So, this place seems to have gone even more crazy than usual. [Carol's outside, flying a little ways above the... tree, which isn't unusual for her. What's more unusual are the shimmering dragonfly wings sprouting from her shoulders. She's not sure if they'd be functional if she wasn't already capable of flight, but still. It's interesting.]

Seems like it's hailing random objects outside too. Is anyone stuck outside? I can help get you back inside. If this actually qualifies as inside at this point.

[ Because he's aware enough that there's several of you here sporting that title and maybe Billy's been holding out on him. ]

Is that a thing, where you come from?

Not all of us. A lot of us have some kind of power, but the details vary. I fly. Some of us shoot arrows or turn into a giant green monster or swing on webs. The thing that binds us together is how we use those powers. Protecting the world.

From what, exactly?

And all of those sound... pretty strange, actually. The flying part's cool though. Have you always been able to fly? Are you an alien or a mutant or something?

[ He doesn't sound accusatory about it, just avidly fascinated. And his comic book knowledge is pretty sketchy in general. ]

Part-alien. I was born human, and ended up having my DNA partially overwritten. It's... a long story.

Yeah, I think we all have some of those. The long stories, I mean.

[ His reply is sheepish but he doesn't press for more than that. Then again, maybe it's something they unexpectedly have in common. Although hell, the flying is a nice bonus. He's a little envious, to be honest. ]

That it is. But it gave me superpowers, so it ended well. [She gives him a smile.] Guess you've got your share of them too?

Well, there weren't any aliens. That sounds kinda fun, actually. Unless we're talking all Independence Day or anal probes here and then you have my sincere sympathies. Also my recommendation on where to find a therapist. But yeah. I suppose most of us do here, yeah? It does seem to be the one reoccurring theme a lot of us have in common, I've noticed.

No anal probes, thankfully. [She grimaces because why is that even where you go?] Just a nice, straightforward explosion. Not to say I haven’t needed my share of therapy, but somehow I’m guessing I’m not alone here in that one.

[ The real question is why isn't that where everyone goes?. I mean, that's always right there in the headlines with aliens in the tabloids, innit? ]

I suppose an explosion is potentially less traumatizing at least. Sort of? As for the rest of it... Yeah, that's a safe assumption. it's one of the few things all of us seem to have in common here, no matter where we come from. Something always seemed seriously messed up, compared to "normal". Maybe there isn't actually a normal anywhere.

Normal is what you make of it. [She’s pretty sure superheroes aren’t normal in all universes, but in hers, they’re widely known about and accepted.] And probably pretty boring anyway.

We were normal once. Yeah, you're right, it was pretty boring. Safer, but boring.

S'why I enjoy it here, probably. At least no one can ever claim this place is boring.
