[Norman stares at this response. What do they mean he's not looking hard enough? He doesn't have to look hard, if there was a ghost here he'd have seen them. He scowls at the screen.]

I know there aren't any. You're just trying to mess with me.

you checked the whole magic mansion and its endless rooms already? wow, you're dedicated.

[there, that's messing with you, man. now, moving on...] I know there are, because I know a few. I'm...friends with one actually. maybe here, they're different than what you're used to.

so how do you normally tell they're a ghost?

[He glowers at the sass. No, he hasn't checked the whole mansion. But he would've seen one by now if this were any normal place.]

They float and they're see-through. It's pretty obvious.

Are you really friends with a ghost?

[Because that really gets Norman's attention. If it's true, and this person is someone like him... Then he has to meet them. The only other person he's known like him is his uncle, and he's dead now.]

yeah. well, he'd tell you he's alive, but it's all semantics and that's where it gets confusing.

[it's tempting to end it there. Neku hates putting himself out there. it's really uncomfortable and it puts him at a disadvantage. people can turn into enemies at the tip of a hat here in Wonderland.

but enjoy the moment right? he should be trying to expand his horizons and open up]

it helps I'm dead too. I'm not see-through and floating is more my friend's thing. but if you always see dead people, he might like you. [because Joshua did too, when he was alive. but Neku doesn't want to reveal that for him]

[This is all... really confusing. Norman isn't sure what it means. Some ghosts think they're still alive, sure, but they've never... looked different before. And he's not sure if they're usually able to use the internet? He doesn't think they can, anyway.]

No, man. when I screw around with people, it's with a lot more dry sarcasm and biting remarks.

I can't really prove it. here, everyone can see us. I think it's the magic bull of this place. guess you can take it or leave it.

[Neku really didn't think this through. people are always looking for proof in Wonderland. it's almost like being a corporeal ghost who claims he was trying to win back his life in a ward-wide death game is unbelievable]

[It probably makes sense, in some weird way. This place has magic closets that can spit out anything you could ask for -- maybe it also has ghosts everyone can see. He isn't sure how he feels about it, if it's true. Maybe it proves to everyone that his gift is real. If there's one ghost, there could be more, and they could be the patches of air Norman is so often caught talking to.

But then, if there's a ghost everyone can see, that means Norman doesn't have someone only he can talk to.

His reply doesn't come back for a while, but then, he finally decides.]

[Neku thought the guy had blown him off, so he's surprised to finally see a text. he hopes he doesn't ask for too many details. he's still touchy about it]

no. I died back home.

guess a dead kid's memories are just as good as any for the Wonderland collection.

[Norman won't ask too many questions. He doesn't like to interrogate ghosts about how they died. He figures most of them probably don't want to talk about it. But that was all he wanted to know.]

If ghosts can come here too then

[Then he doesn't have to feel as lonely? He's not dead, he doesn't really understand this person. But there's just something about knowing ghosts are still here, just in a different form... It makes him feel less isolated.]
