I haven't had a meat pie in the longest time. That sounds really good, right about now. But it'll have to wait, or I'll never get to cookin' for you in the first place.

You do a lot of the cooking, back home?

I guess I can do that, maybe. I'll try.

[He gives Robin a little smile, realizing that he really likes him. Not that he didn't before, just...he doesn't treat him like a kid or make him feel like how he's feeling doesn't matter.]

Thanks, Robin.

I'm glad you like it.

[She can't help but dip her head slightly before grabbing another wing.]

If you ever need anything I'm on the seventh floor, room 27. I like cooking and I don't really get a chance to do it back home -- no time. Also, the dining room kinda creeps me out so if you ever get a craving for something or wanna give a new thing a whirl, hit me up.

[If she didn't know how to make it, it'd be a new thing for both of them. That's what recipe books were for.]

And yes, they're different -- something that's easier to try than describe.

Oooh... That could be fun. I'm actually helping a friend with his wedding plans and we're looking for foods from people's homes so if anything comes to mind let me know. I'm all for trying it.

[She makes a mental note of his room - never know when something like that might come in handy.]
