[There was a time when Morrigan could count the number of people that knew her name on one hand. Still, anyone who knows her name is not someone she plans to run into possibly... ever again, so when she hears her name she turns quickly, eyes wide and jaw clenched.

But it's not just the voice she doesn't recognize. The man himself, though he speaks like he knows she's left the Warden and her group, she's never seen in her life. She made an effort to avoid the small armies the Warden had gathered over their journey, so she's unlikely to find the answer there either.

No, she can't find a place for this stranger in her memory. She'll have to ask him herself. She narrows her eyes at him suspiciously.
]

I am sure you will see the last of me yet. Meanwhile, perhaps you could shed some light on how we have supposedly met, hopefully to remind me why I am meant to be avoiding you.

[Then she can get right back to it.]

[Rude, although he's not sure he expected much else. Morrigan had proven herself to be nothing if not direct during her time with the Inquisition, and he doubted that was about to change anytime soon-- and while they hadn't spent a great deal of time in each other's company, he'd at least thought she'd have remembered his name.]

Yes, very funny, I'm sure you consider yourself too important to remember any members of the Inquisition by name.

[Except perhaps the Inquisitor himself-- Dorian imagines she might have decided to manage that, given the situation.]

And here I thought we'd got on reasonably well.

I have never met with any Inquisition, let alone gone to any great lengths to remember the names of anyone involved with one. Do you mean the Inquisition of old, that would later become the templars? I am afraid I was not alive to meet anyone affiliated with that cause, and 'tis certain that I would not like to meet them regardless. We would surely find ourselves in quick disagreement.

[There's a fundamental misunderstanding here, clearly. This man apparently knows her, yet speaks of things she has no recollection of.]

Do I look like someone who would fall in with templars?

[Given that there's very little about his appearance that doesn't scream 'mage' or 'Tevinter,' although once the question has left his lips, he's reminded that there are exceptions. That said, Cullen himself was exceptional and had renounced the templars; if he hadn't, Dorian would have had to find someone else to play chess with between missions.]

You truly don't remember.

[Interesting.]

What of the breach? Ring any bells?
altarwolf: (and my animals frightened and sickened)

[personal profile] altarwolf 2015-07-05 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, well, one would hope the both of them would be a little more discreet about openly being mages, but it's pretty obvious all around here. She shrugs a little humorously, smirk on her lips, in response to his first question.

As for his second...
]

I know nothing of any breach, Inquisition, or young moustached men who find themselves unforgettable. Clearly 'tis not so.

[Discretion has never been Dorian's strong point-- in personal matters, yes, but beyond that? Well, he's never considered what he is to be anything shameful. Southern sensibilities were endlessly tiresome, in his opinion.]

I assure you, I've had plenty of evidence to support my being unforgettable from multiple parties.

[Or so he says.]

However, I suppose this isn't exactly unprecedented. [Considering his own hand in helping to develop magic that interferes with time itself, people not remembering certain events is hardly news, even if he doesn't yet know how Wonderland works.] Dorian of House Pavus. While we've had the opportunity to become acquainted, I believe you've yet to experience the events in question.

A nobleman, then. No wonder you find yourself unforgettable. Noblemen have a habit of assuming so.

[He claims to be from her future. It makes sense, in an outlandish sort of way. How else would he know her name when she thinks he shouldn't? He's someone she has yet to meet. Though she can't see herself trifling with noblemen any time soon, who knows where her adventures were yet to take her. If he played a part in her preparations for Flemeth's return, she might yet make use of him now.]

If you hail from my future, tell me something of it. Tell me of the Inquisition you speak of.

Don't be silly; it has nothing to do with nobility and everything to do with how my profile deserves to be immortalized in marble.

[It's entirely possible that he's joking, but his tone is flippant enough that it makes it difficult to tell.

As for the rest? He clears his throat, briefly.]

The Inquisition was founded by the Left and Right hands of the late Divine-- dedicated, primarily, to tending to the giant breach in the sky responsible for spewing out countless rifts and demons. You accompanied several of its members to the Temple of Mythal when we required a knowledgable guide.

[There are few words to describe one such as he. Arrogant, egotistical come to mind and she finds herself amused, if one can be amused while being annoyed at the same time. It is a strange feeling, one she's decided she doesn't dislike entirely.] Most do think so highly of themselves, but would not go as far as to say so. [She smirks.] You are an honest sort, for better or for worse.

The Inquisition, then, like many before it, is a group with good intentions. What sets you apart?
