02 [accidental video]
[There's no warning what's going on before the video starts, just a flash of bright light and violent motion as the recording device shoots across the room and bounces off a wall, landing to give a tilted view of Jowan's room. It's not a particularly interesting room, nearly as stark and empty as they all start out when claimed, although it does now feature a small fire burning merrily in the corner. Not in a fireplace, which is probably why it's starting to spread quite alarmingly, but it definitely brightens the place up.
It's also probably the reason why Jowan is panicking just a little.] That wasn't supposed to happen!
[He stands at the edge of what the device is recording of the room and looks largely uncertain, glancing around the room for an idea of what to do before swallowing hard and taking a step forward, brow furrowing as he extends his hands and frost leaves his fingertips. The flames crackle loudly at the ice and Jowan closes his eyes, pushing more power into the spell until a sheet of ice surges forward suddenly, dousing the flames and leaving a good chunk of the room covered in ice. But at least there's no fire any more, right?]
I don't understand what went wrong! It shouldn't be this difficult. [He wanders over to nudge the ice with a toe and sigh heavily.] Why does this always end up happening to me?

I'm probably not that good with fire or primal magic either. [He admits.] I never finished my classes at the Circle and it's harder to learn on your own. Especially when you're hiding from templars.
[In other words, why not make the best of the time and resources Wonderland has offered? Though he supposes that's what Jowan is trying to do.]
If you do need some instruction with something other than the healing arts, I might be able to oblige. It would be a shame if you burned the mansion down around us.
But Cullen said to practise outside, and to see about teachers. I don't know if I want to find both of them though. Hawke seemed all right when I met him but the other one Cullen mentioned was a... magister.
[He lowers his voice instinctively on the word, like saying it too loudly will cause a cadre of templars to burst through the door and dish out holy smites to everyone present.]
[He's not terribly tempted to give Wonderland the opportunity to prove them wrong. However, as Jowan continues on, Dorian finds himself quirking an eyebrow in response-- the title 'magister' still doesn't feel like it's his, recent as it is, and it means little here in Wonderland, but he knows full well what the implications of it are.
Nobody trusts mages from Tevinter-- magisters, even less so.]
And what else did Commander Cullen mention? I hope he at least included that as magisters go, I'm devastatingly handsome.
You are? [His face colours as he realises exactly what the other mage said and he quickly adds:] A magister? But doesn't that make you a, a blood mage?
The two aren't entirely synonymous, you know. No, I don't practice blood magic. Abhor the stuff, in fact.
[For some very personal reasons, as well as on principle.]
[Jowan stands there a moment looking awkward, not certain what answer he'd really expected or wanted. A magister who didn't like blood magic was good, obviously, but... he's a blood mage and he's not certain if Dorian's really that good a choice of teacher. But it's also better than someone who might think he should be using blood magic, isn't it?]
Do you... I mean, if you met a blood mage that was trying not to be, would that be all right?
[He's not exactly subtle ok.]
