+ There in the depths of the earth they dwelled +
You've heard about the latest exciting adventures of your favourite playing cards, now you'll have a chance to venture into the Deep Roads yourselves! The bulletin board has the premise that awaits come May 5th, and there's more information to be found under the cut!
The Deep Roads

The Deep Roads are marvels of dwarven architecture, some parts of it better preserved than others. In some places the main roads may be collapsed, leaving only natural stone tunnels to travel in order to progress. In other places the taint has taken over, and covered the walls in black rot, and a sickly shiny film, which gathers into sacs the size of a person. The Deep Roads encountered in Wonderland are no longer home to dwarves of any kind, but they are filled with a number of other fun creatures such as
and of course
The Darkspawn

"The darkspawn are perhaps the greatest single threat to all of Thedas; they are bloodthirsty, exceptionally numerous and willing to indiscriminately kill or corrupt all in their path," and now you too can order them for your home in Wonderland! They are twisted and tainted creatures with enough intelligence to use weapons (and sometimes even magic) for their savage attacks.
They come in many forms, and those who dare to confront them may encounter genlocks (the smallest and most numerous of their kind), hurlocks (a larger and often more heavily armed variety), shrieks (agile and so stealthy as to be near invisible until it's too late), ogres (massive brutes with incredible strength), and finally emissaries (the most intelligent of the spawn, capable of using magic).
Worse yet, any confrontation in darkspawn-infested areas brings about the risk of contracting the taint. The blight disease can be transmitted through contact with darkspawn blood and fluids, or through objects imbued with the taint. Victims suffer through great physical and mental pains, before they either die or turn into ghouls. The progression of the taint, both in nature and speed, varies greatly from individual to individual. Only the Grey Wardens are rumoured to know survival to the taint, but characters may not wish to rely on their methods...
So how, how can any of this be worth venturing into the tunnels you ask?
The Treasures

Scattered throughout the Deep Roads characters may find treasure chests, bags, buried boxes, sealed tombs, or varieties of other places in which valuable treasures are stored. Of course Wonderland wouldn't dream of offering something as mundane as gold or gems (unless you're into that sort of thing): Instead your character, provided they are dedicated enough to journey through the roads for at least three days will find an item from their world, which they would otherwise only be able to obtain from Wonderland's Vendors at a considerable price.
Granted, not all who hear the call of treasure may find what they seek: The rule of thumb is that, the more time your character spends journeying through the Deep Roads, the more valuable their reward has the potential to be. But then, who knows? They might have risked their life for a pair of moth-eaten socks. It's really all up toyou fate.
(And if you want your kind and benevolent mods to help fate along? A treasure lottery has been set up below, for you to use or disregard at your leisure!)
AND FINALLY both Wonderland's closets and your characters' powers will function as normal throughout the event, HOWEVER. Supplies in the Deep Roads themselves are scarce to say the least, so any explorers should prepare for an expedition accordingly. And yes, deaths do very much add to the official death count this time as well.
Come Tuesday 10th the tunnels will disappear, and everybody and everything will once again return to normal. And, as always, room for plotting, and a thread for your questions and my answers is provided below!
Have fun, and happytainting treasure-hunting!

• rats (rats)
• nugs (adorable naked rodents, the only harmless thing down there)
• giant spiders (tragically self-explanatory)
• giant poisonous spiders (for variety.)

what i am saying here is could Shepard, theoretically, acquire the Mako

Re: Questions...
I was wondering if hooker here could find his broken sword! It is a powerful magical item so I figured I would ask first, but it would be super Bueno for him to have it later on!
Or for someone ELSE to have it later on! You know, however those dice roll!
#ETA and... Again... since he's invulnerable to magical (and physical) damage, would he be immune to this dark taint thing? I keep asking because I want him to notice how weird it is that he's not effected when he should be.

cursejam. He will stumble upon an ornate golden treasure chest, which will contain a copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, as well as a bottle of this. Subsequently Philip will roll his eyes and go home.He will not get an open post, but if you would like to summon him anywhere, let me know!
Cullen will think the tunnels may contain a potential way out of Wonderland, or at the very least information that might lead them to finding one, so he will venture down there. He won't die during the event, but he may or may not catch a spell of corruption towards the final day(s). Still thinking of something good and treasury to make up for his troubles.
Cullen will get an open post, and is available for any rescue-type deals and fighting alongside characters, so let me know if you wanna do something!

ADVENTURE.
He'll be packing up to go on an adventure, for sure. He can handle himself well enough on his own against basic enemies, but he might need help with the darkspawn. Also, I'm considering deeply having him be affected by the taint by way of tainted items. He wouldn't become a ghoul. u no. i just like to suffer. C:
Papyrus is an abled fighter who would love to protect someone/some people on one of endless. Papyrus doesn't really have any ultra precious treasurey items that could appear, maybe his sentry stand or his race car bed, but he's more than willing to help other people find/carry out their equipment.
Gideon will be sitting this out.

also I vote race car bed

Alex Kralie and Frisk
FRISK will also be chilling in the Deep Roads, either hanging around Chara and trying to keep them from killing everything or just moping around on the fringes since it reminds them a bit of the Underground. They might be up to contract the taint, I'm on the fence about it. We'll see.

> "joke's on you," i say, "they're both technically infected and their lives are still terrible"

ROBYN is a grey warden and, since this event is from her memories, she'll be getting a top level! at first, she'll be spreading the word about not going into the dangerous tunnels and, when that doesn't work, she'll be going down there herself to help keep people safe. her blood is already tainted, so she isn't in danger of that, and she also isn't going to die, since... she just did in the last event. instead, she's going to travel down and help out whoever needs it and will eventually find a treasure chest! because she needs good things. fun fact: her rogue specialization is ranger, so she may end up working alongside a giant/poisonous spider rather than fighting them. good times!
SAM will also be getting a top level because HELL YEAH he's going down into the creepy tunnels to fight monsters! like robyn, he'll be saving people, hunting things (the family business) and will be finding a chest, but he'll have a harder time, since he's never encountered darkspawn before (or the other dragon age monsters, really). he may be contracting the taint, but i don't think i want him to die here, so... we'll see. if you want a hunky nerd to help your character out, or if you want to help the hunky nerd in his quest to be a big, damn hero, sign up here!
SNOW and ELLIE won't be going down into the caves. snow is too smart for that and isn't a warrior, and ellie
just got her time in the proverbial sunisn't risking life and limb for whatever may or may not be in a chest past all the contagious monsters. also, it sounds way too familiar to the bad thing that Just Happened. they'll both consequently be taking a back seat for this event and won't be getting top levels, but i may tag out a few times, so let me know if you want anything with them!plot away!

I'm a sucker for mutual ass-saving and I always welcome bonding over combat situations, especially when it A) enables reluctant kindness from Morrigan, B) is slightly awkward, or C) both. Those quiet we've-gotta-rest-sometime moments when sleep isn't actually going to happen are definitely a Thing in the Deep Roads, and I welcome that too. (Also, her other shapeshifting forms're probably more ideal but if you feel like fighting giant spiders with a giant spider we can work something out.) She probably won't satisfy her reason for going into the Deep Roads in the first place, but maybe she'll get some halfway decent treasure. Maybe.

Shepard has no real interest in searching for treasure, but she can't say she's not curious and she's also certain someone is going to get themselves killed down there, so she's arriving with lots of firepower, her suit, and a bunch of food. Her efforts will be rewarded, because on the last day, she's literally going to drive a fucking tank straight out of the Deep Roads hole. It handles like a drunk rhino, but can also survive being dropped from orbit after a spaceship explosion and can drive 90 degrees up a cliff face. It's also got a rocket cannon on it and absolutely won't fit in the mansion but that's not going to stop her from being objectively thrilled. She's going to get drunk and do donuts in it after the event. it's Important. As such she probably will get a post for that on the final day, since she'll be more than happy to drive around and rescue people from the back of the Roads if they don't wanna walk all the way home. It holds at least 10 people, more if you're willing to stand and/or small.
Alphys also has no real interest... until Papyrus goes running off and she decides there's probably scientific merit in examining a bunch of old shit. I have nothing in particular I want her to find, so I'm throwing her into the treasure lottery! maybe she will get something Fun. She probably won't get a top level but she's available if other science-types want to hang/discover shit??? she's in.

Also PAPS MIGHT DIE SO YEAH THERE'S THAT TOO...
Rick is only mildly interested in the prospect of treasure and is more interested in getting to explore some weird fucked up ruins. He won't go too deep since he'll get bored eventually and will nope right out once he spots some darkspawn. However he might also get lost and may or may not get caught up in whatever dumb bullshit the Stans get up to.

canon fodderbecause teamwork is the stuff that makes the world go 'roundor some other colourful BS to endear you to his side. So, yes, he will have a top level and spend most of his time there with a chest at the end. Anyone wanna roam the Deep with this fun-loving psychopath who is in way over his head? Ehh? Any takers? It'll be fun and horribly violent! Just know, he might reflexively shoot something in the face if his chest is all white shields.Update: He is apparently getting a CL4P-TP in a box at the end, so prepare for a very pissy Jack to return. I'm definitely doing an audio post on the network of him finding it and having a tantrum at the end of the event.
Tony won't have a top level, but he might skim around a bit out of curiosity and help people out. If anyone wants him somewhere specifically, lemme know.
You can also ping me on Plurk for plotting:

Henry is probably going to be sitting out since there's really nothing he needs that A) his family isn't already going to get and B) he doesn't have already. He'll be holding down the fort on the 8th floor, but is available for plotting!
Daisy Johnson
She'll likely be getting an open post for this and I will also be tagging her around some. SO if you have any special requests for a lady who can manipulate vibrations to tag in your post - let me know.

Wanna help move some rocks around so Fitz can take samples? DOES THIS NOT SOUND LIKE FUN? :D
captain hook — once
Lemme know if you want a partner that oddly never gets hurt and looks more and more like death as he goes! I mean that sounds fun, right? As for his friends he will let them know he's off to dig through the tunnels, but if they ask him not to go he will probably just go anyway. Sorry folks.

Billy isn't even going to think twice about this, he's heading right now. Dragon Age is his favorite game and he get to actually see the Deep Roads! It's the Hanukkah...Darkspwan filled Hanukkah. I'm toying with the idea of giving him the taint if any grey wardens wanna give him options of death or slow drawn out enevitable death. (Are they performing the joining?)
Clint isn't getting a top level. But he'll probably try and keep out of it. He's had enough undead death for the moment. But if anyone wants him for a thing I'm game!

leliana is totally heading down to the deep roads. at first to see if there's a way back home down there (though she has doubts it'll be that easy) and later to save people from the darkspawn and/or give them a quick death if they're tainted. (or... bring them to the wardens if they're doing joinings?? can they do joinings in wonderland??)
i don't think i'm gonna give her an open post of her own? but i am gonna be all over everybody else's, so let's do things

So why is she getting the treasure? Why, to pay off the last of her imaginary debt to Stan Pines! Plus, it'd make him happy! SO IF SHE DIES YA'LL KNOW WHO TO BLAME

NOT IF SHE DIES THOUGH BECAUSE UGH HE'S STARTING TO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HER WELL BEING.

She's also going to end up getting tainted but because of her ~immunity she's only going to look tainted but not actually suffer from any of the rest of it ( see: here ) so- be worried, try to kill her, something??

Bethany Hawke and Mystique
Mystique will also be heading into the Deep Roads, intent on being more helpful this event than the last, admittedly similar one. She's going to be asking around on the pre-event post if anyone has any ideas about what might be going on and then trying to alter her physiology to limit the potential she'll become infected. She'll be trying to actively rescue people despite her reluctance to become involved, because she feels a little more solidarity with the people also trapped here than the average humans at home.

I'm not 100% on a timeline yet, so he MIGHT go full ghoul or just get SUPER sick for the latter half of the event.

she still doesn't have a weapon of any kind, and, uh, will not be smart enough to try getting one from a closet before venturing into the tunnels. She thinks she'll be fine; she's quick and she knows how to handle herself. buuuut i'd definitely like for her to run into trouble and maybe need some help fighting some monsters.
in the end, she'll come across a gorgeous, probably valuable little treasure chest that contains these rockin' shoes. WHICH... will disappoint her because really? shoes??? but she'll settle in the end since the chest itself if shiny and probably worth something.
i'm open to all kinds of plotting with new or old cr, and i'm gonna post an open log for her so you can also just jump in once it's up if you're interested.
